Rating: Summary: Wonderful dipction of possiblities for Mayan buffs Review: I could not put this book down I read through it in three days. The story line has mass appeal for those who have ever pondered the seven wonders of the world, or feel a "special" connection to any of them, this is the book for you. If you are of a skeptic with a more scientific approach this book will still lure you in. As the main characters blur the lines between psychiatrist and patient. Delving you deeper into the mind of a seemingly delusional madman. There is also enough raw action to keep you ever turning each page. I sit on the edge of my seat awaiting the sequel!!! Well Done Steve Alten.
Rating: Summary: Need to see the movie now!! Review: Fantastic!! juxtaposition of Mayan lore and present & future sci-fi. Next grand production, after "Lord of the Rings", i hope.
Rating: Summary: Riveting Review: While shopping on Christmas Eve I ran into Steve Alten doing a book signing in Palm Beach Gardens FL. I spoke with him and decided to buy Domain and am definitely glad I did. It is a riveting book which held my attention from cover to cover and wanting more. Having visited many of the places discussed in the book it gave an interesting twist to the plot for me. This book shows that he is a great writer and I've already ordered his other books to read. I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in suspense. Excellent.
Rating: Summary: Almost there Review: Domain is a fascinating story woven around some of the world's most interesting places. There's just enough real information to keep the pages turning, and the novels construction, through'scene changes', keeps the story moving forward. My only problem is with the characters themselves. Reminds me, to some extent, of a Michael Crichton book in that I can envision the movie casting as I'm reading. Example: Dominique -- the beautiful young Mayan psychiatrist -- is simply too much an archetype and not enough of a person. Same goes for Michael - the tortured and misunderstood scientist. Everyone seems to represent a broad stereotype rather than a viable, full-blooded human being. Taht's fine in terms of movie casting, but a little less satisfying for a book. But the science ultimately overcomes that. The 'what if' that melds all the mythes into a single conclusion is truly rivetting and well-presented. The book is definitely worth reading - for fun and entertainment. Don't mistake it for literature, tho.
Rating: Summary: Domain!! Review: Cleary one of the best books i ever wrote. It totally fits into the present time. It's fast, it's dramatic. It's like watching a great blockbuster movie. Believe me that man can write!!!
Rating: Summary: Super Review: I used to hate reading but now I love it, ever since the age of 10 yrs. old I have been an avid reader. Reading everything I could get my hands on. I have never heard of Steve Alten before I read his book, "Domain", I rated this book 4 stars because I don't think I have ever read the best book there ever is, but as someone who has read thousands of books I would say that "Domain" is one of my very most favorites, The study he put into the work is unbeleivable, of the mayan history and culture. He also added good visual aids, but the thing that got to me most is the obvious care he put into this book, with all the information of the mayan culture, he made this book very believable. This book is a must for people who love to read, I would also recommend all of Mr. Alten's other books, which I have acquired as soon as I had read "Domain".
Rating: Summary: Steve Alten - Master of the Page-Turner Review: The amazing writing of Steve Alten first grabbed me with MEG, one of those books you just can't put down. Beginner's luck? No way! THE TRENCH was even better, and DOMAIN is by far Steve's best work yet. He weaves a story filled with rich, detailed characters; historical fact and real locales; and a plot so real it's frightening! Steve Alten is a talented author with great storytelling skills. He appreciates his fans and each novel is a gift to his readers. Can't wait for the DOMAIN sequel, and hopefully a big-screen movie version soon! Keep up the great work! -Cal K.
Rating: Summary: domain Review: I loved this book, its everything I believe in and want to learn more about. I can't wait for the next installment, RESURRECTION. Couldn't put the book down! Loved the ending, most endings leave you,,,hanging, anticlimatic, but not this book.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Review: Very interesting book that make You want to pray.
Rating: Summary: Domain is another Hit, for Steve Alten... Review: If you enjoy Sc-Fi, with a touch of reality, then DOMAIN is for you. After reading MEG, and The TRENCH, I could not wait to pick up Steve Alten's next Novel. The character's in DOMAIN, have matured greatly from Steve's first two novels. A little more in depth, in the characters lives. I could not put DOMAIN down at all... But did, I had to sleep sometime... I recommend picking up a copy immediately. I guarentee, you will not be disappointed. It would make a great BIG SCREEN MOVIE... Thank You Again, STEVE
