Rating: Summary: Not the Masterpiece of Suspense Others Claim it is. Review: With all due respect to those who thought this was brilliant fiction and a masterpiece of suspense, it's just an OK read, plain and simple. This was my first Erica Spindler and her work seems OK, I'll read her again. She writes a decent story. What she does not manage to do is to create characters that are in any way endearing. Your response to them borders on indifference and so it's hard to be really concerned about how the story turns out. I actually put this so-called un-put-downable, page-turner down several times and did not pick it back up for several days. This is where Spindler should take a page out of Nora Roberts' book. Roberts is a master at creating engaging characters and setting up scenarios that keep you turning the pages. What she's no good at is mystery and suspense and that's where Spindler could give her a few pointers. I have a proposition...combine the strengths of these two writers and come up with a real masterpiece of drama, mystery and suspense filled with engaging characters that love them or hate them we never grow bored of them. Bottomline: Well... if you have nothing else to do, it's a way to pass the time.
