Rating: Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Review: This book was totally delightful in its portrayal of colorful, yet down to earth characters. The book manages to gain and hold your attention. I could not put it down. It was interesting to read about a man facing common dating issues that woman also face. Especially Black woman -- looking for a good, true love. It is good to know that there are still men who have goals and ambitions, yet they share a common denominator with women --insecurites and fears along the journey to discover self and ones niche in this world of confusion and miscommunication. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a laugh and feel an honest soul along the way.
Rating: Summary: Well!! Review: This was my first time reading Omar Tyree's work. Although I feel Bobby's character was well developed. I did tire of his whiny attitude. It got somewhat boring!!! It's like this, Bobby, did not miss his water until the well ran dry. In other words, he realized after turning away from Faye for Pearl that he had made the wrong choice. Hey, we all do sometime. However, I am happy he realized who his soul mate was and got it together!! O.K.!!
Rating: Summary: This was a great book for character content, I cared. Review: The development of each character in this story was presented smoothly and right on time. There was not one question as to who was being discussed or the need to place them in the story when they appeared.I'm waiting for the next book by Mr. Tyree with great anticipation.
Rating: Summary: Good look at a male perspective Review: 'Do Right Man', Bobby D was typical, a little naive and confused. I never really got the feeling that HE knew what he wanted in a relationship. I didn't think he a was wimp, his character displayed a warm and sensitive man, just unsure about the best direction for his personal life. Some people take longer to mature than others, it was as if he was waiting for something to happen. The story was a little slow in spots, I was surprised since he determined that Faye was his 'soulmate', that he never even tried to locate her. Don't know if I like Faye's getting pregnant but, realisticly things do happen. The book showed a lot of strong Black men, that was a plus. I really did enjoy reading this book.
Rating: Summary: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKAAAAAAAYYYYYY Review: I think the book was alright, in the beginning it looked like it was going places, it just got so lax, to where I felt pressure to finish reading the book. I can't just pick up another book and start reading it, so it took all my might to finish reading this book. OOOH, Bobby Dallas was a "Do Right Man".
Rating: Summary: Two thumbs down!! Review: I did not like this book at all!!! I only finished it b/c I paid money for it and didn't want to waste my money. Bobby was the biggest cry baby that I have ever seen (or not seen since I read about him). All he did was make excuses and blame everyone else for his lack of a spine. It is possible to be a MAN w/o being the whimp that Bobby was and w/o being a dog. I was very disappointed in this book, especially b/c I loved Mr. Tyree's debut novel _Flyy Girl_. I gave the book 2 stars b/c it was well written, but I hated the story and the main character.
Rating: Summary: Entertaing read! Bobby Dallas is truly A Do Right Man!! Review: The amazing thing about this book is that I felt thay I truly understood Bobby Dallas. His trials and tribulations (although certainly not his naivete) are a good view of the other side of relationships. I laughed, cried, and even fumed when he didn't seem to be able to see Pearl and Faye for the women they were. I agree with the reviewer who was thrown off balance by Faye's pregnancy--it sort of gave a rushed, and-they-lived-happily-ever-after ending to what was otherwise an engaging, funny, and timely story. I especially loved the fact that despite what he went through professionally and personally, Bobby never lost that modest quality that grabbed me from the first page and kept me enthralled to the last word. Good job, Omar Tyree!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Very good book! Review: Since this was the first time I read something by Mr. Tyree, I found this book to be very good. I liked the writing from the male perspective. I also like the fact that Bobby realized that the key to a good relationship was a good friendship, which was what he had with Faye and that a good relationship can't be based on looks and the other stuff that Pearl was about. I loved the conversation he had with Abdul in the restaurant when Abdul was talking about making things fit when they really don't, which is what a lot of men do. Excellent read. Can't wait to read Flyy Girl and Single Mom.
Rating: Summary: a major disappointment Review: All the right elements were there: the NY, Washington DC/ Howard Univ. settings, an interesting career, NBA players, and more. Unfortunately, Tyree didnt seem to know what to do with them. The result was a flat, boring and one dimensional story with a weak, naive and frankly, stupid main character. I hated Flyy Girl and thought that this book might change my perceptions of the author and his work. Unfortunately, it only served to confirm what I already thought. I don't think I'll be reading any more of his books.
Rating: Summary: Good Book !!! Review: Its about about time an author wrote a good book about a regular around da way guy. Bobby Dallas was portrayed as that type of guy , but he had to learn how to be a man thru the ups and downs of his radio career and with his experience with women. I also liked how his younger brother Brad played a role in how he became a man; he became more responsible and finally realized that the only way he could ever be happy was to settle down with a REAL BLACK WOMAN . Keep up the good work MR. Tryee! I cant wait until I get my hands on "Single Mom."
