Summary: A VERY FAST PACED THRILLER!
Review: Kate and Richard Ryan have been married for ten years, childless due to Richard's sterility, they decide to adopt. When Emma is born, Kate's dream has come true, but soon her dream becomes a nightmare. Richard begins to act jealous towards Emma. Things begin to turn up missing in her home. An old flame, successful writer Luke Dallas, causes her to doubt her marriage. And Richard's new sexy assistant, Julianna, causes her to doubt Richard. Soon the nightmare becomes a gruesome reality. One of her employees is murdered. Kate finds Richard having an affair with Julianna. Barely a day later, Richard is found dead, murdered. Kate discovers that Julianna is also Emma's biological mother whose past has come to haunt her in the form of a renegade goverment assasin named John Powers, not only Emma's father, but a man determined to kill them all. Kate turns to Luke for help. Luke, who is still in love with Kate, and who has contacts from Powers's world, decides to help her by stopping Powers. Can they survive against a professional madman? CAUSE FOR ALARM takes us from a world that is common and ordinary to us into a world full of deadly reality, a world we pretend not to know exits. This book is well written, constantly keeping the reader on alert. Though I personally would have liked more insight into Luke and Kate's renewed relationship, I enjoyed this book immensely. I recommend it.

Summary: A chilling tale....
Review: Kate Ryan has it all, a husband that she adores, a business that is thriving, and her art which she loves. The only thing that is missing from her picture perfect life is a baby. When her and her husband, Richard, learn that he is sterile, Kate decides to move on and make the best of their life with no baby in the picture. After all, she believes that it's better knowing that it's not possible than hoping each month that she'll end up pregnant. Then her husband surprises her with their enrollment in the local adoption agency which stuns and makes her happier than she thought she would be. Finally her life will be complete.

Richard Ryan has always gotten whatever he desired in life. When he wanted Kate, he got her. No matter how many times he strayed in college, he always was able to win her back. When he realized that he would lose her if he kept breaking up with her and coming back, he made a commitment to her. He's always loved Kate and he never believed that the reason he wanted her was because his best friend was in love with her too. When he learns that he is sterile, he feels like less than a man and is more than happy to consider adopting. However, that is before his life is taken over by a six pound, drooling, crying bundle of baby. Suddenly he feels cast aside from his own wife and he turns to someone that makes him feel young again.

Julianna Starr fell in love with Richard and Kate when she saw their profile through the adoption agency. When she reads what Richard wrote, she is certain that they are soulmates and will do anything to prove that to him. She knows it's not going to be easy, after all, Richard loves Kate. So she starts stalking Kate. Following her at a distance, Julianna turns herself into a replica of Kate, following her gestures, her walk, her way of dressing, even her makeup. Then she finds a way to instigate herself in to Richard's life. She thinks it's only fair that since she gave Kate her baby, Kate will give Julianna her husband. She didn't count on the manevolent force that would follow her to the ends of the earth to purify her and bring out the very innocence that he was drawn to when he first saw her as a child.

Luke Dallas has loved Kate since their days at Tulane. When he finally thought he had her, Richard came tearing back in the scene and took her away again. He's tried to kid himself all these years that it hasn't effected him, but he knows different. Kate is the only woman that he will ever love and the only woman he can never have. When she comes to him for help with her daughter, Luke doesn't have the heart to turn her away. He's waited for her for ten years and he will wait for her for ten more.

John Powers in stalking Kate, Richard, Julianna, and Luke. All the people that are now apart of his little girl's life will pay. Julianna has been his 'special' girl since she was eleven years old and no one will ever take her away from him. So one by one he starts eliminating the very people that bring out the wicked part of her. He believes that there is still that innocence that touched a part of him that he thought was long dead.

Cause for Alarm was a surprise for me. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was, with as many conflicts between all the characters. John sickened me with his unnatural feelings for Julianna. Richard made me so angry with what he did though I was sad how he came to his ending. I really wish that he would have been able to lose Kate at the end while he was still alive to see it. If you like the easy going romances, this book would not be for you!

Summary: A Suprising Read
Review: Okay, picked the book up at [local store] for dirt cheap thinking maybe I might read this..possibly sounds interesting. Holy cow, it was beyond interesting! The characters that Erica Spindler create in her story are very complex and each are nothing alike. You quickly flip the pages wanting to find out more about the very screwed up lives of these characters while being able to truly picture what they are doing. Spindler gives thorough details to help the reader picture these characters and better relate to them. The twist and turns, some suprising and others predictable, also help the reader in becoming their own detective in figuring out just what is happening to these people and who might not live to see the end of the book. I would highly recommend and say....be ready to have some sleepless nights since you just can't put the book down!

Summary: Fantastic!!
Review: Once Again Erica captivated my attention with her story line. She has such a way of weaving the characters lives together. I have read everything Erica has ever written. I feel she writes better and better with every book. I can hardly wait for what's next!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A winner!
Review: Readers have no CAUSE FOR ALARM when Erica Spindler writes a romantic suspense because the story line is guaranteed to be filled with non-stop action that keeps the audience attention throughout the novel. The complex characters and their relationships are well designed, especially the thin line between insanely obsessive and what passes for normalcy in a CIA operative. Fans of romantic suspense with a major emphasis on the Suspense need to peruse Ms. Spindler's terrific twisted tales like FORBIDDEN FRUIT and SHOCKING PINK, etc.

Summary: Nothing special.
Review: Spindler is a good writer, but there are many stereotypes and cliches in this story. There's the spoiled poor little rich girl trying to make it in the bluecollar world, a sweet, almost saintly poor woman who married into money, and a one dimensional nutcase stalking everybody. And the names like Julianna Starr, John Powers, and Luke Dallas made me laugh. I thought names like that appeared only on daytime dramas! There were a couple of twists and turns here and there, but the book was too predictable for my taste. Not a bad book, but nothing special.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Thoroughly suspenseful and intriguing
Review: This author is a must for all mystery readers. Everytime I read one of Ms. Spindler's books, I feel it is her best. After reading "Cause for Alarm", I know this is her best so far. I couldn't put this book down until John got what was coming to him. What a wonderful book! I can't wait until her next novel.

Summary: This was not as good as her usual books
Review: This book was good, but it wasn't as thrilling as the others that she writes. I was disappointed with this one and the ending on this one.

The context of the book was good, but the ending wasn't all that great.

I recommend all of her other books before this one.
