Summary: It was alright
Review: This was my first time reading on of Omar's books. It was alright but I was expecting more out of it. I agree with some of the other reviewers. It did carry on a bit much. But I enjoyed it. I really let you know what men are thinking. He caught Faye just in time, when she was single. Because we all know you be stuck in relationships we don't really want to be in. Most people don't sit around and wait!!!

Summary: Quite enjoyable
Review: The author does a good job of showing us why Bobby is a "do right man" while keeping him human. The most enjoyable part of the book for me was the truly honest thoughts that went through Bobby's mind. It was interesting to see things through the male perspective.

I would definitely recommend the book

Summary: A Great Read - Not all books have to be syrupy page-turners
Review: Contrary to the negativity of other reviewers I think this is an excellent book. Not all books have to be page-turners, keeping us running from one romance or love scene to the next. Those who want that, or who want to savor romance will be disappointed. But this is a great read of a young man moving from school age to maturity and marraige. I think its a MUST read for young men. It throws in many gems of advice along the way. This is needed. Back when I was coming up there was nothing like this around, although there were the classics: James Baldwin, Malcolm X, Richard Wright, etc. But Omar's book is contemporary and very easy to read. No, the sudden surge in the subject's income is not something that happens every day, but it does happen. There ARE young people who make fabulous incomes. Unrealistic? What about the livestyles in Waiting to Exhale? And remember, this is a novel. If the subject of a light novel is struggling financiallly all his life do you think alot of people would be reading it? Remember the dittie: Romance without Finance is a Nuisance! I find it great that this tells the story of a young person working in a particular industry - in this case Radio. There are analogies and comparisons and contrasts to be made with other careers or industries. I would like to see a novel such as this involving other fields as well. Finally, I would say that our subject doesn't provide a surfeit of detailed page-turning romance throughout the novel since he was waiting for his "soul-mate" before giving us the close-up. Had he examined and described in detail each of his 30 prior affairs then he would have been merely bragging, and cheapening the meaning of real romance. Perhaps if I had read Fly Girl and/or Single Mom as did many of the other reviewers I would have a different perspective. Or perhaps the gender is the determinant of the perspective here.

Summary: A Deep Eye Opener from Omar Tyree
Review: This is the first book I read by Omar Tyree. A Do Right Man, featured many obstacles and complete details on how rough it is to face society with all of its ups and downs. The main character Bobby Dallas is a senior at Howard University, who is in love with the most sophisticated, and popular girl on campus; Pearl Davis. Bobby Dallas also has a long term friendship with a fellow student, Faye Butler. Faye has a deep secret crush on Bobby, but can't bring herself to tell Bobby how she feels. After graduation Bobby moves to The Big Apple with his sweetheart Pearl and they come across some hard and difficult times. Bobby is having a hard time with the economics of his dream job. His girlfriend Pearl is not around when he needs her, ever since her modeling career took off and came into action. Bobby cannot keep up with Pearl's whereabouts and he's worried about the type of life she's living (The Fast Life). After Pearl breaks off the relationship between her and Bobby, Bobby is broken hearted, but he was expecting for this type of situation to happen sooner or later. Bobby Dallas was wondering how he was going to live without Pearl, keeping up with the rent and handling living alone in a big city. Bobby decides to quit his job and move back to Washington D.C to reunite with his long lost friend Faye Butler. After returning, Faye is not at all interested in Bobby, and Bobby's disappointment takes over him. Bobby is faced with temptation that he cannot resist, but in the end he gets his life together and everything he wanted and dreamed about comes into reality, including Faye. Omar Tyree did a wonderful job in writting this book. I enjoyed the way he went into a lot of details and explained all the actions of the characters. This book deserves two thumbs up. It has charisma, charm, good details and plenty of humor.

Summary: Slow to get into.
Review: This was the first book that I read by Omar Tyree. The story seemed to drag on and was difficulty to get into and stay focus. It took me about three months to finish it, but I was determined to do it. The story line was too slow, and some it seemed far fetched. Especially, when Bobby's income hit the hundred thousand dollar range as a talk show host. I was glad that he got back together with Faye, but her being pregnant was unnecessary. They should have just gotten married.

Summary: Didnt even finish!! IT DRAGGED ON TOOO MUCH!!!
Review: I read Fly Girl and Single Mom, but A Do Right Man seemed to drag on too much. I didnt even get to finish and I got bored after a while, Omar could have done better to try and catch even a teenagers attention. Maybe the next one will be a little bit better, I HOPE!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Not bad at all. Great EXTENDED reading.
Review: I didn't get into Fly Girl that much. I did pick up on Omar Tyree's writing style. He is a bit wordy and very discriptive. Sometimes it seems like a waste of paper...but this novel was pretty good. It was a thick and wordy book, but once you get to the end, you will appreciate it. Omar is very descriptive when it come to sights, sounds, and feelings, and it is very easy to get into the book and put yourself right in scenario. Booby Dallas is a funny man who does make the wrong choices even though they point him to the right choices. A very good book, but if I were Omar's editor, there were a couple chapter that weren't necessary and would've made the book a pleasent, intermediate reading book. How long did it take me to read? 4 weeks. Way to long...but the ending kind of made up for that. OMAR, YOU SHOULD REALLY WRITE A FOLLOW UP OR SOMETHING TO THIS BOOK. BOBBY DALLAS' LIFE IS ONLY BEGINNING.

Summary: what the ....!?
Review: I am usually a fast reader (a book a day)when not working. But this book took me forever to get through. The main character was just too tempermental and just didn't appeal to me at all. I thought it would NEVER end. Not a good effort at all.
