Rating: Summary: very entertaining Review: I really enjoyed this book. Kay Hooper is a very good writer. I suggest that anyone who wants a suspense to read this.
Rating: Summary: It's Not A Mystery If There Are No Clues Review: I've enjoyed Ms. Hooper's books, and am tempted to go back and read a few of the earlier ones (starting with the one that introduced Noah Bishop). However, this book was rather tepid. I didn't particularly sympathize with Nell, the heroine. You'd think after running away and finding the fortitude to put herself through school and become an FBI agent that she'd have found it within herself to contact Max, our hero, at some point within the preceding twelve years. I liked Max, and thought he'd been wronged, but he knew Nell was the love of his life, more's the pity, and he hung in there until she saw it, too. She kept telling herself she couldn't tell him ... what? When her big problem with actually telling him the truth is finally explained, it was in no way sufficient to explain or justify her behavior, in my mind. And there were absolutely no clues to follow which could lead you to the murderer. None. There were a couple of false trails, but NO clues. You only find out at the end, when the heroine is (literally) slapped in the face with it. So, in the end, I don't really recommend this book. I'm sure others will enjoy it, but I thought it was very weak.
Rating: Summary: a must read Review: Is Kay Hooper really an expert on what makes a psychic and how approaching the paranormal works. There is a lot of detailed explanation in Whisper of Evil that takes away from the action of the book and keeps it from being an intense page turner. HOWEVER, the characters are interesting, the book is well written, and the suspense is intriguing; I will go on the the third book in the series. Nell Gallagher, had a intense newly budding relationship with Max Turner when she was seventeen and already plagued by blackouts and psychic visions. Some terrible event took place that she witnessed on the night of her prom, and she ran away leaving Max to hope for her return for twelve (12) years. That's a long time for a guy as strong as Max is, but it's fiction. Nell returns to her hometown of Silence as an undercover FBI agent who is part of the Special Crimes Unit that is made up of psychics and other paranormal "experts." Several men have been murdered; a serial killer is successfully removing upright community citizens who are exposed to have had some terrible secrets. Nell's family and the "Gallagher" curse play an integral part in the suspense and the story gets better as it goes along.

Rating: Summary: Psychic Love Review: Kay Hooper's books are always just the right mix of intrigue and romance. "Whisper of Evil" is a fine addition to her series of books about psychic FBI agents and the killers and love they find along the way. The heroine of this installment, Nell Gallagher, returns home after a 12 year abscence to stop a killer who is taking out townsmen with dark secrets. Her cover for being in town is that she is tying up lose ends after her father has died. She left her home and her true-love Max, the night of her prom 12-years earlier and never contacted anyone from that night, until the day her belated return home. The problem I have with the book is that there are too many threads. Hooper is trying to tell too many stories in the space that she has, and the love story gets short changed. Yes this is a suspense forsenic psychic murder mystery novel, but it is a romance, and I would have liked the romance to play a more central role.
Rating: Summary: A Paranormal Romantic Suspense Review: Kay Hooper's Whisper of EVIL is the second book in the series involving the FBI Special Crimes Unit consisting of agents with psychic abilities. This story revolves around Nell Gallagher, a woman who has had "visions" of things that happened or will happen ever since she was a child. She had run away from the town the night of her high school prom, and now has returned 12 years later under a cover to settle her father's estate - right at the time when several town-people have been murdered, and their sick dark past comes to light during the murder investigations. She teams up with Max Tanner, her high school sweetheart to whom she has some kind of "mind link" even though he has no psychic abilities, and the sexual tension between them builds as the mystery unfolds. What is the link between these deaths, and who is seeking revenge? Hooper keeps you guessing right to the end. I loved the book - it's better than "Touching Evil". Can't wait for the next in the series "Sense of Evil".
Rating: Summary: My only review, ever. Review: Moves faster than your ordinary everyday glacier. But not by much.
Rating: Summary: a must read Review: nell and max are some of my favorite characters.the town of silence is so vividly described-you feel like youre there.i love all of kay hoopers mysteries and this is a great book .
Rating: Summary: Lover Come Back. She Did. Review: Nell Gallagher, haunted by visions at seventeen years of age, fled Silence, Louisiana the night of the high school prom leaving boyfriend Max Turner behind without an explination. Twelve years later she comes back as an FBI agent and part of the Special Crimes Unit to catch a serial killer that has been plaguing the town. Reunited with Max, who has been waiting these many years for an explanation as to why she left, Nell must eventually tell him why she ran away. She also must delve into the secrets of the murder victims and she must deal with her own haunting secrets. This is a four star paranormal thriller that is a little slow getting going, but once you get into it, you can't put it down. Review submitted by Katie Osborne
Rating: Summary: My first Novel by Kay Hooper Review: Of course I never read anything in order and in all fairness to myself this book was given to me to read this summer by a good friend who thought is was good. I must admit that it was a entertaining book. Someone is killing people in Silence and know one knows who the killer is. Nell returns home to settle her fathers estate. It is the first time she has been home in a long while and she does not know what to expect. Max is not thrilled to see her. In fact he would be thrilled to see the backside of her as she heads out of silence. Somehow they both get caught up in the hunt for the killer stalking the people of Silence. This is a paranormal thriller and romance does take a back seat in the storyline. That is not to say that it is lacking either. A good story that has many twists and turns. You won't know who the killer is until the last moment (unless you cheat).
