Summary: Can we go lower in stars say negative?
Review: I have read the other Andy Brazil works and enjoyed them. She is usually a tight fast read keeping your interest and involving you with the characters. You care. You want to know what happens. This book was not anything like that. I personally could have cared less. It had a wandering style. The plot seemed extremely loose as if written over a long period of time without looking at the previous parts and then stuck together.

I was extremely disappointed. It was a very cluttered read. It was also very choppy. The usual ties and the need to know how everything ties in together is not there. In fact by the middle I was skipping everything to do with Andy's website and wished I could have skipped him in most of it. I really liked the character in the previous stories. I did not in this one. He seemed less than Andy and the personalization that made me care about him wasn't there. It's bad when you hope the main character gets blown away out of boredom. If I had to hand out a grade it would be REWRITE this one kid. There is a great plot in there, it just can't survive under the bad novel.

I have edited this to add my honest gut reaction into the third chapter was "Did they change or get a ghostwriter?"

Summary: One Star Is Very Generous
Review: Mindless drivel! It's sickening to see writers resort to such inane and worthless nonsense, capitalizing on their reputations, but it seems to be happening more often than not. I can't believe I'm actually going to finish reading this masterpiece of ineptitude, were I not somewhat of a masochist, I would have incinerated this piece of garbage long before now.

And so, I join the group with a one star rating only because zero is not an option. Anyone wants my copy, let me know. It's up for grabs until the toilet paper runs out here at the farm.

Summary: Don't waste your time
Review: After the first chapter or two, I kept reading only because I've enjoyed all other Patricia Cornwell books. I finally stopped reading when I realized that this book was so bad that it just could not be redeemed. What drivel!

If it was meant to be funny, it missed the mark. I can't fathom what else it was supposed to be, though. The author owes all of her readers an apology! Frankly I am embarrased that I wasted so much time reading through double digit chapters. Please take my advice - don't waste yours.

Summary: Dumb and Dumber
Review: Like someone else posted, it's hard to believe Patricia Cornwell worote this garbage. Either she owed the publisher a book and wrote something intentionally bad, or cranked it out over a long weekend. After reading the fine Kay Scarpetta series, this is a joke played on the reader.

Summary: Diehard Cornwell Fan Disillusioned
Review: I had never read a Patricia Cornwell book I didn't like; I found each story to be fast paced with deep character development and twisting plot lines, then I picked up "Isle of Dogs". Simply put, it was horrible! I knew that it was supposed to be a comedy but it was so corny that it became difficult to finish.

Summary: godawful
Review: The line "every body knows, that the world is full of stupid people" is just a lyric, not a story line for an entire novel. I was unable to finish it, and completely overwhelmed by the ongoing and absolute abundance of unbelievable stupidity. Not to mention, sincerely disappointed, as I usually enjoy her writing.

Summary: mindless collection of historical trivia
Review: I am completely at a loss for words. It is difficult to describe the feeling I had while listening (I got this book on tape) to this book, tape after tape, waiting for the plot to develop.

There are several loosely intertwined plots, most of which could be eliminated without changing the story at all. As one reviewer pointed out, there are cognisant crabs. That's bad enough, but my real issue is with the fact that the cognisant crabs are conversing with a cognisant trout. That's just silly... everyone knows that crabs and trout speak different languages. But honestly, aside from the heros of the story, the sea creatures are the most intelligent characters in the book. In that respect, they presented a welcome reprive from the nonstop mindless drivel that comes from human characters.

I could really just go on and on. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities in this book. Don't expect a typical Cornwell book. I dare you to disregard my review and read the book anyway :).

Summary: Cornwell wrote this?
Review: I am a big Patricia Cornwell fan and love her writing style but "Isle of Dogs" was by far one of the worst books I've wasted time reading. I thought the plot was pretty hokey. Its hard to believe Cornwell actually wrote this book. The only reason I made it to the end of the book is that I was reading it on the commuter bus on the way home from work....now I realize that sleeping would've been more entertaining.

Summary: Hopefully the next one will be better.
Review: I have loved these characters since the first book and this one was a let down. It seemed like there was little flow to the book and the two "friends" Andy and Hammer no longer had that chemistry and pull that they had in the previous 2 books. There was too much of the author trying to be funny and I don't read these books to get humor out of them. It ended up belittling the characters and promoting stereotypes. In any case, the book had little mystery and suspense and I am hoping that the next book involving these characters is better.

Summary: This book is the pits!
Review: There is no doubt of Patricia Cornwell's huge talents- the Scarpetta novels prove that. There is also no doubt that a writer of her talents must go beyond the bounds of a single character and format. But, as Ms. Cornwell has apprently decided to make satire her new field, she needs to grasp that it is meant to be FUNNY, and is meant to make a POINT. This book is miserably unfunny, uninteresting and pointless. I've been a big fan of this author's in the past, but will certainly not buy another of her books based solely on seeing her name on the cover. I feel gipped!
