Summary: Excellent suspenseful and thrilling novel
Review: This was my first book written by the author. The story, plot, characters, and so forth up to the end are just about right. That makes the book reading as satisfactorily. Almost no profanity in the story which was great. Thanks to the readers who posted the excellent ratings here making my time's worth reading this book. I will look forward to reading author's other books.

Anyone who hasn't read THE INFORMANT, would want to read this first before reading UNDER COVER OF DARKNESS. Same character (Victoria Santos) in both books except for the second book featuring Ms. Santos' cameo appearance only. I like the first book better. Hope that helps.

Summary: Grippando hits it out of the park again
Review: UNDER COVER OF DARKNESS is yet another example of a great mystery/thriller/suspense novel. I really liked this book. I think it's the fastest moving Grippando book that I have read, and I've read them all except for A KING'S RANSOM which is next up. Once I started reading I couldn't stop.

Gus Wheatly is a prominent Seattle lawyer working in a prestigious law firm. When his wife (Beth) suddenly disappears at the same time as a string of murders takes place, Gus is left to wonder if his wife is another casualty, or an accomplice to the murders. James seamlessly weaves together the story from a couple different angles. One from the point of view of Gus, another from Andie, the local FBI agent in charge of the murder mystery case, and a third from the point of view of the killer. It's story telling at it's best.

The tension is high throughout the book with enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. The end was a shocker to me. James Grippando is my new favorite author. Thanks James and keep the books coming!

Summary: A Shocker
Review: Under Cover of Darkness was one of the best books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I could not put it down and that is a difficult task for a mother of two. He was so descriptive that you really came to love the lovable characters and hate the others. James Grippando did a fantastic job on this one. I can't wait to read the others!!!!!

Summary: Hard to put down
Review: UNDER COVER OF DARKNESS
AUTHOR: James Grippando
PUBLISHER: Simon & Schuster
REVIEWED BY: Barbara Rhoades

BOOK REVIEW: A workaholic husband, an unhappy wife, an abused sister and a cult all come together to give the reader a story that is hard to stop listening to until it is finished. When Beth Wheatley goes missing, the FBI has just begun an investigation of serial murders. Going from bad to worse, the FBI believes Beth is part of the murders. Even worse, how does Gus explain to his daughter where her mommy is?

A convicted criminal gives Beth's husband, Gus, information on how to find Beth. To prove she is telling the truth, she gives Gus a tip on a second-hand store. But before the rest of the information can be passed on, she is murdered. An FBI agent goes under cover when the cult is believed to be the reason for the killings.

This story gives the listener an incite into how easily someone can become involved in cult activities. Watch out for the surprising twist at the end. This was a book that makes you want to stay up late to finish.

Summary: Prime Rib Reading
Review: What a great find for me. I have always read by authors, if I read a good one the next probably is as good. Well, I certainly will be reading more of Mr. Grippando's. I loved the way the switch was made from serial killers to cult activity. The ending was not anticipated either, but that was just a add on to a extremly well written book. Will certainly read more.
