Summary: Office politics, an injury, day care issues....
Review: ...and a host of other problems all come together to give the reader a good feel for the complicated and haphazard behind-the-scenes activities that sometimes combine to make our legal system work in a less-than-perfect manner. Not to worry, though - our (usually) fearless protagonists come together to solve a complicated case and we also get a taste of less-than-satisfying, but highly pragmatic philosophy from the lawyers involved (how can they defend the obviously guilty, is this jail time actually going to solve anything for this defendant, etc.)

The characters and the cases are interesting. Well-written.

Summary: Reader Denied
Review: After a Turkish Diplomat is killed in the open, NYPD officers think it's an open and shut case. DA Butch Karp thinks differently and sets out to find out the truth.

This book with its many twists and turns kept you on your toes. However, the narrator Anthony Heald, didn't. He read this book like it was a race. In addition, the sound quality was really bad. You could hear every breath the Mr. Heald took. This book really held great potential. It was a good plot and Mr. Tanenbaum is probably a very good author. I chose the audio book for this title and do to circumstances beyond his control Mr. Tanenbaum didn't come off in a good light with me.

This was the first book I have had by Mr. Tanenbaum and it probably wasn't as bad as my rating indicates. I based that on the narrator and quality of the recording. I would probably give the actual book 3 stars, it was average but not above average.

If you like hard core detective stories, I would recommend this book. However; I must warn you, the language in it is rather colorful at times. If you are easily offended by vulgar language, then this isn't a book for you.

Summary: JUSTICE NOT SERVED
Review: Butch is dealing with his knee injury which requires surgery and makes him almost immobile. Marlene is still a party girl and forgets her wifely, motherly and even job duties when ever convenient for her. A Turkish diplomat is gunned down on a bright Sunday morning and everything points to one suspect. After
his arrest Butch still has questions and oversees the case. Marlene decides to work on a case where a woman's body is found with teeth marks. Somehow Tannebaum works these cases around each other until they make one solid case. The cases each could of stood on their own merits and didn't need to be manipulate into one case. This made the book to unrealistic and poorly written. It was in need of editing and slashing of some characters that weigh the book down. Butch is a hardworking attorney who must deal with headaches from his superiors and oversee a large department of attorneys who are trying to put the bad guys in jail. Marlene just skips through the story neglecting her marriage, pawning her child off on others and shows up for work when she can fit into her social calendar. Tannerbaum needs to write a divorce into this series and return to the plots of the first 3 novels. Ever since Marlene became a player in the plot the books have gone from bad to worse.

Summary: Butch Karp solves a murder and art fraud.
Review: This was a real page-turning crime novel. Assistant District Attorney Butch Karp prosecutes an accused murderer after having surgery on his knee. His wife Marlene solves a case of art fraud. Their child Lucy is saved from danger by detective Harry Bello. Another great novel in the Karp series!
