Summary: His best yet!
Review: This wonderful book came in the mail the day after it was published here in America. I haven't even finished it yet, but I can tell you, it is the best Jonathan Kellerman has written so far. The characters are fully fleshed (pun intended - see Moron) and realistic. It is impossible not to care deeply for and respect Billy and Petra. Looking forward to seeing her for a third time in future works - she was introduced in Survival of the Fittest.

Can't wait to read this again!

Summary: His best (SO FAR) A wild ride!!!
Review: I have read all of KELLERMAN and love Alex Delaware, and his circle of characters, so when I saw "Billy Straight" I just bought it and started to read. It took me a few chapters to realize that it was not a Delaware story, but I was already hooked! I loved Petra & Billy, and in true Kellerman fashion, this was another exciting page turner, perhaps, dare I say, the best so far!!!!

Summary: Best thriller I've read this year
Review: A friend put me on to Jonathan Kellerman a few months back after they visited here. This is my fourth of J. Kellerman so far and the best yet. The best of a dozen thrillers I've consumed this year. It has everything: narratives from a number of characters, the very believable investigation and dynamics of the LAPD, characters with depth, lots of loose ends that all come together etc. Very current, i.e. "references to not screwing this up like the O.J. case", etc. But most of all it has quality, style and authenticity that are fairly rare these days. Could make a great movie, if they didn't stray from the plot.

Summary: Engrossing psychological detective novel
Review: Australia leading the world in publishing?...about time! Kellerman's experiment narrating his story from the point of view of multiple characters (including a woman and a 12 year old boy) works marvelously in this engrossing multiple-murder detective story of highly intelligent street kid Billy Straight who has witnessed a shocking murder. Every time you think you've worked out "whodunnit", there's another clue or surprise to make you change your mind. The perfect light novel for a holiday read.

Summary: fascinating insightful and thoroughly engrossing
Review: Billy Straight is a great novel. Its the story of a runaway boy who witnesses a violent murder and a female detective investigating the crime. Its a change from the Dellaware novels but very enjoyable nevertheless. Apparently we in Australia had the privilege of the early publication of this book due to a Writers' Festival in Melbourne.

Summary: The worst book ever!!
Review: I am reading the other reviews and I cannot believe my eyes!!
My friend loaned me this book, I don't usually read this kind of cheap paperback although I was desperate for something, anything to read.
The story I admit was fine, some very interesting twists etc. My main problem, and something that prevented me from enjoying this book, or the author was the very loose and carefree manner in which the author strung together the threads of the investigation. I have read many crime novels and watched many on television and have always enjoyed the intelligent way in which authors write these stories. In this book the detectives seemes to just "guess" important information to the case. It seemed like Kellerman couldn't be bothered to think about how to make it seem plausible and instead just GAVE the clues, leads etc to the detectives.
When I put this book down after reading it I felt like I had just wasted my time. Don't read this and certainly don't buy this!!! There are so so many other great books out there, this is one you can definitely afford to miss.

Summary: Did Kellerman write this?
Review: What a riveting book. Billy's fears and anxieties are almost palpable as you follow Billy through his life at home and, subsequently, his life on the streets after running away from home. Here is a smart, sensitive, 12-year-old boy who runs away from home to escape his mother's abusive boyfriend, only to find himself living on the streets and a witness to murder. What follows is a race to see who can find Billy first. The police, who want to protect him; his mother's boyfriend, who wants to turn him in for the money; and the killer, who wants to elimiate him. Definitely a must read.
