Summary: You belong to me, or do you
Review: Mary Higgins Clark has always written great books, so I knew You Belong to Me would not be an exception. At first, the book seemed to be somewhat confusing due to the fact that there were ten main characters and each chapter was devoted to one character, so the book kept skipping around between people. After learning who was who though, the book went great. I have never been so intrigued or into a book as much as I was with this one.
Trying to summarize this book without giving away the murderer might be a challenge, but I will give it a try. As the story starts out in New York, there is a daily radio talk show host named Susan Chandler who decides to bring it upon herself to find out whatever happened to Regina Clausen, a forty year old woman who went on a cruise and never returned home. The first day of the show an unidentified woman calls into the show to say that she was on a cruise before, after her husband and she had a fight, and a man gave her a ring with the inscription that said, "You belong to me." She then said that she would bring the ring to the show incase it had any relevance to solving the mystery. As she was delivering the ring, a man, who turned out to be the murderer, pushed her in front of a van which sent her to the hospital with a coma. Regina's mother then found a ring with the exact identity as the one from the unknown woman, so she gave it to Susan. Another woman later called in and said she had a ring that sounded almost the same as the one the other women described. The murderer was listening to the show and he knew he had to get rid of this woman so she would not tell where she bought the ring from. As the investigation continued on the air of the talk show, the murderer has to continue killing people who might know he is the killer. Susan also finds out that this man has killed two other women because the song "You Belong to Me" has four destinations and he wants to kill one woman in each spot. Susan then is close to figuring out who the murderer is, so she becomes the next prey for the killer. That is all I can say because if I tell the rest of the story, I will give the ending away. There was a ton of information I left out, but there is no way possible to fit the whole summary on a page.
As I said before, this book was the best. At many times in the story I thought I knew who the killer was, but then I was not sure. Eventually I narrowed the possible choices down to three and close to the end of the story I narrowed my guess down to two possible suspects. The ending was great though because in a way the murderer was suspected, but then again I could not be so sure. The reason the book is so good is the fact that people have no idea what is going to happen next, so people are on the edge of their seats the whole time reading the book. I do not believe that any of the book was farfetched because everything that happened could happen in everyday life to any average person. The characters were also well developed and I knew throughout the whole book who the author was talking about. Something else that is great about the book is the fact that there are only two swear words used throughout the whole book, so anyone would enjoy reading it.
My Grade: A-(was a little confusing at times in the beginning)
Highly recommended for: Thrillogy and suspense lovers

Summary: You Belong To Me
Review: You Belong To Me traces the mystery surrounding the deaths of several lonely young women. Dr. Susan Chandler, radio talk show host, finds herself in the middle of the story after she invites a guest on her show to talk about his book.

The underlying plot to this book seems a little strange. Although it is not obvious who the killer is until the end of the book, it is also not obvious why they killed in the first place!

Summary: Endearing main character makes story memorable
Review: Perhaps I'm a sucker for strong, intelligent, female lead characters. Perhaps I am also a sucker for a female lead who isn't getting hit on by (or hitting on) other people all the time. Dr. Susan Chandler is an interesting, dynamic and engaging character. Mary Higgins Clark has done an excellent job presenting the reader with a likeable lead in Dr. Susan, and for that reason alone I feel compelled to recommend 'You Belong to Me' to fans of the genre and the author.

Frequent readers of Mary's know about her tendency to use a particular formula. This formula, at times, can be bothersome, as it seems to make the 'mystery' less mysterious. 'You Belong to Me', however, was a story where I was not constantly trying to figure out 'whodunnit'. I simply let myself enjoy the plot developments. The characters are richly developed and interesting, and they came alive for me when I read the novel.

If the first-time reader simply relaxes with this one instead of trying to find fault with it, I think 'You Belong to Me' will be enjoyed a lot more than other negative reviewers did. For surely, MHC's gift is in her characterizations, much more than in her mystery writing.

'YBM' is my all-time favourite MHC novel, and I make no excuses for my obsession with it. 5 stars with two thumbs up!

(And the killer's M.O. in this story is one of the more chilling ones MHC has come up with in a long time - eek!)

Summary: "Oh, Win!" Oh, Please!
Review: I haven't read a book of Mary Higgin's Clark for awhile, and now I remember why I haven't. It seems that every female character from book to book is the same. This book is merely a cardboard cut out from another book. It was simple to see who was the killer. The only reason I kept on reading was to see what the killer's motivation would be. Some of the characters seemed so dim. "Oh, Win!" Oh, Please!

Summary: Not too Exciting...
Review: This book tried so hard to "shock" the reader, that it made me realize that Mary Higgins Clark doesn't know how to write for her life. If you take a look at this book, it's almost middle school level. She uses the same names, the same character "types" and in this book especially, it's easy to find out who the killer actually is. Not recommended.

Summary: Mary did it again!
Review: The "Queen of Suspense" has created yet another amazing plot, developed original and unique characters and ended with a nail biting, twited ending. I couldn't put it down! Read it, you'll love it!

Summary: Mystery at it's best!
Review: A well written novel of mystery, love, and obsession.
You Belong To Me, by Mary Higgins Clark, is about women who mysteriously disappear. All the women are well educated and high class. But their main connection is that they are all lonely and in need of love.
Mary Higgins Clark takes you in the mind of of a twisted killer and a person set out to stop him. With delightful twist and mind wrenching turns, You Belong To Me is the type of novel you can not put down. It pulls you in, and you become as set out to stop the killer as the characters in the novel.

Summary: Predictable beyond belief
Review: This was the most predictable suspense thriller I ever read - if you can call it a suspense thriller, that is. You can almost single out the villain within the first 20 pages or so. And the so called twist was so insipid because there was only one way the tale could have been twisted. An utter dissapointment.

Summary: I Just Couldn't Put It Down
Review: The 5 stars are not given because this is a great piece of literature - it doesn't pretend to be. They are awarded because I simply could not put this thriller down. It grabbed me from the first chapter and other activities I should have been doing simply had to take a back seat while I immersed myself in the book. Susan Chandler, however innocently through her radio talk show, begins to uncover the trail of a serial killer who preys on lonely women across the four corners of the globe. The book has lots of great characters, lots of plot twists and keeps you rivetted until the very end. There are several characters who could be the killer - but you will have to go there yourself to find out just who it is!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A bit predictable
Review: I enjoyed this book as I do all of hers, but there weren't as many twists and turns. It was pretty obvious who the killer was; I just couldn't figure out what his motivation was until the end. The body count is pretty high in this (is it ever low?) and I found myself rooting for everyone to not be killed off. The killer had no redeeming qualities and seemingly no good motivation. It's still a page-turner, though, so if you like this author, it's worth the read.
