Rating: Summary: it is spine chilling , thrilling mystery. a true masterpiece Review: If anyone was to gaze at the night sky at 10;15 p.m ,they most certainly would have seen a brilliant shooting star. Moments later electronic equipment began to spark and explode. To add to this the next morning the city was filled with little black discs. Little did the people picking up the discs think that the discs carried with them a deadly threat to life on earth from the icy vastness of outer space. The book goes on to talk about how the discs prick people producing a short term flu in them which somehow miraculously seems to rejuvinate them. To add to this the victims undergo a drastic personality change and seem extremely interested in the environment. Subtly but boldy cook puts it across to us that we take our planet a little too much for granted and that it may take aliens to clean up our planet. The book also tells us about how unique human emotions are in the universe. Beau the first person to be affected by the disc starts mutating rapidly but continues to harbour strong feelings for his fiance Cassy even after attaining complete alien consciousness. He says aliens consider this a weakness in humans. Invasion is a masterpiece by Cook keeping in tradition with his other thrilling mysteries.
Rating: Summary: I don't care what other people said, this is a good book. Review: When Cassy Winthrope's fiancee is bitten by a black circular disc he finds in a parking lot and starts acting strange, she is suspicious. When he suddenly takes a trip to California for a job interview, she wonders if the disc did something to him. And when a hospital room where he stayed for a few hours is strangely mutated, she can't help but wonder if the disc is something alien. Then, more and more people around the world start getting bitten by discs, and then people begin trying to change the world, trying to undo the damage they've done over the centuries. Cassy, her friend Pitt Henderson, Sheila Miller, Jesse Kemper, Nancy Sellers, her husband Eugene, and their son Jonathan set out to save the world. If they fail, the human race will go the same way as dinosaurs. The suspense is greater than anything I've ever encountered. The writing is exceptionally interesting and exciting, and Robin Cook has made something that we look at as utterly impossible seem real and commonplace. The characters are pretty much different from each other and stay in character. The plot is excellent and suspense is massive. I felt extreme sorrow at the end of Invasion, when the Earth was destroyed . . . or was it? You'll have to read the book to see. The last 100 pages are impossible to put down. I've tried twice, and both times I kept reading until the end of the book. This is one good book. Read it.
Rating: Summary: This book kept me up all night!!! Review: I love all Robin Cook books, but invasion kept me up all night. I couldn't put it down. It's one of those books that you want to sneak a peek at the end to make sure all the characters made it out safely. I found out too late that this book had been a tv mini movie and I missed seeing it. It's a book not to miss. The main gist of the book is about an alien virus that has taken over the town, and is looking to take over the world. Very scary thought!
Rating: Summary: IT'S A REAL PAGE-TURNER! Review: Robin Cook's Invasion is the best book I have read in a long time. The characters are described very well and are very beliveable. You cannot put the book down once you start reading it. I reccomend it very strongly.
Rating: Summary: BOOOOOORING Review: This was my first Robin Cook. It was bad. Some people may have liked it, but I didn't.The plot is creative and interresting, but I found the book boring. It's a good thing I ignored this book and read some of his better books.
Rating: Summary: Get back to earth! Review: I have been a devoted fan of Dr. Cook until this novel. It started out ok and went downhill from there. The author is a medical murder mystery writer not a sci-fi writer. The story line was so predictable I skipped paragraphs just to get it over with. No matter how awful a book is I will read it to the end because I paid for it. If I could have returned it I would have. Skip this book and read his other novels they're much better.
Rating: Summary: An Attention Grabber! Review: This was the first Robin Cook book I read, and it captured my attention from the first bit! After I read the book, I wanted to read the rest of Robin Cook's books. I had my mom read the book, and she will not read it at night because when you start it, you can't put it down. It is one of my favorite books of all times!
Rating: Summary: An embarrassing crock! Review: I can't even believe I finished reading this amateurish attempt at a half-way decent waste of resources (ink, paper, shelf space.) I started this with high hopes but they were immediately dashed and stomped out. I just wanted to break down and cry after reading this book. Don't get me wrong--Robin Cook is a great, experienced , and talented author. ITS JUST THAT HE REGRESSED WITH THIS BLINDING USE FOR CHEAP KINDLING. I lost considerable respect for him after reading this laxadazical daydream for medical literature. This piece of flamingo feces was consistent with its mediocre characters, cliche and repelling plot and anorexically weak and dilluted ending. END
Rating: Summary: Awful. Just awful. Review: In short, it's the only book I've ever thrown away. I began to read this book with high hopes. The novel begins with some promise, but quickly degenerates into a mix of clichéd plot twists and unbearably forced dialogue. I can't help but suspect that Cook's heart wasn't in this project. Let's hope for better in the future.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous!!! Review: This was one of Robin Cooks best. The storyline was incredibly fascinating. The fact that he took something as seemingly innocent as a rock and made it such a huge part of the storyline...great! Being intrigued by aliens and anything medical, i loved the fact that he intertwined them into one great book! The characters had realistic emotions, thoughts, and ideas. So good i accidently bought it 3 times. Would love to read more along this line.
