Summary: Love Most Kay Hooper Books--But Not This One
Review: Ever since I bought Ms. Hooper's first pyschic novel--Stealing Shadows--I have been hooked on this great writer of a brand new type of romantic suspence. I couldn't put down any of the books in the "Shadows" series or the first in the "Evil" series, but Whisper of Evil was a disappointment.

I was so excited when I saw it in the store, but I quickly discovered it was not like the others. While it starts off promising, it soon slows down and barely picks up speed until the last 50 pages.

The romance between Nell and Max is never fully developed. I never really cared if they got together in the end. The dialogue was extrememly stilted, and many times the same statement was made three or four times--sometimes by the same person.

The author made attempts at suspence, but instead of being chilled as in previous books, I was often lost in the plot and wondering way the author wasn't telling me things the characters were obviously doing.

Whisper of Evil does have some good points. The last 50-60 pages were exciting and close to what I am used to from Kay Hooper, and the twist at the end caught me off guard. This is a less graphic book than her earlier ones, but that is actually what adds to the excitement of a Kay Hooper novel.

For anyone considering reading a Kay Hooper novel--start with the "Shadow" series and save this one for a sleepless night.

Summary: SPOOKY
Review: I am a big fan of Kay Hooper, so I was very excited when I found
Whisper of Evil at the bookstore. Suffice to say, it was hard to
to put this book down. Nell and Matt are a wonderful couple to
watch. My only complaint is that I wish their relationship had
been more center stage than it was. Keep them coming, Kay!

Summary: Can you make it to the end? NOT a pageturner!
Review: I am a big fan of thriller and mysteries, but I found Kay Hooper's writing to be the most incompetent I have ever read in this genre. Not only does she not create characters you want to read about, but she makes you not care what happens to them. Hooper's plodding writing style, poor plot development and dull dialogue makes this one a difficult read. I got to about page 246 and did not care enough to make it through the ending. Purely one for the wastebasket. Dullsville. I will add Kay Hooper to my "not to read" list. Live and learn!

Summary: wonderful read!
Review: I don't often give reviews on books I've read. However, I was shocked by some of the reviews I had been seeing about the "Shadows" and "Evil" trilogies. These books were Wonderful! I couldn't put them down and can't wait for more from Ms. Hooper. They are suspensful (keep you guessing at every turn), they are romantic, and if you like paranormal reads they are unique and refreshing in content. If your looking for a plain old mystery then this is not the book for you. But if you like the unbelievable, romantic, suspense that many authors are trying to move toward, this is the best you will find.

Summary: Not her best but better than most out there.
Review: I have read most of Kay Hooper and Kay Robbins books and this is one of her better ones. The plots twist and turn and keep me guessing to the end.
Although the love story did not take center stage, it was just enough to call it a romance novel.
Her writing styles have changed a little bit in this latest book. The scenes switch back and forth that is similar to seeing a movie.
I am not sure if I like this or not but it certainly keep me from putting the book down!
Her best book is still Dream Man.

Summary: Too much of the same
Review: I have really enjoyed some of Kay Hooper's previous books, and perhaps if this were my first I would have enjoyed it more. The problem is that all of Hooper's books are beginning to seem identical. There's no longer any suspence and even the romance is so much formula that its unappealing. For a quick beach read this is acceptable.

Summary: Another great by Kay Hooper
Review: I love Kay Hooper's novels and in this book in the EVIL set, she does not disappoint. This book is decidedly less graphic than touching evil but that does not distract from the book at all. It is still a fast paced read with twists and turns that Kay Hooper is famous for. I definitely recommend this book and can't wait for her next book!!!!

Summary: Super Romantic Suspense!!!
Review: I love Kay Hooper. She is one of my favorite authors. Nell and Matt were great, and it was cool that she brings characters from previous books back. If you like romantic suspense with a touch of the paranormal, then this book is for you!! If you are a Kay Hooper fan, then you will love it. I can't wait for the next one!!!
