Rating: Summary: Science Fiction Review: This book was great. About how people try to save the world from becoming aliens. The people study DNA's and all vacines ever made to cure this virus of black disks. You can't know how it'll end. It's amazing.
Rating: Summary: Invasion: Great Book! Review: Cook is great, Invasion, adapted for TV on NBC, was a fantastic novel. Not your normal run of the mill alien. Little black capsules which hold a virus, that transforms the person into the alien . . .
Rating: Summary: Sci-fi not a good recipe for Cook! Review: My excitement about reading something different from Robin Cook was soon diminished after about 50 pages of "Invasion". It's too bad that the crew from "Mystery Science Theater" can't lampoon books because they would have a field day with this tepid attempt at sci-fi. Hopefully, Dr. Cook will stick with the subject matter that he knows best - the medical thriller. If you're looking for a good Robin Cook book to read, don't start with this one. It is for serious devotees only!
Rating: Summary: A so-so remake of "Body Snatchers" Review: Something about the novel's pace and/or premise kept me reading this rather thinly-disguised remake of "Body Snatchers." But the characters are one-dimensional, the plot is full of holes, and the dialogue is often laughably wooden. "Cathy, you must flee!!" Give me a break! This is a genre I'd not return to, were I Dr. Cook.
Rating: Summary: This was a GREAT book! Review: I think this book was really good. I honestly can't see why some people didn't enjoy it! It was action packed and I couldn't put it down! The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because at some points in the story they got too technical and I didn't really get it, but the action and suspence that Robin Cook included in his story made up for that. The movie, however, was a different story! Compared to the book, it wasn't that great, but it still was ok in that you actually got to see the characters come to life. I'd give the TV movie about a 4 or a 5 because of that. Anyways, I highly recommend for people who are into high action stories!
Rating: Summary: A fantastic and intracite look at the world of medicine Review: I've read the other reviews and frankly am dissapointed. This is a great book, the first I had read by Robin Cook and it hooked me. The characters and plot are original and it's one of those "can't put downs"
Rating: Summary: Disappointing. Nowhere near the level I have come to expect. Review: Robin Cook should stick to what he does best: writing INCREDIBLY BELIEVABLE medical thrillers which keep you on the edge of your seat, terrified that in the not too distant future, or even NOW, these things can be /are actually happening. This space invasion stuff is beneath him and best left to those with less imagination who are dedicated to this area. Being a physician I especially enjoy his medical thriller aspects; space junk is a dime a dozen. I expected more from Robin Cook. Please stick to the old, better format!
Rating: Summary: Not original! Review: It's a mix of Bodysnatcher and Visitors, where only a small group saves the whole earth. Besides some unreality, there's nothing new. I've read it quite fastly, without emotion.
Cook makes better when stories, even if fictionary and futuristic, have some grade of realism (i.e. it may happens).
Rating: Summary: Is this what the doctor ordered? Review: On the up side, Cook's foray into science fiction moves alongat a very readable pace, earning it a 5 on the scale. On the downside, it seems Cook has sacrificed quality of dialogue in the interest of , what is for him, novelty of plot. I can't help but think that if Cook had taken a little more time and effort writing this book it may have earned an 8 or better. One of Cook's greatest strengths as an author has been his ability to blend his technical knowledge with a believable plot line to create a convincingly scary story. Apparently for this outing, Cook has freed himself of this constraint and has produced a work that is less than enthralling.
Rating: Summary: One of Robin Cook's BEST books ever! Review: INVASION captures your interest right from the start, especially if you like "things from outerspace"! Invasion is veryhard to put down and gets you involved with the characters right from the start. (Do not judge the book by the TV movie, which was disappointing to me.) After reading INVASION, you'll be wanting more of Robin Cook.
