Summary: A treasure at the end of the trail
Review: This is the first time I have been so captivated by a book that I feel absolutely obligated to let the rest of you know how fantastic it is. This has got to be the best suspense novel I have read in a long time. The voice is so authentic I feel as if I am listening to a friend telling me her experiences. Each chapter is packed with action and intriguing discriptions of the Florida swamp country, the inhabitants (human, reptile, insect and mammal) of Jo Beth Sideen's world. I couldn't bear to miss a single sentence by skipping ahead to find out how the book ended as I often do with formula mysteries. This isn't just a novel. It is an experience not to be missed.

Summary: A Good Story Well Told
Review: This story starts off with a bang. A search and rescue using bloodhounds. The main character is Jo Beth Sidden, a strong and sometimes prickly woman who breeds, trains, and uses bloodhounds in search and rescue. An interesting plot held my interest throughout. The best parts of the story involved the dogs. It was only slow in a few places. I would wish for more about the dogs and less about food intake and wearing apparel. Overall, though, a good story well told.

Summary: Death in Bloodhound Red
Review: This was a exciting book from the begining. Jo Beth Comes alive before you very eyes. The setting is great and reader has a sense of being there. This sure does not seem to be a first book in a series, but it is ,and that is good. Love to see more from the author.

Summary: DEBUT? Couldn't tell by the wrtting!
Review: Truly an EXCEPTIONAL DEBUT. Great fast paced story line, wonderfully detail drawn people and a very fine mystery. Lots of "Southern Color", both positive and negative. Quite a page turner, but I never wanted it to be over. I fell madly in "LOVE" with Miz Sidden's Bloodhounds. I certainly want more books with these interesting people, places and the beloved hounds. Please Ms. Lanier write faster!

Summary: Totally Fascinating--- could not put it down!
Review: Virginia Lanier is a fabulous writer! Her characters are interesting, and the action never stops! I love the search-and-rescue sections, and Jo Beth Sidden is a pretty unique character. I can't say enough in praise of this author and her books!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Entertaining and informative. Highly recommended.
Review: What a great lead character! Jo Beth Sidden is a strong, determined, intelligent woman. I look for books with well-developed female leads, and Jo Beth is a winner. You never know what she'll say/do next. Realistic, but not cynical like Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta. Several story lines move the book along. Hated to see it end!
