Rating: Summary: I Was Glad To Finally Finish The Book! Review: This book is not the Tom Clancy that I had grown to admire as a great author. The bookstore should pay you for buying this mess. The first Net Force was readable. This book is not. There is a horribly boring plot. The villains are terrible. Not even Toni and Alex MIchaels could save this terrible book. The rednecked Georgia computer genius who played the role of the hacker was awful. The Senate aide who was helping the hacker was terrible. The third world connection was also lacking. All in all a bad book. I hope Tom Clancy starts writing his own material again. I sure do miss the real Ton Clancy.
Rating: Summary: could it get any better? Rating: Summary: Night Moves Prequel Improved But Predictable Review: As a Clancy fan, and having panned "Night Moves" in an earlier review, I felt obligated to give another of his Net Force books a read. "Hidden Agendas" is, chronologically, the prequel to Clancy's earlier work. He might have done well to release it first. The characters in this book are better developed and the plot an improvement over his earlier effort. However, as inferred by another Amazon reviewer, this is the stuff of a movie script perhaps more than popular literature. In "Hidden Agendas" the Net Force battles a computer wiz nee: body-building street thug and his employer, an apparently legitimate U.S. Congressional official with secrets to share. A "cloak 'n dagger" chase" traces its way across the U.S. and Europe before settling in an "OK Corral" confrontation that simultaneously brings all of the principals together in an obscure African nation. Clancy does a nicer job here of developing his characters. He provides the origin of the relationship between Alex Michaels and Toni Fiorella as well as the unlikely match between Sergeant Fernandez and goddess-genius Joanna Winthrop. Even Jay Gridley's VR (virual reality) computer scenarios are less excentric. Col. John Howard is perhaps the most believable character (if you ignore the tree falling on him during a wilderness exercise in Washington). And we're less distracted by the wanderings Howard's son, Tyron, than in the earlier release. Clancy doesn't let the intermittent romantic steam rust his proficiency for detail on weaponry and military tactics. However the motive of the key antagonist, Thomas Hughes, is never made completely clear. Despite a skeptical start, I enjoyed this volume better than "Night Moves."
Rating: Summary: Great book! highly recomended. Review: This book has a great story to it. Although i have never read the first one, reading this book makes me want to. The book at times strayed away from the plot but it's the books second half when it really got interesting. I especially liked the whole "good guys hunting down the bad guys" feel to it. Lots of plot twists that will keep you thinking. I am now an even bigger fan of Tom Clancy.
Rating: Summary: Generic Dialogue / Not enough Plot Review: The book was boring. There was a time when I read 7 Chaptures at one time(8-15), and only 2 'scenes' that I can remember had any thing to do with the plot(or the conflict of the story). The other paragraphs were about the characters pets, activities when not at work, cars they owned ... That is entirely too much character development and not enough actual plot or action. Especially for a Clancey novel.
Rating: Summary: An excellent Futuristic Thriller Review: This book has become one of my favorites. After, reading Net Force I didn't know how this one would compare, but I wasn't disappointed. If you liked the first one, this one won't let you down.
Rating: Summary: A great book, not a boring op-center Review: A great book with a whole lot of suspense. I read the whole book in about 2 hours. You want a good Tom Clancy? Read Net Force.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not so original Review: Not being an avid Tom Clancy reader, I wasn't sure what to expect. Although the plot wasn't very original,(about a team of people who sabatoge the net, and NetForce is sent to track them down) I must say I injoyed reading this book. Set in the year 2011, it dealt with a lot of techinical/futuristic equipment which appaeled to me. Not a classic, but worth reading if nothing else is on your nishtstand.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed, Discouraged, Disavowed Review: Thought I would try another Clancy novell. What a disappointment! Is this the same guy that wrote Red October? I would recommend steering clear of this title and going with an earlier work if you haven't read them all. Otherwise, try "The Perfect Storm". It was alot more engaging and entertaining.
Rating: Summary: Good Idea, but drawn out Review: I bought the Audio CD version to listen to for a six hour drive. As I was listening, I felt like Clancy was trying to force a novel upon his readers (listeners). The only point that I was really intrigued by the book was on the last CD. It was very hard to keep my intrest through the first part of the novel. The idea of the information that was stolen was a little far fetched, but that was ok b/c it was fiction.
