Rating: Summary: What a dissappointment! Review: I am a huge Patricia Cornwell fan and have read the Kay Scarpetta series at least twice. I even enjoyed Southern Cross and Hornet's Nest, but where did this come from? Was it supposed to continue with that series? It was so drawn out and jumbled that I couldn't even finish it on Audio tape. Maybe it's just me but what happened to West? Things had just started heating up at the end of Southern Cross and now she is gone..what happened? If you like Patricia Cornwell, don't read this and if you have never read one of her books, don't start here!! Let's hope the old Patricia Cornwell comes back soon!
Rating: Summary: an insult to readers Review: i have read all previous works, and enjoyed them. this one must be made up to fill a contract or else the author just decided to insult the intelligence of her readers, now that she has made so many millions. this pastiche of carl hiassen and elmore leonard is embarrassingly facile and trivial. do not buy this book and if you have, ask for your money back
Rating: Summary: Hoping for something better! Review: What a huge disappointment to buy a brand new Patricia Cornwell novel (hardback, no less) and not find the main character, Kay Scarpetta, in the novel! Those of us who are Cornwell fans are still hoping for something better the next time! I hope she won't disappoint us! Her best read is her mystery novel, with her best characters, Scarpetta, Lucy, and of course, Marino! I give her a "1" because she writes well, but this subject left me flat. I won't reread this novel of hers like I have done with all her novels in the past!
Rating: Summary: Talking Crabs Review: A lot of fun, especially as an audio book, Isle of Dogs took me by surprise. The superhero, Andy, definitely has his white hat on for the challenge from the murderous Smoke, the iconoclastic Islanders, and the Governor's devious PR man, a pirate in disguise.
Rating: Summary: Horrible!!! Review: I have never had this happen to me before, but as I was looking at this book in the bookstore a woman walked over to me and said about the book, "Horrible. Absolutely horrible!" Talk about bad word of mouth! And she was right! Yikes, what's up with the editors at this publishing house??
Rating: Summary: What a disappointing surprise! Review: I bought this book because I had read and enjoyed several of Patricia Cornwell's earlier books. I can honestly say that I do not remember reading any book that was so disappointing. I lost interest in the storyline and characters early on, and pushed myself to finish it, hoping that somehow it would redeem itself, and show at least some of the excellence of the author's previous work. But no! The subject, the style, the absurdity - this is not a work worthy of the author. How did it ever get published? If this is the new style of Ms. Cornwell, she has definitely lost a reader.
Rating: Summary: Isle of Dogs by Patricia Cornwell Review: I am a great fan of Patricia Cornwall but her new books outside of foresic science are a mega disappointment and I couldn't even bring myself to finish Isle of Dogs; it was so poorly written, made no sense what-so-ever and had no direction that half way through I'd had enough! I'm afraid unless it's a Scarpetta book I will not waste my money on any more Patricia Cornwall books, she should stick to her field of epertiese and save us all a lot of money and wasted time.
Rating: Summary: FICTITIOUS???? Review: To everyone who thinks this is a completely fititious piece of work you should really do your research. It seemed to be a slap in the face. - from a former resident of Tanger Island
Rating: Summary: a resident Review: Being a former resident of Tangier Island and now living in Orlando Florida I am ashamed of the inaccuracies that plague the book and am saddened that a publisher would allow such a poorly written book to be printed. Anyone who has any conections with Tangier Island would realize that this is not a "fictitous" story but merely a documentary of lies....
Rating: Summary: This book is a nightmare!! Review: The author must have fallen asleep after eating too much seafood, had a nightmare, woke up, wrote it down, and then had it published. Patricia Cornwell is so much better than this book implies. If you've never read one of her novels before, please don't start with this one. I highly recommend all of her other books.
