Summary: An Outstanding Medical Thriller
Review: This electrifying medical thriller is brilliantly written and doesn't let up until the final page. Michael Palmer combines cutting-edge medical technology with international intrigue and throws in a side order of blind ambition to create a fascinating and suspense filled tale.

This is probably the best medical thriller I've ever read. The technology was plausible and the scientific explanations seemed well informed. The characters are interesting and well developed. Dr. Carl Gilbride's insatiable egomania as head of the Eastern Mass Medical Center puts patients at risk by pushing the use of the ARTIE technology before it is ready. His imprudence and haughtiness makes it that much easier to love Dr. Jesse Copeland, his dedicated protégée who is far more accomplished as a brain surgeon than her boss is. International terrorist Claude Malloche and his wife are ruthless and wicked beyond description; heightening the uncertainty as to the mayhem they will wreak to further their desperate ends.

The plot twists, turns and races at breakneck speed against an incessantly ticking clock providing a white-knuckle ride and unbearable suspense. I rate this book a 10/10. It has been a long time since I have been so engrossed in a story. Don't plan to get much sleep until you finish it.

Summary: Hold on tight for a .......ride!
Review: If you crave suspense to keep you glued to your favorite easy chair, here's one for you! It had a slow start, but boy did it pick up and did not stop untilyou took your last deep breath. I had no idea whcih patient you needed to "watch out" for because thier identyity seems to change personality and appearance. So, sit back and be tired to your book and chair for a great ride.

Summary: THE PATIENT - Another best brain thriller
Review: Another great medical thriller from Michael Palmer, maybe even his best to date! Laced with ‘neurological’ intrigue, THE PATIENT, who is a psychopathic underworld terrorist, will go to great lengths to have an inoperable tumor removed from his brain: murder, bribes, subterfuge, kidnapping, and out-right chaos.

The good guys are a burned-out ‘Agency’ operative who has been dogging the terrorist for five years, and a brilliant, young neurosurgeon who is targeted by the terrorist to remove the deadly brain tumor with newly-developed robotic technology.

Michael Palmer does a masterful job of creating an ingenious plot that stops short of going ‘over the top’ with its hold-your-breath ending. And the character development and relationships between doctor and doctor, doctor and patient, and ultimately good and evil, are multi-dimensional and insightful.

Summary: Audio Disappointing - Story Excellent
Review: Excellent thriller as usual by Palmer but the narrator SHOUTS much of the dialogue and her transitions from accented English to ordinary American English are often muffed. Listening in car on road trip with good system was annoyed by the audio engineering problems.

Summary: Great beach read!
Review: suspense writing at its best mixed with just enough scientific advancemet to let you learn something. A page turning delight, I now have to find some of his ealier works and make sure i haven't missed any other great books. Buy it, read it, enjoy!

I also recommend "A Tourist in the Yucatan" another good beach read!

Summary: Written with the big screen in mind.
Review: I am not a fan of this type of literature-- books that are written as if they were adventure films. Since I don't like the entire genre much, I may not be the best judge of the merits of this one. If you want non-stop action and depth of characterization is not a priority then this is a book you will enjoy. Even for a straight forward adventure romp, I found the story to be contrived. Would even an international terrorist want his surgeon to feel at risk for her life while she's performing delicate brain surgery? Shaking hands come to mind. I got about 3/4 of the way through, well into the climax of the novel and I realized I didn't care what happened. I have read adventure novels that, while they din't rank on my top 10, did propel me through to the end. This one didn't.

Summary: This book will keep you up all night...
Review: If you are a fan of medical thriller novels, you have got to read this book! I really enjoyed this book with the suspence, bad guys, good girls and even the FBI. I think Mr. Palmer could even write a sequel to this one. How bout it Mr. Palmer?

Summary: The Road to a Spin Off?
Review: My first Michael Palmer book. With only 30 minutes a day to read during my commute, I found myself hating to get off the transit to go to work and come home. Always at the edge of my seat. It did end abrubtly but I smell a good spin-off book with the good guys leading the way. That probably not being the case, I'm out to buy the entire collection of Michael Palmer books.
