Summary: It was tolerable.
Review: First off, the only reason I picked up Op-Center was because it was created by Tom Clancy and "the other guy", and as a (at least I think I am) deicated Clancy fan, I feel a sense of duty to read anything written or created by him. And no it wasn't actually written by Tom, instead it was written by some guy named Jeff Rovin. That explains a LOT of the, er, unusual things in the text. Errors that Tom would NEVER have let by in one of his "real" books like at one point an F-117A Nighthawk takes off from an AIRCRAFT CARRIER (it really was in the text) and then uses all sorts of exotic weapons which I'm pretty sure an F-117 was never designed to carry. Well, now that that's off my chest, Op-Center is tolerable (barely) as far as techno/spy thrillers go, but it wasn't 1/000 as good as the "real", "pure" Clancy novels

Summary: What a great book
Review: After reading this book I realized that I had a problem. How on earth will I find a book that tasted that great. Again Clancy showed how talented he is. I am so sorry that I can't rate this book witn a 20

Summary: Key events unreal!
Review: The smartest anti espionage minds in America fall for the old banana in the tailpipe trick? Missles flying through a cave? I am no military expert but I don't believe it. Then the childhood baseball scene takes the cake. Avoid this looser!

Summary: If you like Clancy's books, do not read Op-Center!
Review: When I first saw the Op Center books I thought: "Great, these are Clancy books, they are worth reading." Boy! How wrong I was!

Being a devoted Clancy fan I picked up the Op Center books and started reading them. Due to availability I started with Op Center: Mirror Image, which was passable. Although I was kind of disappointed at the storyline. Then I read Op-Center: Acts of War. That was bad!!! I couldn't believe that Tom Clancy, the same that wrote Debt of Honor, Executive Orders, wrote this book. Although extremely disappointed at the book, I decided to take a chance and read Op Center. That was one of my worst choices in life.

Clancy is good at presenting unbelievable events and make the reader think, "My GOD! This can really happen!" But somehow he did not use this talent when writing the Op Center books. They are a major disappointment to all Clancy fans. The characters created in the Op-Center series are too weak to play a good enough role in the story, which is already unbelievable and with such weak characters the book become worse. There are moments in which I set down the book and wonder, "Did Tom Clancy write this, or someone else did?"

Summary: a non-stop edge of your seat thriller!!
Review: Read all the Op-Center's. You'll love them. Trust me

Summary: Builds on characters in first book
Review: Clancy builds on the characters created in his first book of this 4-book (so far) saga. This story is an increbidle one of a rival Op-Center opening in St. Petersburg, Lithuania. I was thoroughly enthralled with this book from the time I picked it up and started reading. The death of Wally Squires in the end did bother me since I enjoyed his character from the first book, but his replacement -- to be revealed in Games of State -- seems just as heroic and more than adequate to fill Squires's shoes. A must read for any true Clancy fan

Summary: Must-read for all Clancy fans
Review: This book is the best to come from Tom Clancy in a long time. For those people sick of reading about Jack Ryan and all of the convoluted plots and dull dialogue in Clancy's recent works, this is a breath of fresh air. There are several sub-plots, all of which are easy to follow and leave you turning the pages to find out what happens. Paul Hood, Mike Rodgers, and the rest of the Op-Center gang are a new group of Clancy characters that are sure to go down in history with Jack Ryan, James Greer, Bart Mancuso and Jonesy, and Cathering Ryan! A must read

Summary: Probably the best of this "Clancy-inspired" series
Review: This book spent more time delving into the psychological make-up ofthe characters than previous books, as well as more on the geo-politicalramifications of the events. I found this to be more in the style ofa "real" Clancy novel, though a bit tedious at times. Like the long economicexplanations in Clancy's "Debt of Honor," the descriptions were long and deep, but didn't quite get in the way of the plot, though close at times.Just when you thought the plot was getting predictable, the ghost author threw inenough twists and turns to keep me up late some nights - my indicator for a good novel. Also, you don't need to read all the other Op-Center books beforethis one, but it helps to have read at least one in order to know the basic story-line.To me, all "real" Clancy novels are usually rated a 10 (Executive Decision might getan 11), John Grisham gets a 9,this edition of Op-Center gets a 7, and the rest of this series gets 5-6.Definitely worth reading if you like this genre, and are willing to suspend some disbelief atsome of the action

Summary: What a War!
Review: I just read through the reviews written. Mr. Clancy has really sparked some "Acts of War"! On my part, I really had to struggle to get the time to read another of his works when I had just finished with one. What a prolific writer! In any case, if you're looking for the "Mr. Clancy of the thick novels" in this work (or in other Op-Center works), you'll be disappointed. On the other hand, if you're looking for the political scenario and analysis, crisis management, with some adventure to boot, then it's a terrific work. This time, it's the capture of the Op-Center's regional command van by some Kurds wanting to instigate trouble between Turkey and Syria (for starters). Here comes the Striker team to the rescue. It's okay, believe me
