Summary: A gutsy protagonist
Review: When I picked up my first Jan Burke I lucked out by selecting BONES. It deserved the Edgar it got! It was exciting to read about a female protagonist who is gutsy, independent, and a bit of a smart-mouth, like the main character in my Alaska medevac series. I loved it when she taunted serial killer Nick Parrish in order to get him to do something stupid, and her line about the inadequacy of his private parts is one I'll remember for quite some time. Good job, Jan. I'm hoping the title of your next, FLIGHT, refers to flying, not escape, because I'd like to see what you do with my own chosen series subject.

Summary: Could NOT put it down !
Review: This book was recommended by Amazon.com, and it was NOT a disappointment. I stayed up until 4 a.m. reading it the first night, and finished it the next day. Very suspensful and well written.

Summary: Them Bones!
Review: O.k. this book will diffently keep you on the edge of your seat! I think "Bones" is a completely different Jan Burke book than what we are used to, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. If you have a weak stomach I have to warn you there are parts that could get to you. The bad guy is someone you just love to hate. If you are a fan of Irene Kelly series DO NOT pass up this book.

Summary: Bones by Jan Burke
Review: I just recently discovered the Irene Kelly series, and am quickly becoming one of Jan Burke's devoted fans. This book is a suspense filled, spine-tingling read. Just don't read it late at night when you're home alone. Ms. Burke has created a memorable, charismatic serial killer in Nick Parrish, who is as devoted to his work as Hannibal Lecter. Irene Kelly becomes the focus of his attentions after he engineers a horrific escape from his captors in a scene of unbelievable carnage. Kelly is a reporter married to a cop, which causes many complications in her life. She's a remarkably likable, well rounded protagonist who has a strong marriage, good friends and lovable pets. Burke's portrayal of the cadaver locating dog, Bingle, is worth the price of the book. She's a fine writer who has created believable characters and has made me care about them.

Summary: Loved this book
Review: Just about the time most books would end, Jan Burke give you another plot twist. I couldn't put it down. I never knew where she was going. With so many of today's mysteries, the process is so predictable. Not Jan Burke. Much more interesting than Grisham or Cornwall.

Summary: Loved the ending
Review: I have always enjoyed the Irene Kelly character and would love to know more about her neighbor Jack. However, this book is terrific. It held my interest and I read it from cover to cover. Nicky Parrish got a very fitting ending. Winner!

Summary: An evil villan can't beat the heroine with moxy...
Review: This was my first J.Burke book. I'm planning to read the other books by this author.

The villan is one sadistic, smart sucker. I enjoyed how Irene was challenged but not beaten by this sicko. Irene's husband was supportive but not sappy. The first several chapters are gripping and hook you into this fine story.

Summary: These Bones might haunt you
Review: Burke does a pretty good job of maintaining the suspense of Bones, although I found the Ben Sheridan character more interesting than the protagonist Irene. This is a killer-showing-the-cops-where-the-bodies-are-buried thriller, with the standard turn-around of the villain stalking someone in that group.

The book is easy to read, and you can hurry through it. There are a couple of twists, some predictable. But the bad guy is creepy enough, and the main characters intriguing enough, that you want to finish the book and give it to your best friend.

Summary: Jan Burke delivers!
Review: Jan Burke delivers once again with "Bones." A dark, sharply written novel for anyone who enjoys a strong female lead. The bad guy gives Hannibal Lector a run for his money!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent, A Great Read!
Review: This was my first Irene Kelly mystery. And it won't be my last. Now I have to go and read all the others in the series. Bones is an excellent choice for anyone who likes the mystery/suspense genre. I started it at 9PM last nite and finished it at 2:15AM today. Well worth staying up for. NOT a book to read when your spouse is away. So lock the doors and enjoy!
