Rating: Summary: Gripping to say the least. Review: Once I picked up this book it was impossible to put down. The characters become so real. Patterson makes the characters members of the family. You can't help but feel the pain of the child. The emotions run deep. He makes you hate one person while love another. The research done to make this book so realistic is astonishing. It was truely an education. I can't wait to read more of his work.

Rating: Summary: Enough twists and turns to keep you interested and wondering Review: Patterson did I great job on making you wonder who was really at fault, and leaving anyone open to be guilty. I absolutely loved the book and would highly recommend it to people who love to question who the real killer is. Chris Paget is the good guy that you don't want to be guilty but are suspicious of throughout the novel. Patterson did an excellent job.
Rating: Summary: This is a book that is hard to put down. Review: Richard Patterson describes the trial in this story in complete detail, but keeps it interesting. His knowledge of this topic is evident in this story. He did very good research in writing this story. The plot is very interesting and grabs your attention in the first chapter. He continues to hold your attention until the very last sentence. It was interesting and well-written, and now I am searching for more books by Richard North Patterson.
Rating: Summary: LEGAL THRILLER by rnp Review: RNPATTERSON WRITES BOOKS YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO PUT DOWN. THE CHARACTERS ARE WELL DEVELOPED AND I FOUND MYSELF HATING RICKY BUT LOVING THE OTHERS, EXCEPT CHRIS. I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT HE WAS UP TO BECAUSE HE WAS KEEPING SOMETHING TO HIMSELF AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO WITH HIM. EVEN WHEN HE WAS ON TRIAL FOR KILLING A SOCIOPATH I ALONG WIH HIS LAWYER DIDN'T FEEL HE WAS REALLY NOT GUILTY. PATTESON HAS THE KNACK OF KEEPING YOU INTERESTED IN ALL THE ACTION, DETAILS, AND HOW A GOOD DEFENSE LAWYER HAS TO THINK AHEAD AND WEAVE THE LOOSE ENDS INTO A SOLID LEGAL DEFENSE FOR HER CLIENT. I THINK SHE'S BETTER THAN GRISHAM'S LAWYERS. AT TIMES I LOST PATIENCE WITH TERRI WHO WAS CONFUSED AS TO WHAT SHE SHOULD DO TO PROTECT HER FIVE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS ALSO CONFUSED RE HER PARENTS' LOVE FOR HER. THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT READ THAT KEPT ME GUESSING RIGHT UP TO THE UNEXPECTED ENDING. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ANY OF PATTERSON' BOOKS, GET STARTED. THIS IS HIS 6th NOVEL SO START BACK BEFORE THIS 1994 BOOK.
Rating: Summary: Great story, grabbed by the characters Review: story is a page turner, with twists and turns.was not able to figure out murderer until very end of book.great endin
Rating: Summary: This is an excellent book! Review: The book is a brilliant example of what you might call
"kitchen story" -- it allows you to look at things from
inside. You feel like you've become a lawyer, all of a
sudden, and have to decide other people's fates...
Caroline Masters, whom we remember from "Degree
of Guilt" and who reappears here almost on the other
side of the barricade, is really great and makes me wish
I had known her in real life!
Rating: Summary: Moral Outrage - But Great Read Review: The subject of EYES OF A CHILD is morally outrageous -- child sexual abuse. But equally outrageous is the decision by Theresa Peralta to go on holiday with her new lover and leave her child -- for whom she supposedly has great concern -- with her estranged husband. Patterson got this one wrong: as a mother I simply can't imagine any mother choosing her own fleeting happiness over the welfare of her child in the midst of a heated custody fight. Certainly not where the reader is supposed to regard the mother with such sympathy. The book is nonetheless a great read, although I guessed the murderer correctly in the first chapter. Still, an enjoyable, quick diversion -- I just hope Patterson's readers see the flaws in ALL the characters, not just those he wants you to hate.
Rating: Summary: I just don't get it Review: There is a lot in this book that's illogical. The characters' actions, the dialogue. Most of the time I don't know what's going on in the dialogue. I basically just had to skim over sections I just couldn't understand. Maybe North's style is just too different from my concept of good writing. So much of it didn't prgress the story line. I had to give up midway; it just didn't hook me. If I'd bought this book instead of getting it at the library, I would have been very angry.
Rating: Summary: My best read in years Review: This book is great, the whole Christopher Paget series is one of the best i have ever read. Richard North Patterson style of dialogue and plot keep the story on the move and I found it hard to put the book down. I reccomend this series to anyone who loves intrigue and a good story.
