Summary: A "MUST READ" for every fighter pilot - current or future!
Review: I spent a career flying fighters for the U.S Navy and I assure you that "Check Six" is one of the few books I've read which actually gives the reader a true sense of what carrier life and naval aviation is like. "Check Six" puts you in the cockpit, in the Ready Room and on the carrier better than any novel of recent memory. Belongs on the shelf next to "Flight of the Intruder" as the only books truly depicting what it feels like to launch and recover on the pitching deck of a carrier. This is not some glamorized, hollywood version of flying fighters, this is a realistic portrayal written by someone whose been there. KUDOS to Bob "Banzai" Norris. When's the next book coming out?

Summary: Exciting and I couldn't put it down.
Review: I tried to read Check Six in between doing my chores__cooking,cleaning,etc. I ended up reading until I was finished and the heck with anything else..we ate sandwiches that evening. This would make a great movie. I was particularly impressed with the fact that the author didn't need to resort to filthy language and heavy sex scenes in order to captivate the reader..He knew his subject and he skillfully wove his story with mystery and terror and keeping the reader thoroughly involved in the plot.

Summary: I didn't know he could write too...
Review: I'm Bob Norris' son, and I've spent my life trekking around the countryside, watching my dad fly Tomcats, then Eagles, then Hornets, all the time knowing he was one of the best in the business. But he never told me he could write too! I gave up some valuable partying, I mean studying time to read his book, and let me tell you, it was time well spent. This book kept me up past 1 am on several consecutive nights, I just couldn't put it down. The unique storyline, exceptional characters, and hard-hitting action sequences had my imagination running wild. I felt like I knew the characters personally, from having grown up around their sources of inspiration. Don't worry folks, I'll be pressuring him to get the next book out ASAP. Way to go, dad.

Summary: Good reading for would-be carrier pilots and everyone else!
Review: I've just finished Check Six and enjoyed every bit of it. I just got my private pilot certificate a few months ago, at age 61, so it isn't likely that I'll ever get a chance to try landing on a carrier--though I'd like to!--but I think I got a good taste of what it must feel like while reading the book. I don't know if Bob fNorris is flying again, but if not, he can at least be assured that the vicarious flying he's doing in his writing means something to me and, I'm sure, to his other readers. I'll pass the book on to my flight instructor, a 25 year old, who also likes reading--or maybe to his boss, Becky. (You'll understand the Becky part when you read the book.) --Don Maxwell

Summary: Excellent action book
Review: it is refreshing to read about a woman who is not a victum or superwoman. The flying stories really put the reader in the cockpit, even those of us that have never flown. The indiviual characters in the book are real and believable, not caricatures. Ever body believes in what they are doing and it's left to the reader to decide who are the bad guys.

This is a real page turner that keeps you interested from start to finish. It's time for this author to get a sequel out!!! It really is that good!

Summary: Excellent Action Thriller
Review: it's amazing to read a story where the female character is neither a super hero or victum. This book is a real page turner that keeps you waiting for what is next. The action is real and puts right in the cockpit and on the flight deck. I'm holding on for a sequel!

Summary: Verissimilitude, thy name is Norris
Review: It's clear that Norris knows at least two things at the level of a master: Air Combat and the English language. My guess is that he knows a lot more than that. I have over 3000 hrs in jet aircraft and Norris brought me right back to that place where fear and joy combine - the cockpit of a jet fighter. One character - Hoser Joe Santana - based upon a real Navy fighter pilot - represents a man the likes of which the Navy will likely never see again. An exciting, exhilirating and in places emotionally wrenching experience, This book is a must!

Summary: No end in sight.
Review: One of the best 'page turners' I've read. The author has you immersed in the story before you know it. The story line is good, the plot is believable (for the most part), and the action is non-stop. However, you're left with an ending that is inadequate, at best. I don't understand why someone would go to such lengths to develop a plot, and then leave the reader wondering 'what happened ?'.

Summary: Check Six convinced me to apply for a ROTC in the navy
Review: Since I'm applying for colleges and other opportunities, I've been hunting around for information on the Navy. My father, a veteran pilot suggested I read Check Six. He swears it is the best account of naval aviation he has ever read. Thanks to Norris, I've decided to apply for a ROTC scolarship in the Navy. It is truly the most exciting book I have ever read. It actually puts you in the cockpit for the wildest ride of you life. Thanks Bob Norris!
