Summary: Missed
Review: I evidently missed out on something, because I could not get into this book. I tried - read half way thru and ended up just putting it in the bag for the book exchange. I wasn't even interested in finding out the ending. Sorry, but this is one I cannot recommend to read.

Summary: fantastic!
Review: I loved this book! I have Dee's other 2 books, but this is the one I have enjoyed the most (though I also liked the others). It is exciting, fast-paced with all kinds of plot twists that left me guessing until the end. I really enjoyed the setting of Vienna. It's such an unusal choice, but it doesn't overwhelm the story. The heroine, Chloe, is spunky and charming, with just enough faults to make her believable and real. Who wouldn't love a messy, accident-prone heroine who ends up in the lap of a dead man?!! The hero, Matthew, is wonderful as well. He is sensitive, but not wimpy. Strong, but not overbearing. Down to earth, but still glamorous (and very sexy). I reccomend this book to anyone who loves a romantic, suspensful, quirky romance novel. It is fresh and fun!

Summary: FABULOUS!
Review: I loved this book. It's set in Vienna, Austria and has it all. Heart-rending romance, Belly-buster comedy, Spine-tingling suspense, all wrapped up in a beautiful setting that is far from the norm. Ms. Davis has done it again. I can't wait for her next book!

Summary: a little more effort
Review: I read the book because I had recently been to Vienna. It had an interesting plot, some good humor, but she took the low road on the romance storyline. With a little more effort she could have written a much better book.

Summary: Boring...
Review: I've read Dancing In The Dark & After Twilight by Dee Davis & Just Breathe doesn't even come close to the other 2. I found the book to be pretty boring & I didn't totally follow the whole conspiracy thing. I got the main idea of the conspiracy but it was basically laid all out for you therefore there wasn't much of a mystery. I'm finding that Dee likes using the same expressions over in over, not just in 1 book but from book to book. Examples would be "Let me love you" & "the smile didn't quite reach his eyes". Also, I'm left still wondering about the cow story. Was it ever really explained? I love Dee Davis books but Just Breathe is one that I can't recommend.

Summary: Dee Davis has a winner!
Review: Just Breathe is one of the best romantic suspense books I've read this year. Matthew Broussard and Chloe Nichols are such likeable characters, and the Muses (the old ladies) are great fun and add much enjoyment to this entertaining book. Add a wonderfully intriguing plot, the setting of Vienna, and you have one heck of a good adventure. I highly recommend this book!

Romantic Suspense
(Author of After Twilight)

Dee Davis delivers a tale of mystery, suspense and fate in 'Just Breathe.' It begins with a meeting in Volksgarten, Vienna, Austria in 1985. Lisa Munroe, a young reporter determined to receive vital information for the story of a lifetime, sets out to meet her source at the statue of Elisabeth, a Hapsburg empress murdered by an anarchist. No sooner does she reach her appointed destination does she stare into the eyes of her killer.

Sudbahnhof, Vienna ' Present Day. Future travel writer Chloe Nichols is aboard a European train with a group of wealthy American seniors. As the train comes to a stop, she prepares to disembark with the other passengers in order to enter the underground station. As she steps into the crowded isle, behind a woman weighed down by luggage, she stops, is pushed aside by a short man and then collides with him. Literally falls on him. She is warned by a handsome stranger to move on quickly, to follow him and seconds later feels a stinging sensation in her arm.

Call it fate, by Chloe quickly becomes the target of a killer and is thrown into the unfinished business of international spies. In an attempt to protect her, from Charles Messer's killer, former agent Matthew Broussard takes Chloe under his wing. Posing as Chloe's fiancée presents the perfect cover for Matthew during his self-assigned mission to find his former lover's murderer. The charade continues as he weaves back and forth socializing with Chloe's companions on tour: Irma Peabody, Charlotte Northrup, Wilhelmina Delacroix and tour director Thomas Hardy. At the same time he's working with Benjamin Grantham, chief of station and Harry Norton, a CIA operative to solve the unsolved case of Lisa's death and what she might have uncovered.

JUST BREATHE, takes your average, always-in-trouble, American woman and throws her into the heart of international suspense. The pseudo-engagement not only places Chloe in danger, but informally has her volunteering her services to 'figure this one out.' Using her knowledge of history and myths, she's an informative player in the deadly game of espionage. You quickly fall in love with Chloe and her senior companions, you begin questioning former operative Sabra Hitchcock's part in all the never-ending madness and you've got to wonder who Matthew and Chloe can trust.

What is in Chloe's possession that the killers are trying to uncover? Which one of the adorable, fun-loving seniors is not your average, everyday citizen? What did Lisa, Alekesi Panov and another journalist have in common? And when is a waltz, not a dance? Read 'Just Breathe' to find out.

Summary: Too many under-developed sub-themes
Review: This book had a good story line and was entertaining. However, the author had a tendency to place story threads in the book that were never integrated into the plot. She wrapped the book up too quickly to do justice to the threads. Cynically, I would guess she was trying to do some marketing for a multi-book series. Or, she needed a better editor.

Bottom Line: A good read for those who don't get bothered by poor editing. But for those who also like well-crafted books, may want to pass on this one.
