Review: Thomas Muldoon lures you in and then doesn't let you go! Not only does Muldoon give the reader a penetrative insight into high-tech military strategy of the elite recon forces, he also exposes big government betrayals, cover-ups and corruption.
A fast paced master plot of global intrigue, this book has it all. A great mix of heinous crimes, revenge, loyalty, character depth and hey, there's even romance!
His verbal paint brush canvasses an array of images - perfect for the screen, too. You'll be hearing more about this author!

Summary: Provocative and Ingenuous
Review: This novel has been the subject of much discussion among my circle of friends, many who are ex-military. It is exciting read, but the theme is what initiates our discussions. Marines deaths being ignored by the CIA and top U.S> administrators because to prosecute the murderer would be contrary to American policy. A very provocative theme. Add to that the ignoring of drug trade and the involvement of the Cubans--and the hunt to the death of former Force Recon Marines who 'execute" justice for the murders, a matter required by the honor of the Corps. Thought-provoking and ingenuous.

Summary: A NON-STOP ACTION ADVENTURE INTO SPECIAL OPS!!!
Review: Every so often I get in the mood for reading an action-packed thriller that deals with our country's elite military forces: U.S. Army Special Forces, Marine Recon, the Navy SEALS, and Delta Force. To impress me, the author of the novel has to know what he's talking about-preferably from personal experience-and be able to tell a good story with strong, heroic characters facing insurmountable odds. Any writer who can do this will more than lightly win me over as a loyal, die-hard fan. One such author is Thomas L. Muldoon. His debut novel, AN EXECUTION OF HONOR, hooked me in the first eighteen pages and made good on its promise to deliver a high-powered adventure, involving the elite Marine Force Reconnaissance unit. The novel starts out in 1986 with President Luis Cardona, his three sons, and a small part of his army escaping from the country of San Tomas in Central American as the Communist rebels take over the capital.
Helping Cardona to get out of the country are William Means of the CIA and perhaps the most dangerous unit of fighting warriors in the world, a nine-member team of Force Recon Marines headed by Captain Dan Paige. When Paige and Gunnery Sergeant Melvin Snipes refuse to allow Cardona to bring his large cache of cocaine with him, the exiled President has them viciously tortured and killed. The rest of the Recon unit is totally unaware of what has happened until Cardona is well on his way to America, where he's to be granted asylum by the President of the United States. When the members of the Recon unit voice their complaints to the higher-ups and demand justice for their dead comrades, they're warned to back down, to keep their mouths shut, and to forget about it. That's the worse mistake the U.S. military and government can make because these men never forget an injustice and will spend the rest of their lives getting even. The remaining seven members of the Force Recon team soon quit the Marine Corps and set about making plans to take out Cardona and his family. When they do, each member of the unit suddenly finds himself to be a hunted fugitive, with "hit" teams from the United States, Russia, and Cuba after them. It doesn't take long for this to become an all out war because the Force Recon Marines aren't going down without a bitter fight. If you want them dead, you'd better have a lot of body bags for your own men! AN EXECUTION OF HONOR is filled with action from beginning to end, while going into great amount of detail with regards to what it takes to be a Force Recon Marine and how well they're trained in the "seek-destroy-retreat" process. Mr. Muldoon describes the latest in fighting technology and small-arms with clear expertise, never dulling the reader's sensibilities with too many facts, but rather enhancing the story and making it utterly believable. The Recon Marines are strong characters that come alive with their intelligence, their desire for justice, and the loyalty they have for the members of their own unit, as well as for the United States. Their honor and loyalty are never questioned. The reader comes away loudly cheering these guys on, praying that they will survive, but knowing that the odds are against them and that most of these men will die before the ending of the novel is reached. This is definitely a book that deserves to be read by every member of the U.S. military, especially the Marine Corps. I remember when I was in college and my Uncle Mac came back from Vietnam. He was a Force Recon Marine. When I tried to ask him about what he and his unit did in Nam and what it was like, he said in a soft, quiet voice that if he answered my silly questions, he'd have to kill me. At first I thought he was joking, then I saw the look in his eyes and I immediately shut my mouth and never asked him another question!

Review: This is one good book. You are able to get the inside track on
the Marine Corps Force Recon(similar to Delta Force and Green Berets).In a South American country,San Tomas,a dictator who is fleeing the country tortures and kills two Force Recon team members.The dictator escapes and sets up house in Florida under
the protection of the U.S. government.After the U.S. government
refuses to punish the South American dictator for his crime,the
Force Recon members gain revenge. As a result of their action they are hunted by the FBI,CIA,KGB,and Cuban intelligence.This
result in gun battles all over the map.There is nonstop action for the reader.The term Semper Fi gains new meaning after you read this fine book.This book is action packed and very readable at the same time.This is a must read.

Summary: Personifies the USMC Creed
Review: This book is action packed as many of the reviews have stated, but the real message is that U.S. marines believe in the honor of their Corps and its motto: Semper Fi. A team of Force Recon Marines, and yes this is a real USMC unit, are fighting a delaying action in a Central American country,where, under CIA control,it is protecting the fleeing dictator from a communist insurgency. During his flight, the dictator commits the ultimate crime--he tortures and murders two Marines.
Surely, punishment will be swift for the dictator. But no, the dictator is important to American policy and he goes unpunished. In fact, he is rewarded by having a home and military base established in Florida; also, he is allowed to continue his established drug trade, ostensibly to finance his "reinvasion" of the communist controlled country he once ruled.
This naturally doesn't sit well with Marines ---and the remainder of the unit knows their honor will not permit the dictator to walk away from the murder of their comrades. Despite the knowledge that the result of their taking any action will lead to their being hunted down, imprisoned, and possibly killed.
They do it anyway. SEMPER FI!!! And the resulting worldwide hunt and subsequent chase of the Force Recon Marines by the United States, Castro's Cubans, and the Russians makes for a thrilling and masterful novel.

Summary: Horrible
Review: Horrible, what a waste of paper. The characters are card-board cut-outs with no complexity. Often teh reader is told so-and-so is smart and gutsy, but you never could tell from the way teh characters behave. The good guys are brave and the villains incompetent and beyond redemption. Its just so simplistic, its like a 13-yr old wrote this. No interesting operational details or unti details either to interest military fiction enthusiasts.

Review: This book can best be summed up by stating it is a great read. Exciting and entertaining from the very beginning. A book which keeps you on edge and wondering what will happen next. Think you've figured it out? You haven't! Everytime it looks like the story is predictable, it changes, sending you romping in a new direction. Force recon Marines? Never heard of them until this book. What I didn't know, now I know. A great book.

Summary: Truly A Can't Put Down Novel
Review: Before purchasing this book, I read all the reviews. Many of them warned that you should never start this novel when you aren't prepared to read it straight through because it is that exciting. There was a review by a reader who started it on an airplane and when he arrived at his destination sat down in the airport and finished the novel before going home. There were other similar stories. And my first thought on all of them was that it was total bull. Is there ever a novel one truly can't put down? Nonsense. However, after starting it at 9 p.m. on a Wednesday night and finishing it at 5 a.m. on Thursday morning, I have to admit that this is a novel which I truly couldn't put down. It was a thriller from the get-go, and everytime I thought that it might become predictable, the novel shifted into a new and fascinating avenue. I simply loved it.
