Summary: Fun To Read and Well-Written
Review: From the first terse, action-packed sentence on, the reader almost instantly becomes totally immersed in the story, the characters, the country-side, and history in the making. Mr. Munger has written a novel that is a joy to read and difficult to put down. His "action" sequences are written in a terse, almost breathless style, which add to the atmosphere of great haste, excitement, and fear. And the more contemplative sections correspondingly have a slower, more detailed and descriptive usage of the English language. His eye for detail as displayed in his descriptive passages easily lets the reader actually see the surroundings. "The Legacy" is also just plain fun to read because of the twists and turns in the plot that leave the reader wondering until the very end of the book what the ultimate outcome will be. In summary, it's well written, and 'fun!' I'm looking forward to the author's subsequent novels.

Summary: Attention gripper
Review: I just finished reading "The Legacy" and have turned the book over and am re-reading it again. The stories (one in each half of the book) were easy to follow and were real attention getters. The history of the region and the interaction of the political groups is another story in itself. I am re-reading the book to once again enjoy the characters and to develop a clearer sense of the times and places and political environment these stories were set in.

I am facinated with the interweaving of the fiction and non fiction elements of the book. All the while I was reading I was "seeing" very clear pictures of the people, places and events. I was impressed with the "realness" of the stories; real life stories do not necessarily have happy endings but have elements of happiness, strife, love, pain. These stories will allow you to relive your own experiences in "real" story. You will forget that this is a novel, a fictional story but will instead find yourself "believing".

My favorite author is "Michner" but I find myself hoping to read another "Munger" novel in the future.

Summary: You won't be able to put it down.
Review: I was captivated by "The Legacy" - it's story, and characters. I couldn't put the book down!! Mark Munger did a great job developing the characters into real people. I haven't been this impressed since reading "The Perfect Storm". I thought it would be difficult to follow a storyline based during WW II, but I was wrong. The first half of the book sets the entire story up and makes it more real. I had to remind myself that this was fiction. I am looking forward to reading his second novel.

Summary: Gripping Murder Mystery Makes an Impressive Debut Novel
Review: If you like John Grisham, you will love how Mark Munger draws you into the vivid scenes he describes in this page-turner. You need not be interested in history or NE Minnesota to become engrossed with this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's two books in one, logically intertwined, with never a dull paragraph. Highly recommended.
