Summary: Mary pulls off yet another page turner
Review: Okay, I think that by now, all of us Mary Higgens Clark fans got the whole thing down by now: Some lady is pulled into some murder mystery usually involving some political or upperclass thing, nearly gets herself killed, falls in love, while at the same time being around a whole bunch of people which you can cross off the list one by one as they develop reasons for murdering someone. Still, she always gets them original, and doesn't dish off a whole bunch of cloned books. That's why I love her. Again, we're not disappointed. In "Before I Say Goodbye" wannabe congresswoman Nell goes through the loss of her husband when the boat he was on with several associates suddenly explodes. The thing is, Adam (her husband) may have been involved with an architectural scandel, leaving way for anyone to have a motive to kill him. To learn more, Nell seeks the aid of psycics. To my surprise, the book did not totally dive into the psycic thing, only putting it a healthy dose that we could all deal with. The story is very exciting, especially with the two side stories that eventually weave their way into the main plot. The story is not exceptionally good, but is still quite excellent, and Mary definitly gets points for originality, even though it does follow the same rules. But again, that's why I love her books. So if you're a Clark fan, read this!

Summary: Decent book, if not up to her usual
Review: Mary Higgins Clark's newest features her usual mix: an intelligent, sensitive heroine; a series of likable, realistic supporting characters, a sensitive, caring man that appears midway through the book, hinting at a possible happy ending. Ms. Clark, as always, writes very well, but the reason I rated this book as three stars was due to a very unlikely coincidence, and a glaringly obvious flaw in the plot. A good, unmemorable read, but far from her usual standard.

Summary: Sick of MHC
Review: I have read every one of MHC's books and this will be my last. Maybe because I was younger when I picked up her first novel, I did enjoy her writing but not anymore. I will admit the story itself was O.K., but her style of writing is so sophomoric, that I can not stomach another book. Yes I did read to the end to find out what happened, eventho I did guess a little over half way through, but noone talks or thinks the way she writes. At least this book left out all her 1930 phrases such as calling everyone "darling" a phrase used very little now-a-days. I'm sorry to be so harsh, but I just don't know how this woman has become the best-seling author that she is unless it is that quality of writing is no longer a prerequsite for a good novel. I also have to agree with other reviews that I was very disappointed in her use of psychic phenomenon. I was looking forward to a good story based on that but was disillusioned and frustrated that it was never put to good use.

Summary: Before I Say Good-bye
Review: Another classic from one of my favorite authors! I think I have read every book she has ever written in a matter of days. Her latest is no exception. She has once again made a page turner that will keep you up until all hours of the night. I only wish she could write these novels as quickly as I can read them!

Summary: Disappointed newbie reader
Review: Well, I'm not going to review this book in a harsh way but I will be honest. This was the first book I have read written by Mary Higgins Clark and I was completely disappointed. I read all these reviews about how great it was and considering it was about ghosts and psychic phenomena I decided to go ahead and purchase it. One of the reviews had stated something about MHC's writing being choppy, which I found and there really wasn't much about psychic phenomena or ghosts in the story. I was waiting for one of the chapters to grab my attention, but the only one that did was the last chapter...when I was finally finished. Oh well, on to a different book.

Summary: One of her best
Review: Admittedly, I am a MHC junkie...have read most if not all of her books...and in a sense this follows the standard MCH plot...beautiful people, set in and around New York City...heroine is a beautiful upper-crust New York lady...but the twists and turns in the plot of this novel, even including the homeless (in a very sympathetic light) and the people who deal with the beyond....is very interesting and places a different dimension on this very intriguing page-turner.

Summary: GHOST, anyone?
Review: I have been a MHC fan for years, and anxiously await her new novels, but while reading her latest, I felt like I was reading a piece from the movie GHOST. While I did enjoy the novel, I was a tad disappointed in the storylines. I feel that the herione's character was not developed enough, and instead of feeling empathy for her, I began to wish that it was she on the boat, instead of her husband. I've been noticing a trend in MHC's latest novels...they are beginning to seem like V.C. Andrew novels- there's the good girl who has all of the horrible, non-deserving things happen to her, (yet of course, she is an ultraprofessional with the best wardrobe), in comes a handsome stranger who enivtably will make it "all better" and they both live happily ever after. True fans will buy the hardcover, while everyone else will wait for it in paperback. I hope that Mrs. Clark's next novel more like her original stories.

Summary: Before I Say Good-Bye by Mary Higgins Clark
Review: Before I Say Good-bye is Mary Higgins Clark's latest mystery out. If you're already a fan of her writing you can expect the following things: the bad guys are always caught, the heroine never dies and each outfit worn by the heroine will be described in vivid detail. I'm not sure why Clark feels the need to vividly describe her well dressed heroines. It's not like the outfits contain relevant clues to the mystery being solved. Ah ha! She's wearing the polyester crepe suit with her navy blue stiletto heels. That can only mean that the doctor is innocent! But, I digress. Before I Say Goodbye is a highly enjoyable book. The plot is uncomplicated and comes to an exciting conclusion. In this book Clark, explores the realm of psychic perception. She incorporates ESP very naturally into the plot and with a minimum of overkill. My main complaint about Mary Higgins Clark is that her endings (this one included) tend to be rushed. One of Nell's husband's surprise co-conspirators is never given a motive. We (as readers) are never allowed to digest along with Nell the myriad of occurrences at the end of the book. Still I would highly recommend this book. The thing that Mary Higgins Clark is best at is, making you hungry for more.

Summary: a disappointing read
Review: I was so excited to read the latest release from one of my favorite authors. I kept reading this book waiting to be captivated as I have been in the past by her characters and plot lines. Unfortunately, this never happened. I wonder if this book was rushed just to make money. Hope her next book is better>

Summary: Another fine book from a Master Storyteller
Review: While not her greatest work, Mary Higgins Clark's latest is certainly a fine read and an entertaining diversion, especially for those looking for something to read on a lazy Sunday afternoon on the beach. The heroine, if not the most memorable, is likeable and the pace of the novel flows quickly and smoothly.

There are enough plot twists and turns to make even the less-avid Clark fan stay interested throughout.
