Rating: Summary: Stereotypical Potrayal Of Syrians Review: I shall just give my brief opinion on this book. I agree that the story is action-packed, but, its stereotypical potrayal of Syrians are too atrocious!
Rating: Summary: Worst Clancy book by far... Review: This novel was an obsolete combination of stereotypes and badly researched facts. The story has definitely nothing to do with the situation in Germany. Usually I enjoy Clancy's books because of their acurate background research. But after this it makes me wonder how "acurate" the other novels really are... Stay away from this one!
Rating: Summary: It had some absurd events... Review: First of all, the Turkish soldiers is not that stupid to land near a so-called attacked car and search in without taking some precautions. Secondly Ataturk Dam is one of the largest of all around the world and it is not that easy to sabotage it. In case you succeeded you need nearly an atomic blast to blow it off, not a few dynamites. On the other hand the topic is chosen so good that except the asparagasses above the scenerio was original. If the author had been careful of what I had written above the book would be a very good one.. By the way I am looking forward to read new books that would lead to a t.v. production soon..
Rating: Summary: Best so far Review: I wasn't a big fan of the first two op center books, but this one shows definite improvement.
Rating: Summary: WHAT HAPPENED TOM? Review: IF CLANCY ACTUALLY WROTE THESE THEN HE HAS FALLEN FAR FROM THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER AND DEBT OF HONOR. ALL THE OP-CENTER BOOKS ARE TERRIBLE. THEY DEPART SO FAR FROM CLANCY'S USUALLY EXCELLENT WRITING STYLE. MR. CLANCY NEEDS TO BE CAREFUL WHAT HE PUTS HIS NAME ON. I HAVE READ ALL THE OP-CENTER BOOKS ONLY BECAUSE HIS NAME WAS ON THEM AND ALL THROUGH THEM I WAS WONDERING WHEN HE WAS GOING TO START WITH ACTUAL WRITING INSTEAD OF USELESS DRIBBLE. IF YOU ARE A CLANCY FAN STAY CLEAR OF THE OP-CENTER BOOKS AND STICK TO HIS BOOKS ON RYAN.
Rating: Summary: Passable but not as superb as the proper Clancy books Review: This one began well with a terrorist bombing in New York of the Queen`s Tunnel and the setting up of the Russian Op-Center in the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. The St Petersburg locations are quite well done and familiar, as this is a place I have visited and could visualise the locations portrayed, but as for the Special Forces intrusion, dear me! They might as well have sent the Hair Bear Bunch in. In the real world, if there was to be an infiltration of Russia like that, surely the appropriate authorities would send highly trained Navy SEALS or SAS, whatever the nationality, etc.? The train sequences weren`t too bad, but on the whole it needed more. In some parts a good cure for insomnia! Games Of State is far better, the first Op-Center is also worth a read, but this one might be good for a plane or beach read but that`s about it.
Rating: Summary: Capitvating and holds one's attention Review: Good insight into the operation of our government. Interesting storyline, well-paced.
Rating: Summary: Not bad, but Clancy can do much better Review: An average attempt at transforming the superb OP-Center TV movie to literature(not). Much of the plot is a passable rehash of Larry Bond`s excellent Red Phoenix, although the Japanese targeting of the Nodong Scuds and the politics surrounding it was a good twist. But did we really have to put up with the snivelling Gregory Donald character who spent the entire novel wallowing in self pity over his wife blown up in the Seoul bombing at the start(another plagarism - Red Phoenix began with a Seoul massacre!) - he should have been written out at the start. Save the pulp romances for dumb housewives! Other than that, and the goof - a Stealth fighter, the F117 cannot take off from an aircraft carrier(get a life!), and the secondhand plot, this is a passable first effort. Games of State is far superior. This one`s good for a plane or beach read to pass the time, but nowhere near as excellent as Tom Clancy`s real long novels.
Rating: Summary: More on the Acts of War Review: If you have read my review for this book, which should be on this page; you must also read PKK's own thought about the book. The bloody terrorist organization's US spokesman says: "Rest assured, the Turkish war mongers will make this newest concoction of Clancy and Pieczenik a required reading for their officers who are versed in English."So strange. Somebody writes a book about Turkey and PKK; and neither Turks nor PKK seems to like it. Neither should you.
Rating: Summary: At least Clancy came up with different charachters. Review: I enjoyed this book. I didn't even know it was part of a series, but heck I read it anyway. You don't need the other books to help you know what was going on. The book bascially, like a seqeul should, stood alone. You could read this book, and not need to know what happened before. Tom and Steve will tell you. It was a good book, lot of action. At least Tom Clancy came up with different characters. My point I'm trying to get out is that he writes about, in all his books (except Without Remorse) about Jack Ryan.
