Rating: Summary: Elle Woods rocks! Review: Nobody in the world could have dreamed that Elle Woods would be going to Stanford Law School. Come on! She's Miss June on the school calendar, homecoming queen, and big glamor girl Barbie. However when her long time boyfriend Warner breaks up with her because he needs a girlfriend that is more "serious" and can help him become president Elle decides she is going to prove herself very serious and follows Warner to law school. However from the first day Elle can tell Law School isn't really the place for a blonde. Plus she finds out that this totally unstylish, super serious looking Sarah is now engaged to Warner. However when things finally settle down Elle begins to find that law school isn't so bad. When she takes on the job as summer intern for Christoper Miles she finds that she is beginning to forget Warner. Now her new focus in life is this case about 23 year old Brooke Vandemark who is accused of murdering her 73 year old husband Heyworth Vandemark. It seems the only witness of the crime is Heyworth's 24 year old daughter Chutney. In the end Elle comes through with a trick any Cosmo girl would know to solve the case!I absoulety love this book!! Even though I aint blonde it was still very funny for me! I have seen the movie too and I just have to say I love them both.
Rating: Summary: Just plain not as good as the movie Review: Okay, so I'm not even a fan of this genre of movie or book, but hey, I did like the Reese Witherspoon movie. Fluffy, yes, but still entertaining, and so I figured I'd read the book it was based on. Well, there are few points to the book not in the movie. However, the characters, all of them, seem much shallower than they seemed in the movie. Not so much shallow in the author's portrayals, but more just shallow people with some intelligence, but little emotional depth to their characters. As a book that appeals to younger women, I sure would have liked to have seen more awareness of values.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: Sure, some people might look at the cover of the book, or see the comercials for the movie, and think, "Wow, is this going to be flaky", but there are some GREAT messages in this book. You have like Clueless (my all time favorite movie) to adore this book. It is one of those books where when you finish it you want to say "you go girl" (a statement I rarely ever use). I think that every girl should read this, because it is just absolutely marvelous.
Rating: Summary: This is not Reese's Elle! Review: The book (which precedes the movie) depicts an Elle who is not as bright and sunny as Reese Witherspoon's interpretation, but it is still a good read. Actually, I appreciated that this Elle, who follows Warner Huntington III to Stanford instead of Harvard, and starts to examine how superficial she was in her sorority princess mode at University of Southern California, especially when her best friends Margot and Serena look at her like she is a leper for pursuing the "alternative lifestyle" of law school. This Elle is far more calculating and dependent on her blonde hair and big chest to get what she wants. Her self-confidence is shattered when she realizes she is NOT popular in law school, after a lifetime of being the MOST popular. She is kicked out of the dorms for keeping Underdog (Bruiser in the film). An she has more heated run-ins with Sarah, Warner's fiancee (Vivian in the film.) Elle also manages to make friends with a fellow female law student (her manicurist does not have as large a part as played by Jennifer Coolidge in the movie.) The murder case against Brooke Vandermark is also not as straightforward and cheerful as in the movie (if a murder case can be cheerful.) Brooke's alibi is deeper than hiding secret surgery, and it faces Elle with client confidentiality. Elle actually has to start learning the law. It's a book with bite, but you will still enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Almost........ Review: The first thing that one must say when reviewing Legally Blond is that the screenwriter(s) for the movie are more talented the Ms Brown. I liked the book on some levels. The plot kept me interested but the writing was not exactly wonderful. At the first page I realized this and wondered if it would be the same the whole way through. It was. The only way to describe the writing is as slightly childish. Even though parts of it were good I could not recommend it. (To all those reading this who loved the book sorry. I always get really angry when someone bashes a book I loved).

Rating: Summary: smile Review: this is a fun and witty book! elle woods, head of her delta gamma sorotity has it all. well, until she looses it all... elle goes out on a date with her boyfriend, Warner Huntington the third, expecting a proposal...but what she gets is a break up. this story is about elles chase after warner to stanford law...well thats until she realises she has real lawyer potential. overall, this is a great read and i think everyone that likes spunk should read it!
Rating: Summary: Good, but the movie is better Review: This is one of the rare cases where the movie is better than the book. The author states that the book is based on her experiences at Stanford law, but as a recent law school grad, I find the book unbelievable at some points. For example, Elle takes all of her classes pass/fail. As far as I know, the American Bar Association doesn't allow first year classes to be taken pass/fail. And as helpful as outlines are, they are no substitute for class attendance (which is required in law school, or you fail automatically) and studying! The movie portrays Elle as a smart girl who works hard to get what she wants, the book portrays her as more of a spoiled brat who gets lucky.... I much prefer the former! Movie Elle wants to help everyone, book Elle only wants to help herself and other blondes. If you have seen the movie, you don't need to read the book, the movie is better.
