Summary: For all of you "Alex Delaware" fans, this doesn't match up.
Review: I have read all of Kellerman's books. This one, is particularly gruesome with no real story behind other than that of "face value". Easy to know who the "Bad Guy" is way before the end of the book-too bad! Send Alex Delaware back in!

Summary: Kellerman is better than this!
Review: I must confess I love Jonathon Kellerman's writing and I love his previous books. Alex Delaware, Milo Sturgis and Daniel Sharavi are such compelling charactors and the books (not including the last few) have always been top notch. But now it almost seems that Kellerman is sacrificing quality for quantity. Too many books in the past two years and none of them have been as good as his previous work. Kellerman is too good for that! If he takes two years to write this next one instead of dashing it off in a couple of months it would be so good! But "Billy Straight," unfortunately, is not a very good read. It's too predictable, boring and the plot is so busy and full of uneccesary charactors and subplots that are never really resolved that we don't even care that they are left hanging. Jonathon Kellerman, I am your biggest fan! I know you can do better! I eagerly await your next book.

Summary: Not his best, but ok.
Review: I have read all of Kellerman's books, and found this one to be slow paced, with an ending that was definatly not a surprise. I didn't hate this book, but I certainly didn't stay up late reading.

Summary: Liked it alot!
Review: Very good reading. Tense, great characters, and plenty of suspense. I like all Kellerman's stuff (especially the Alex Delaware novels) and this was one of the best. A keeper.

Summary: Kellerman at his best
Review: I have read all of Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware novels and was very much looking forward to "Billy Straight." I was a bit surprised that Alex only made a cameo appearance, as the jacket states. I was not disappointed. The book was fantastic. You can't not help really liking Billy. He is one super smart kid. Kellerman's genius shines through.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Kellerman at his gifted best
Review: Having read all Alex Delaware novels I didn't quite know what to expect from Billy Straight. Bottom line? I thought this book was fantastic. The plot is well developed with just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. As I finished this book I was already missing the characters and wanted more . . . that's a sure sign of a good book. For all those who have the need to criticize this book? Ha! Lets see them write anything HALF as good. Kellerman, you're a genius, and thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us through your craft. Your talent is a gift to us all.

Summary: Please bring back Alex.
Review: Just finished this book, and i would like to see Alex Delaware make a return. Petra Connor has made her debut, and also her exit for me, but what happened to Daniel Sharavi ? Jonathan's best book for me is still "the butchers theater". BR.

Summary: Not Kellerman's Best
Review: "Billy Straight is Kellerman's best work yet. An engrossing tale in lean, straightforward prose," says Kirkus Reviews. Twelve-year-old Billy Straight lives in a trailer park with an alcoholic mom and a scumbag biker, Moron, who beats Billy and Mom. Tiring of abuse, Billy runs away to Los Angeles and become a homeless kid, sleeping in a park. One night, a car stops near his hideaway. A man and woman get out and talk for a few minutes. Suddenly, the man starts slashing and stabbing her. Twenty-four wounds. Though Billy can't see a face, but does memorize the license plate, PLYR 1. The car belongs to TV star and celebrity, Cart Ramsey, and the murdered woman is his ex-wife, Lisa. Investigating is Petra Connor, a Los Angeles homicide detective. Through a series of small clues, she discovers that an unknown boy watched the murder, but has no clue where to find him. Lisa's father offers a $25,000 reward for Billy's capture and now all of Los Angeles searches for him. He's in a quandary; fears the police and afraid the killer will find him. Kellerman slips in enough red herrings that I didn't know who the bad guy was until the climatic ending. His writing style is unique; first person from Billy's viewpoint and third person with other characters. I enjoyed that. The characters are well developed, scenes descriptive, but the plot plods right along (you're right, I said plod). This novel barely held my attention, though the ending was thrilling and ended on a high note. Take heart, Kellerman fans, Billy Straight enjoyed eight weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list, so guess I'm a maverick on this review. To show you that I'm not the only dissenter, "Entertainment Weekly" said, "This ambitious new novel by an old pro lacks the gritty feel of Hollywood sleaze that writers like Elmore Leonard live and breathe. . .In the end, the busy but thin plot can't shake the underlying saccharine tone. Billy's surname says it all." Kellerman has authored twelve Alex Delaware novels, including, When the Bough Breaks, Devils Waltz, and Survival of the Fittest. His wife, Faye Kellerman, is also a novelist.

Review: Retire Alex Delaware!!! This book was outstanding

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not great, but pretty good.....
Review: I enjoyed the book, but it took me two weeks to complete - I usually read a Kellerman in 3-4 days. I had a pretty good idea who the killer was, no big suprises there. I saw absolutely no reason for the character of Cora Adamson. Also, I felt that with the use of so many racially bigotted remarks by the various characters he was trying to make some point about racial harmony or something, and all the remarks about O.J. Simpson reinforced that (no question as to his opinion on that case!). It seemed somewhat unnecessary to the plotline.
