Rating: Summary: Greeeeaaat! Review: I was 13 when I read this book, and I thought it would be impossible to get through the 570 plus pages. But I finished it in no time! This is about as exiting as you can get. While not always really realistic, it is still very good. Anyway, it is a fiction book.
Rating: Summary: It kept me turning the pages Review: I don't quite understand why this book received some low scores. I mean the book is FICTION. It suppose to be fun and a little wild and crazy. If it were just like real life why read it? Cussler's books are enjoyable and a nice easy read. I always recommend them and have yet to talk to someone who doesn't like them!
Rating: Summary: It was the most exciting book I have ever read. Review: Inca Gold is probably the best book I ever read. I am a fan of Indiana Jones type quests. This book is the mother of all treasure hunts with tons of action and suspense to keep you going. Read this book and you will have to read them all, It's that good!

Rating: Summary: Is Cussler reviewing his own book? Review: There is a certain similarity to a few of the reviews here that make me wonder if Cussler is perhaps 'salting' the legitimate reviews with his more favorable ones. One person claims to have met him in his home and states that he is Dirk Pitt personified (a little hero worship, perhaps?). If that is true, how does he stay out of the news? This book is bad, no matter how you classify it. There MUST be a level of believability for a book to escape the trap that too many movies fall into, ie, the hero has extremely limited resources (one bullet perhaps), yet overcomes incalculable odds to save the day (Rambo is a good example). One of the failings of american society is the belief that anything can be overcome by hitting harder, shooting faster, believing that God is 'on our side', and the outlandish belief that americans are automatically smarter than any foreign opposition. I assume that all of his books carry out this same formula and he will keep writing them as long as people buy them. Too bad...
Rating: Summary: Those who can't write become critics Review: As an author of three (and almost four) books for young adults, I know that the main purpose of action novels is to lose oneself in adventure for a few hours. There are comments from readers who are looking for hidden messages on metric measurement conversions, and the supposed stereotyping of gender and cultures. It illustrates a need for those intellectuals to get a life. Inca Gold takes the reader on a roller coaster ride from a ghastly sacrificial pit, to a deep-in-the earth flume ride through an underground river. All this, while ducking a Jackal-type character, who is trying to kill Dirk Pitt and his side-kick Al. Clive, like any other best-selling author, has written novels that are better than some of his others, but all address the main purpose of entertaining. I have met him at his home, and he is a genuine model for Dirk Pitt. My biggest concern is that he will someday have to retire and make a decision on how Dirk can fade away without angering his many fans.
Rating: Summary: Juvenile writing style Review: I kept looking for the illustrations to go along with the prose in this Hardy Boy's style children's adventure book. Based on some of the comments in these reviews, his audience is obviously the same audience that reads and enjoys comic book drama. Luckily I did not pay too much for it. Terrible book!
Rating: Summary: Excellent and Exciting Review: Once again, Cussler has done it. I've been reading Cussler's books for a while now. The first being "Raise The Titanic" and most recently Shockwave. Cussler's style is one of the best, and Inca Gold is no disappointment. A throughly great read, and a worthy adventure for Dirk Pitt.
Rating: Summary: Within 3 centimeters (1 inch) of strangling Cussler Review: I see no other mention of it in the other reviews, but CC's constant hammering at the reader that the US doesn't conform to the world's measurement standard really got on my nerves. With every (and he made sure there were more than were needed) mention of measurement in centimeters, meters and kilometers, he made sure that there was a parenthesized 'US' measurement as well. This could have been more effectively done the first couple of times measurements were a requirement and then simply give the measurement in whatever discipline he wants to, or have an appendix with the conversions at the back of the book. Also, running into this character 'Clive Cussler' cooking hamburgers in the desert.. (what's that all about)?!? I've read this book and 'Sahara' (a few years ago - long enough to forget his style), but I think I'm done with him now...
Rating: Summary: Great action book Review: I am only 14 years old and im on my 4th CC novel. TREASURE, DEEP SIX were great but not as good as SAHARA. INCA GOLG keeps right up with SAHARA. It is fast paced excitement with edge of your seat reading. The author has a deep knowledge of everything he writes. A must read.
