Rating: Summary: Has this series marinated too long? Review: Although I have enjoyed the other books in this series, I was not as captivated by this one. The Quilliam sisters are in the process of buying back their beloved Inn at Hemlock Falls which they had sold to a local businesswoman, Marge Schmidt. They are being helped (inexplicably) by a wealthy Finn named Horvath who has fallen in love with American fast food. He wants it served at the Inn, but of course this offends Meg Quilliam who is renowned for her gourmet fare. At this point a group of writers from a cartoon show decides (again, inexplicably) that they will have a working vacation at the Inn so that they can revamp their show. Somehow they decide to make it a satire on all things Finnish, which offends Horvath and endangers his business deal with the Quilliams. Dead bodies predictably begin to appear and the Quilliams do their usual sleuthing. The plot is tied together in a rather fast and loose fashion at the end and the Quilliams are left with the usual questions about their love life? Does Quill love Myles or John? Or neither? Will Meg marry Andy and move to New York or commute or not marry or...... you get the idea!

Rating: Summary: Likeable cozy Review: Hemlock Falls, New York is known for the Hemlock Inn, a four star gourmet restaurant thanks largely to owner and chef Meg Quilliams. Famous artist Sarah "Quill" Quilliams is Meg's sister and business partner who handles the financial end of things. With the backing of the Finnish government, the siblings are on the verge of buying back the restaurant they sold. However, one point remains disputed. Finnish representative Horvath wants the restaurant to serve fast food while Meg refuses.Four customers, a producer and three screenwriters arrive from Hollywood hoping to use the history including some tragedies of the inn to get some creative ideas that will boost the ratings of The Sneezer Show, a cartoon starring a Finn. However, someone kills the producer and one of the writers. Meg and Quill, who have solved eight previous homicides, begin to investigate before the Inn earns a different reputation. MARINDADE FOR MURDER is an excellent example of the humorous form of the female amateur sleuth tale at its most entertaining. The two siblings leap from one problem to another, as they are magnets for trouble. Still, the quirky Quilliams sisters and their Inn are five-star characters who turn a very good mystery into a great investigation. Claudia Bishop's culinary who-done-it is another treat in a tasty series. Harriet Klausner
