Summary: One of Robin Cook's BEST books ever!
Review: INVASION captures your interest right from the start, especially if you like "things from outerspace"! Invasion is very hard to put down and gets you involved with the characters right from the start. (Do not judge the book by the TV movie, which was disappointing to me.) After reading INVASION, you'll be wanting more of Robin Cook

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: "Invasion" is one of Cook's most interesting books.
Review: I believe this book is very interesting.
Aliens finallycoming to meet us. I was disappointed by the ending, where the humanswon. I didn't think it would be that bad for the aliens to take over. They are, afterall, more advanced than us, and smarter. Still, this is one of Robin Cook's best books!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: An awful book from a terrible excuse for an author.
Review: Tripe like this consumes resources (paper, ink, shelf space) that could be used for better books. Help raise Humanity's standards: avoid all of Cook's books (except as a source of kindling). Only the very young or very ignorant could like this book. Even the "official" reviews (above) hate it

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Interesting premise.
Review: What a great premise! For that I give Cook a '10'. This isn'tthe usual "Us vs. Them" plot.

"They" were here first and are just coming back to harvest the fruits of their labor. Problem is, "We" seem to have these emotions that want to resist the harvesting process.

I like the slightly blurred concept of who the good and bad guys are. "They" are just activating the next natural step in our evolutionary process.

Upside: less wasted time sleeping cut from 8 to 2 hours average. No more dehabilating disease. Increased strength. No more wasted energies spent on warfare, we're all on the same team now. Instant understanding of the goals of the collective through telepathy

Downside: "We are Borg, you will be assimilated mentality". Really bad complexion.

Upside: we get to join the GWW (Galactic Wide Web) with no AOL busy signals and no monthly fees!

Downside: we're on-line all the time whether we want to be or not.

Upside: no more genetic weak links.

Downside: If you already ARE a weak link, ...well, sorry!

We, the good guys, finally defeat the bad guys, with an illegal and banned germ warfare anti-virus virus! (Damn, didn't the War of the Worlds guys die the same way? Won't those pesky aliens EVER learn?)

Where this book loses me is that it reads like a TV movie script. That's why I gave the book an overall 6 rating. In fact, I hurried to finish the book two days before I saw the TV movie (rating 1.2). The premise I liked in to book was totally hidden in the movie.

I'm sure that the TV PC-police didn't feel that the viewing public would get that the bad guys were "bad enough" so they downplayed the environment issue and played up the evil lizard creatures. Instead of "bad technology" defeating the invaders, we have extract of blood type serum. I still can't figure that one out. Oh, well it's what I've come to expect from TV adapted novels. No suprise there.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A page-turner, but leaves something to be desired...
Review: When I read Invasion, I stayed up all night, till 5:45 AM, tofinish it. So why am I giving it a 7? Because the characters were thesame throughout the novel. There were many contradictions and faux pas's. Like when the Decipher guys talk to Beau; why would they suddenly be interested in him, especially when he was seeing them on time he had skipped from class? Anyway, I didn't really see this as a "contraversial medical thriller" but it was still pretty good.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Not a worthy endeavor for Robin Cook
Review: I am a fan of Cook's other novels, but couldn't wait to finishthis one so I could go on to something better. It seemed like a firsttime attempt for a new novelist and not a very good one at that. I felt like I was reading a screenplay and not a novel. All in all I felt like I wasted my time reading this thinly disguised rewrite of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Combo of "The BodySnatchers" and "War of the
Review: I think Cook drew from two other books as stated in my"one line summary." The book, however, was fun to read as thechase was on....

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: INVASION is a disappointing experiment in science fiction.
Review: Robin Cook has diverged from his normal genre with Invasion, arather implausible tale about aliens who wait billions of years toinfiltrate the dominant life forms of planets throughout the universe. The concept of 'invasion by virus' was interesting, but the rest of the hard science was not convincing; indeed, little effort was expended to explain the mechanics of the aliens' science. The plot was weak and the characters were poorly developed - when several died I didn't care. Try again, Robin. This is simply not in the same class with your medical thrillers.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not his best but good
Review: It is not the typical Robin Cook but it kept me interested enough to finish the book. I don't normally like science fiction but because of his ability to make his characters real and have you care about them it worked. I do hope he goes back to his medical mysteries though

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I HOPE TV DOESN'T RUIN THIS BOOK
Review: I read this book after I read the reviews that appeared here, thus I read it with an open mind. It's a good thing I didn't expect a"normal" Robin Cook book, because this book wasn't. I normally don't read this type of book, but I enjoyed it. I hope the movie is as good as the book, although television has a habit of ruining a good book!!
