Rating: Summary: The Best of the Best Review: If there's a book that must be read, it's got to be Assumed Identity. There's never been a book like it! I urge those of you out there who have not read this book to get off your couches and run to your nearest library or bookstore while you can. Books this good won't last forever!
Rating: Summary: This review refers to the audio cassette version. Review: It was tough trying to figure out what this story was really all about. Brendan Buchanan has so many different aliases it was difficult to decide who he was at any one time in the story. Ed Asner does the reading, and I wasn't thrilled with his voice, it sounded very throaty and clogged. Our protagonist's aliases are discovered at a cafe in Cancun Mexico, and at that point he remains in mortal danger for the rest of the story, never sure who to trust, even the members of the operations unit he works for. Despite lots of action and plot twists, what I think the story really was about goes deeper: Brendan Buchanan must unmask his own layers upon layers of aliases to discover who he really is, and in doing so, he falls in love, and must admit to himself he is, after all, just one person.
Rating: Summary: A VERY fun read! Review: My favorite thing about this book is how Morrell describes how professional his charecter is. I love how he describes how the charecter is reacting, thinking, and the quick decisions he sometimes has to make to make sure he gives the correct info. on his current assumed identity. I am only 16, and Morrell has inspired me to be a writer, and unfortunaly I lack the ability to experience what a real professional would do in these types of situations. But Morrell obviously knows how professionals must react-and he does not hold back any of that information! Thanks to that book, I have developed more plots and scenes for the book I am attempting to write! So I do reccommend purcahsing this book! Blake Boyd
Rating: Summary: Good, but not his best Review: Not a total waste of time, but he has written better books. The action is forced, the characters are under-developed, and the conclusion is totally absurd. Stick with "Brotherhood of the Rose" or "Fraternity of the Stone."
Rating: Summary: Why a love affair? Review: The book, which is really a good old page-turner, has a lot of action. In my opinion Morrell thinks his readers are not intelligent because he explains the acts of Buchanan - the leading character of the story - too much. You don't have to explain me that you're using a damper on your gun to avoid bystanders hearing your shots. On top of it all Buchanan sleeps with a woman. This fact is totally useless for the plot. Does it really attracts readers of this genre that the action hero conqueres a woman as well? Not this reader.
Rating: Summary: Nothing to worry about! Review: The intelligence community has nothing to worry about here. David Morrell isn't even close to revealing their secrets. Although there were many twists in the story line (some without resolution), the feats that Brenden Buchannon pulls off are absolutely rediculous. Shot, stabbed, concussion, broken ribs, traveling all over North and Central America and playing an ancient ball game. Come on. Not to mention, a seasoned operative not detecting a reporter tailing him from Cancun to Media to Florida. Not impressed. Won't be reading him again.

Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: The Kirkus editorial is worng, this is a great book about a man that has many assumed identities. I like these kinds of books, find them hard to find, and so I might be biased in favor of any that I can find in fiction.
Rating: Summary: Terrific!!! Review: The main character was incredibly intricate, but yet very human. The action scenes were very well written
Rating: Summary: Outstanding thriller, a riveting climatic performance! Review: This book above all books delivers. The best description of this profound novel is how fast-paced it is. Excellent story-telling from beginning to end. This ranks in the tops. I have never read a novel that has been this continually climatic. Read it and see for yourself.
