Rating: Summary: Interesting and Enthralling! Review: "Wayne's Dead" held me captive the entire time I read this book. I didn't want to put it down and read it straight through without interruption. The book moves at a fast pace. The psychological background of the killer is explained to the point of almost being understandable. The chapters that deal with the killer and psychologist are spellbinding. I like the way French weaves romance into the story through the investigative detective, Jackson Daniels. The forensics are great. The CSI investigator, Bogie, is a great character, as is Daniels' partner, Marvin. I hope French brings these characters back. I would love to see Jackson Daniels in another thriller. Fantastic book - one I'll read more than once, I'm sure.
Rating: Summary: Suspenseful Fun!! Review: Oh, gosh! Where to start? This book is the BEST!! I was drawn into this story right from the start and held completely captive until the very last page. This book is soooooo good it should be made into a movie!!
The characters are GREAT and the plot is truly To Die For!!
Rating: Summary: Galvanizing portrayal Review: This book may not be very long, but it offers a galvanizing look into the mind/background of a serial killer. The story is fast-paced and the author doesn't waste a lot of time describing places or people. The dialogue may be rough, but it's real-life. Very little academic high-talk or perfect grammar. I mean, after all, I've never heard a cop speak with perfect diction. They use slang, like everyone else. I read where a review site gave this book high ratings and stated it reminded the reviewer of a Law and Order script (that's one reason I ordered the book, I love L&O). I agree.
Rating: Summary: Love to see this as a movie... Review: There's a serial killer traveling the Southeast, murdering men who fit the same profile: middle-aged attorneys. All are found dead in a hotel room, with the words "Wayne's Dead" written in blood on the wall above the bed. When the killer begins murdering in Knoxville, TN, Jackson Daniels and his team of investigators are stumped by the lack of evidence at each scene, unaware that the killer is within hands reach. This is a great thriller - filled with suspense and realistic characters and dialogue. I'd like to see this as a continuing series with Jackson and Marvin and Bogie and Robin. It would also make a fantastic movie.
Rating: Summary: Different but Good Review: This thriller moves at a fast pace with no extraneous detail/verbiage. The characters are sketchily outlined, allowing the reader to use their imagination (thank you!), the dialogue real, and the serial killer's mental state, as well as motives, believable. You won't get bogged down with characters coming out of the woodwork or so many twists and turns you lose your concentration. Having read another book by this author, I can say without doubt that I like her style. I look forward to reading her other books.
Rating: Summary: Excellent story Review: As a new author myself, The Dead Angel (Publish America), I was pleased with Christy Tillery French's work on this story. The characters are portrayed well, but not overdone. I agree with an earlier reviewer that many authors get lost in too much description and tedious detail. The story flows well and held my interest from beginning to end. Kudos to you, Christy, and thanks for a good read.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling Thriller Review: "Wayne's Dead" is a thrilling read, a book focusing on the motives behind a serial killer and the serach to find that killer. A serial killer begins murdering middle-aged attorneys in Knoxville, TN, leaving behind the words "Wayne's Dead". Jackson Daniels and his investigative team frantically search for their perpetrator, frustrated at the lack of evidence left behind. The ending left a real twist that kept me thinking about this book a good while after reading it. This is a gritty, fast-paced book that provides plenty of action and suspense, with a realistic look into the motive of a serial killer.
Rating: Summary: Chilling BestSeller I Couldn't Put Down! Review: I am having such a great time reading all the novels I can get my hands on by this fantastic new writer! I have become such a fan. If you are into chilling murder mysteries then this is one book you do not want to overlook!
Rating: Summary: Realism Review: Jackson Daniels is a man with an edge, a man used to being in control of his feelings and his investigations. When a brutal serial killer begins preying on attorneys in Jackson's city, his world spins out of control, even more so after he meets and falls in love with Gillian McKenzie. Jackson finds himself caught between his intense love affair with Gillian and his frantic search for the serial killer who is professional enough to leave a scene sans foresic evidence. Jackson's partner, Marvin, adds a light touch to this otherwise dark thriller. The characterizations are great, the Southern dialogue realistic, and the premise for the story one I could easily believe to be true. This is a story that moves at a fast pace and doesn't let up until the end. Make sure you have time to read this one all the way through, because you won't want to put it down once you start.
Rating: Summary: Gripping Review: I really like the premise for this book - a MPD serial killer who takes precautions (antihistamines, shaving, etc.) so as not to leave evidence at the murder scenes. The symbolic killings are understandable, the mental disorder clearly portrayed, and the brutal killer chilling. French has a real penchant for quirky characters, so throws Marvin into the mix - an investigating detective who offers some comedic relief throughout the book. I really enjoyed this character. Jackson Daniels reminded me of a young Lucas Davenport from the Sanford Prey series - brooding, with an edge.
