Summary: A Great Book for imaginative minds both young and old
Review: This is the most unique children's book I have ever seen. I am fascinated by the creativity and imagination that this book is able to bring out in young students. The book is amazing in its simplicity. You get a picture and a caption. Each page can be used as a story starter, and children will love the opportunity to create a story that goes with each picture. The results are amazing. If you are a teacher, your students will love this book, no matter what age they are.

Summary: Book has stuck in student's mind for ten years
Review: When I was in the 6th grade, the best teacher I ever had used this book as a creative writing tool. The stories that this book inspired me and my classmates to write, greatly helped in are collective developement as writers. It has been so vivdly etched in my memory, that I recently went to the library to search for this book. I felt ridiculous searching through the children's section for this book, but when I finally found it, my face lit-up with the memories it awoke.

Summary: A Great Book To Get The Brain Working
Review: When Van Allsburg wrote The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, he wrote a book that would cause millions of Americans to realize that they had an imagination. An imagination that they never thought that they had until one day when they glanced at the pictures in The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, and their brains, by surprise, started to imagine stories that went along with the pictures. The first time I heard of this book was by my Creative Writing teacher and I thought that it was very interesting. She gave us a picture and we were to write a story just by using our imaginations. I think that this book is great because you can write stories for the pictures now and again in the future when you are older and see how much your views on life and your outlook on the world around you have changed. It is a bonus for all those writers out there who just seem to have a hard time starting a story becausing the pictures give you a place to start. This book will keep your brain awake and thinking of all the possibilities that one little picture can hold.
