Summary: Her Very Worst
Review: I am a big fan of Ms. Clark's work, but I was very disappointed with this book. It was poorly written and poorly edited. One major inconsistency was already mentioned by another reviewer, but there were many others. For example, two characters have the exact same conversation with each other only 15 pages apart. Another example that is difficult to illustrate without giving away the "surprise ending" has the "villian" thinking something to him or herself in the beginning of the book that would have been impossible for the villian to be thinking. The book had a neat idea, but seemed to be hastily and sloppily written.

Summary: Clark's Brilliance Shines Through
Review: As a mystery writer with my debut novel in its initial release, I am a true admirer of the works of Mary Higgins Clark. In BEFORE I SAY GOOD-BYE, her brilliant writing talent shines through once again. This novel, her 22nd mystery, has all the elements that have made Ms. Clark a giant in our field. It has romance. It has mystery. It some vividly-drawn characters. It has a twisting and turning plot. BEFORE I SAY GOOD-BYE deals with Nell MacDermott. She is politically ambitious with her eyes on a seat in congress. Before she can run, her husband dies in an explosion. Questions arise challenging the dead man's honesty, and Nell wants to clear her late husband's name. The story spins onward from there, and it is a most enjoyable story indeed.

Summary: A fast, fun suspense novel
Review: This mystery has all of Mary Higgens Clark's trademarks. A young woman (often alone) in trouble, too many characters at first, intersting connections among those characters and a good story.This is one of the most enjoyable novels I have read in a long time. The action moves the story along and the ending is a great plot twist. I wish that it had not ended so abruptly and had explained the denoument a in a little bit more detail, however. Any fan of suspense should not be disapointed

Summary: Good, Fast Read
Review: Mary Higgins Clark is the best author I've ever read. She has a talent for making implausible scenarios seem believable. I could even suspend my disbelief in psychics for the purpose of reading this book. The constant twists make it impossible to put down. This story grabbed my interest on page one, and never let go.

Summary: Too many characters, too soon
Review: I have almost all of Mary Higgins Clark's books but this one has way too many characters to make for a relaxing read. It was "work" just trying to keep remembering who's who. The story, however, was interesting and enjoyable.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: My wife and I both like MHC, but I'm getting a little tired of the billion characters in each book and the really slow starts associated with her novels. I felt like some of the characters weren't needed and her spiritual plunge wasn't quite the hook she hoped it would be. Overall, I'd say it was OK, but not her best. For real suspense and a scary spiritual plunge try new author Christine Hilger's book A Force of Habit. It grabs you from page one and has one heck of a surprise ending.

Summary: Very slow confusing start....several loose ends
Review: I started to read this book, put it down, and started again a few weeks later since I knew I liked the author even if I couldn't get into the book. I actually had to go back and take notes of the beginning chapters to keep everyone straight... I kept saying to myself who is this doctor character and why is he in this book anyway...? It was a real struggle to get through the first 1/3 of the book, but then picked up. At the end there were way too many loose ends. What happened to the guy whose mother sold the property? Was a reason given for why the villan's partner was his or her partner? Was Peter really in an accident, or was it made up? By no means was this Mary Higgins Clark's best book

Summary: Before I Say Good-Bye
Review: Nell MacDermott has been asked to run for her grandfather's congressional seat, but her husband Adam objects. They quarrel, and Adam leaves for a business meeting aboard his boat. When there is an explosion on the boat, with everyone presumed dead, Nell is wracked with guilt. She is torn between her dead husband's wishes and her grandfather's insistence that she participate in the campaign. Her grandfather raised her after the untimely death of her parents, so she feels she owes him a lot. Nell and her Aunt Gert both possess some psychic abilities, so she is not totally surprised when her Aunt Gert's friend, Bonnie, says that Adam has contacted her and wants to communicate with Nell. Added to this, it seems that Adam may have been participating in illegal activities connected with his architecture business. These disparate plot threads are never completely woven into a satisfying whole and this is not Clark's best book, but it is basically a good read.

Summary: Murder Mystery with Psychic undertones...
Review: BEFORE I SAY GOODBYE is the story of Nell MacDermott's search for answers to her husband Adam Cauliff's disappearance and possible death. He and several others are thought dead when a boat they are on explodes. As Nell investigates the accident, she learns that this may not be an accident and that someone wanted someone on that boat dead. Through the help of a proclaimed psychic, she searches for the answers and finds out things about her husband that she never knew about. I enjoyed reading this book. Mary Clark Higgins is one of my favorites, and she always seems to put together a good mystery.

Review: If you like MHC's other books, you'll probably like this one. It's neither her worst or her best but somewhere in the middle.
