Rating: Summary: Lacked punch expected from Tom Clancy Review: The beating heart of America's defence didn't beat that much in this Tom Clancy. The beginning was exciting and promised a lot but it fell away considerably towards the end. The plot for mine was too thick and enough time was not taken to explain who the characters were.
Rating: Summary: Was Tom Not Able To Describe It More Realisticly? Review: ~I am a faithful fan of Tom Clancy, and I live in Republic Of Korea, the field of <Op Center(!)~ satelite, but that doesn't make any defference). In other words, North Korea will not agree on detente so easily, therefore senario in <Op Center
Rating: Summary: Not realistic, nor is it entertaining. Review: This is a very weak effort. Why does Clancy feel the need to churn out so many books? Hasn't he taken enough of our money? He keeps on putting works like this out with his name on them, he will lose his readers. You want good special operations fiction? Try Bob Mayer's series of books. He's got six that revolve around special operations missions that are outstanding.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!!! Review: Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Mirror Image is a gripping novel, that brings to light the intricate workings of the intelligence community. From the very start you are drawn in by the amazingly entertaining plot line. Two Op-Centers, one Russian and one American, virtual duplicates of each other are going head to head. It is a race against the clock, and each second counts. Only time will tell the future of the world, in this thriller. It is a must read for anyone and everyone. The 436 pages seem to fly by. Tom Clancy and Steve Pieczenik have done an outstanding job with this book.
Rating: Summary: Not Typical Tom Clancy Stuff Review: If you enjoyed reading this book, may I suggest books such as Fox 'n Socks, Pat The Bunny, and The Smurfs go to Mars. These works are far more stimulating than this book by Clancy. Maybe it's time for Tom to get back in front of the word processor and write something that is fresh and actually his.
Rating: Summary: Not Clancy - poor plot - wordy - childish Review: Not up to the usual Clancy style - concepts - or technical expertise. I wonder if Clancy really wrote this dud?
Rating: Summary: Tied with Op-Center, for best book of the series Review: I read this book before the other ones, and it made me want to read them all, and i have, this was one of the best books that i have ever read!!
Rating: Summary: A ghost writer's TRASH CENTER Review: CRINGE. Another spin-off novel about Jeff Rovin's Op Center. Tom Clancy can do a lot better than put his name on this piece of trash. This is dire. OK, so fiction has to take liberties, but who in their right mind would send a million-dollar piece of hardware, the Regional Op Centre, into the most vulnerable part of the world? It's like leaving the door open on your house when you go abroad saying 'come on in, burglar, steal it all!' The grammar and storytelling makes Enid Blyton look like Tom Clancy himself and the dialogue is as bad as the script to the movie ARMAGEDDON, if not cornier. If techno-thrillers are going to get this bad, I'm going to go back to reading Dean Koontz and Stephen King, or stick to Dale Brown, Larry Bond, Michael DiMercurio, Cussler, Coyle, etc. Even better suggestion. Stick to the proper Clancy. Three Op-Center stories was enough. And if you want better Middle East-based thrillers, read SHADOWS OF STEEL by Dale Brown or THE ENEMY WITHIN by Larry Bond. Avoid Crap-Center.
Rating: Summary: Read real Special Ops stuff-- not this Review: I bought some books in the JFK Special Warfare Museum during my last trip to Bragg that kick ass. By Bob Mayer, they are a series on Special Forces with a fictional character Dave Riley. Looked them up here-- most are out of print although Eyes of The Hammer is still selling. Check Bob's web site for these books. Also found from that site that he writes under other names now-- check out THE OMEGA MISSILE under the name Joe Dalton and even AREA 51 under the name Robert Doherty. Same guy; great stuff.
Rating: Summary: The made for TV version was captivating. Review: In todays jungle of attitudes abour our Soldiers returning home from War Conflicts, we can see that Tom Clancy's Op Center struck a cord in many a family situations. Most of us don't know the true meaning of why our Love ones choose not to rejoin the family unite. They ive and associate close to their relearned environment. It's a fact that some are carring the burden of conflict training fallout on their shoulders. This story reminds us all not to judge the Homeless Guy on the street corner, for but the grace of God, this could be your, my, Father, Son or Husband. Now, I must read the printed words of this heartwarming story: A Fathers sacrifice for his Son's sake was a touching theme.
