Rating: Summary: I loved "Billy Straight"! Review: Jonathan Kellerman is one of my favorite authors. I've read all his books including "The Butchers Theatre", the Alex Delaware novels and I've just finished reading "Billy Straight". If I had to pick my favorite Kellerman book it would have to be "Billy Straight". Billy is so lovable and moral and I cared so much for and about him. He's a 12 year old runaway from an abusive home who witnesses the murder that sets off this exciting read. I also admired and respected Petra Connor, the very professional and caring LAPD detective handling the case. "Billy Straight" is a great mystery story and much more. The characters are very well defined, there's lots of suspense and so much human interest. What else can an avid reader like myself ask for!! I recommend this book to all my friends and thank Mr. Kellerman for creating "Billy". I hope we'll be reading more about him and also Petra in the near future.
Rating: Summary: My first Kellerman novel and loved it! Review: This one hit right at home with me and the ending.. a great who dunnit. I was supprised how Kellerman related to so many different characters and put those feeling in the pages of this work. Thank You Mr. Kellerman for a great peice of work.
Rating: Summary: Very Good!! Review: Liked the introduction of Petra Conner -- hope we see more of her... and really liked your creation of Billy Straight -- really liked the characters developed in this book -- enjoyed following Billy, Petra and the others through this story... and I want you to know that your ending was very good... I'm glad we think alike and I wasn't at all disappointed in how we were led through this story.... very good... a very GOOD read!!!
Rating: Summary: Solid characters highlight a tensely developed story Review: Having to not get my Alex Delaware fix this year, Billy Straight proved the skill of Jonathan Kellerman in developing charaters and weaving a wonderfully engaging story. True to form, you can visualize the charaters and the locations developed through skillful writing. I still miss Alex and Robin but was more than satisfied with the reading experience.
Rating: Summary: One of Kellermans best! Review: I am glad that Kellerman decided to take a break from the Alex Delaware series, and write about some new, original characters, as Delaware was beginning to get a bit stale. The best parts in this book are the scenes with little Billy, and you want to read just a bit further to find out what will happen to him next. The book gets the most interesting, though, about halfway through when a couple of scummy characters try to hunt doen Billy to get the reward money. Kellerman also keeps you guessing till the end who the real killer is. Overall, an interesting and engrossing tale by a fine author.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This is one book you cannot put down! I loved it and although Kellerman is a favorite of mine, this was his best so far.
Rating: Summary: Kellerman's best book in a long time Review: After a deluge of Alex Delaware novels, the last few of which were frankly not up to the standard of the author's earlier books, it was good to see Jonathan Kellerman returning to child psychology which, after all, is his forté. The characters are credible and likeable. A good read.
Rating: Summary: A disappointment from Jonathon Kellerman Review: Being Jonathon Kellermans number one fan, I was very disappointed with Billy Straight. First off this book introduced a whole cast of new characters. For those of us who have grown fond of Alex and Milo - Petra and the rest on the group did not live up to previous books. I found the story moved slowly and there were too many characters with little or no description of who they were, what they believed in, where they came from etc. It was also missing the child psyc aspect which I have come to look forward to. I struggled to finish and unlike Kellermans other book - there wasn't a surprise ending - at least not for me
Rating: Summary: Who wrote this book? Review: I have read all of Kellerman's adult fiction novels and absolutely loved them. This book was boring compared to the others.
Rating: Summary: Good, very good Review: First time reader of J Kellerman. Read the reviews and thought it sounded like "Nathan's Run" by J Gilstrap. Boy runaways from bad scene, trouble follows. Petra and Billy are great characters. Being a mom I took Billy's problems to heart like Petra. Highly recommend. Took me two days to finish, didn't want to put it down. Hope he writes another book with Petra.
