Summary: I don't know what all the fuss is about.
Review: I found the book a little boring and hard to believe. Nothing struck me as especially original or interesting about the characters or the plot. If you read a lot of thrillers you will encounter better plotting and more lively protagonists in many other books

Summary: SHARP AND SAVY
Review: I HAVE READ ALL OF THE JANE WHITFIELD BOOKS AND I FIND HER TO BE SHARP AND SAVY. SHE KNOWS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND DOES IT. SO WHAT IF YOU KNOW SHE IS GOING TO BE VICTORIOUS IN THE END. SHE WORKS HARD FOR HER VICTORY AND I ANXIOUSLY AWAIT HER NEXT TIME OUT.

Summary: The best!
Review: I'm not much of a mystery/suspense fan and most of the genre I've tried leaves me either cold or revolted. Thomas Perry's writing leaves everyone else far behind. Jane Whitefield relies on her intelligence, athleticism and her native wisdom rather than just whipping out a gun. I hope there will be more Jane novels to come. Thank you, Mr Perry!

Summary: at least start is lively
Review: It all starts good and interesting, however, the plot is centered around dumb actions of the good girl and on otherwise unfounded expectations of the bad guy that she will do exactly these stupid things, it is so annoying that it is almost impossible to read this book once you realize this.

Summary: An Exciting New Heroine
Review: Its a curious fact that more and more male authors have a strong female as protagonist. This leads one to hope that wimpy women who twist their ankles whenever running will eventually disappear from the literary scene. Jane's a great lady and fortunately Mr. Perry has seen fit to build a series around her.

The "hunt" scene in the latter half of the book is outstanding. Great thriller. Literate plot. Buy it today.

Summary: I have only one thing to say...
Review: Jane Whitefield for President.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An "A" for originality
Review: Jane Whitefield has to be one of the most original and interesting characters I have yet to come across. Though she did seem a little lacking in the personality department, I'm hoping that will change as the series progresses.

While in college, Jane helps a fellow Native American, of questionable integrity, escape some bad guys with even less and stumbles on a career. After performing a string of successful disappearances, Jane is duped into compromising a client's identity. It takes her quite a long time for her to figure out who the bad guy is, most readers of this genre will figure it out right away, but once she does, she gets right on the trail. While the methods she employs to do this all make logical sense, they do require gigantic leaps of faith on the part of the reader. Still, one can't help but to admire her tenacity. The showdown is exciting and suspenseful.

The pacing of the story is a little uneven in places. This is a flaw I've found in every Perry novel I've read, this is my third. In spite of this, I do find him to be an original and entertaining storyteller and will continue to seek out other titles.

Summary: A heroine for our times...
Review: Jane Whitefield is one of the most compelling, complex characters I have had the privilege to read in a long time! Vanishing Act is my first Perry book, but definitely NOT my last! Kudos to Thomas Perry!

Summary: The best suspense thriller I have read this year!
Review: Mr Perry has the ability of weaving a different culture (this time native American Indian) with a suspense thriller that has few equals. If you like books that you hate to lay down in oder to meet your obligations or to sleep, you will love this book. I finished it in two sittings.I loved it and know you will love it too
