Summary: Should Be Titled It's A Dangerous Life! Super Read!!!
Review: What super read! I had trouble putting this one down!!! The title should be compared to the Christmas movie, It's A Wonderful LIfe but with an added twist, 'Danger...' This story will get your blood a pumpin' and your heart a thumpin'. In my opinion--a must read!

Summary: Poignant tale
Review: After forty-six years of sitting in the celestial waiting room right outside the gates of heaven, Sterling Brooks is finally summoned before the Heavenly Council. Eight female and male saints explain to Sterling that he did not use his time on earth performing good deeds. For the most part he remained an uncommitted and indifferent person, more interested in himself than anyone else.

He is given a chance to make up for his previous failings on earth by returning there and helping a person who needs help badly. If he accomplishes his goal, he will be permitted to celebrate Christmas Eve in heaven. He appears in Rockefeller center where he meets a little girl named Marissa who wants desperately to see her father and grandmother. Unfortunately, they are in the witness protection program ready to give testimony that would send two gangsters away for life. Sterling's heart opens to the precious little princess and vows to reunite her with her relatives. How he goes about this and what he learns in the process might earn him a permanent place in heaven or doom him to eternal hell.

Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark have created a beautiful parable that demonstrates the true meaning of the holiday spirit. HE SEES YOU WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING will appeal to both the mainstream audience and those readers who like a supernatural novel. The two protagonists of this beautiful story will endear themselves to everyone who reads the book.

Summary: A nice novella for Christmas -- goes well with hearth/home
Review: I've enjoyed virtually every Mary Higgins Clark book (all of them), including her last Christmas season book also co-authored with her daughter Carol (who I'm not particularly fond of), but it's not really obvious two authors are at work (unlike, for example, the two Stephen King - Peter Straub collaborations). This pleasant little tale of an angel wannabe coming back to earth to earn his full passage through the pearly gates has just enough plot, just enough character development, and just enough suspense to please -- with everything wrapped up so nicely at the end. But at the same time, I doubt the authors planned it for anything more than it is -- an hour and a half of nice-ness at Christmas time, very suitable for easy chair by the fire with a glass of wine while awaiting Santa. How does one complain about that?! Merry Christmas.

Summary: Awwwww for holiday fun
Review: Maybe it's just me. In light of all that is going on, I find myself gravitating to the fun, fast reads. I don't care if they don't challenge me and if they're slightly silly. This book is perfect for an escapist read. When I'm done travelling to and from work with this in my hand, then I'll pop in Prancer and remember that sometimes a little bit of sugar is what we all need.

Summary: Awesome suspense
Review: I don't give book reviews but here goes. This one will get you to sit straight up, no slouching. My wife told me my eyes would be so wide open at times... and she was right. I can't see why anyone would not enjoy this good writing. Mary has a very real and capturing way. We have all seen movies and read books about the person who needs to do the good deed on Earth to gain rights to Peter's gate, but this one is arousing. I am not a regular reader of Mary's, my wife is, she also says this is intense. I want to recommend another book my wife ordered here, and is as satisfying, SB 1 or God By Karl Mark Maddox.

Summary: I Wouldn't Recommend It
Review: If I had to name my ten favorite plots from books, this one would not be on my list. It begins with Sterling Brooks, who died and was waiting to be admitted into heaven. After being judged, because of the self-centered life that he had lived, he was sent back to Earth to prove that he was worthy of his wings. His task was to locate someone who needed help, and to help them. After finding the heartbroken girl he was supposed to help, and, (with help from the Heavenly Council), going back in time to learn more about how her heart came to be broken, devises a plan that he thinks will bring back the girl's smile. Although every other book by Mary Higgins Clark that I have read was great; I did not really enjoy this one. The plot seemed totally different to anything she has ever written before, and was not one of those books that "put you on the edge of your seat." This is more of a heart-warming book, rather than suspenseful, which is most of Mary Higgins Clark's work. One reason I did not like this book was because of all of the things they said about heaven. I believe in heaven, but if I am going to read a book that talks about it a lot, I would like for it to be based upon facts, not opinions or fictitious thoughts. Although I liked some aspects of this book, for the most part, I did not enjoy it. This is the first of Mary Higgins Clark's books that I did not love. I would highly recommend her other books, and others may enjoy this one immensely, but it isn't a book that I would recommend.

Summary: Lightweight holiday yarn
Review: HE SEES YOU WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING is a good - not great - whimsical Christmas story. I read a few of Mary Higgins Clark's novels several years ago and enjoyed them. This collaboration with her daughter is not up to par with that earlier work, but it's still entertaining. It was a nice stocking stuffer gift.

Sterling Brooks has been waiting outside Heaven's gate for many years and is given a chance to go back to Earth and help a sad little girl, to make up for his indifference to others throughout his life.

The girl, Marissa, has been without her father and grandmother since Christmas, the year before. What Marissa doesn't know is that they had to go into the witness protection program because of something they witnessed after entertaining (they are singers) at a Christmas party thrown by mobster brothers. Sterling's job is to find a way to remove the threat separating Marissa from her dad and grandmother - not an easy task, but easier when you've got a few heavenly tricks up your sleeve.

HE SEES YOU WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING is short, sweet, amusing, sometimes a bit silly but altogether a decent story that can appeal to all ages. It's not particularly memorable, but it's a pleasant way to spend a cold winter's afternoon.

Summary: Holiday Suspense
Review: He Sees You When You're Sleeping is a light holiday suspense about a man, Sterling who is in heaven's waiting room and his journey to gain his entrance in. Sterling is sent to young Marissa to help her out in a sticky situation involving her family and the mob. Marissa's father and grandmother are sheltered in the witness protection program and Marissa cannot bear Christmas without them. This story is not meant to be heavy by any means. The plot could have definitely been developed more.

Summary: Great Start, but turns predictable...
Review: The basis for this novel is excellent. I had high hopes as Clark hooked me at the beginning with the plot. However, throughout the book I would tell my husband, "I bet xyz is going to happen next." And sure enough it would.
