Summary: I Love This Author!
Review: I ordered "Wayne's Dead" after reading French's first book "Chasing Horses" and was amazed at the vast differences between the two books. Totally different genres. The first is full of humor and playfully written and deals with a woman trying to come to terms with her life, while the second is serious almost to the point of darkness and deals with a serial killer who is evil and without remorse.

Both, though, are written at a fast pace and in a concise manner, which held my attention throughout. I think French's style is just fabulous.

Jackson Daniels is a brooding man looking for a woman who has not become hardened by life. He thinks he finds that woman in Gillian, who is beautiful and somewhat naive. The two become entangled in an intense love affair which keeps Jackson from focusing on finding the serial killer who has begun to prey on middle-aged attorneys in their town. Marvin, Jackson's partner, brings some comedic relief to the story and is a fun character. The chapters with the serial killer are spine-tingling.

One of the best thrillers I've read in awhile. I searched this author and saw she has another book out, and I'm interested to see what that one's about.

Summary: Unforgettable
Review: I read Ms. French's first book "Chasing Horses", which is a romantic comedy, and was surprised at the difference in the two books. To be honest, I'm not sure which one I like best.

"Wayne's Dead" deals with a dark subject - a serial killer, Jackson Daniels is dark and brooding, and Gillian McKenzie unstable and mysterious. Jack's partner, Marvin, makes the story fun at times - a man who think he's a real bad boy, although he really isn't, thanks to his wife.

Fantastic book. One I still think about and know I will remember.

Summary: Gripping
Review: I read this book after reading French's "The Bodyguard". Huge difference between the two. Although both would probably fall under the mystery category, "Wayne's Dead" is serious with a touch of darkness while "The Bodyguard" is light-hearted and full of comedic moments and characters. Marvin, however, does offer some comedic respite in "Wayne's Dead". He's a wonderful character. Jackson Daniels is moody and detached until he meets Gillian McKenzie, a court reporter who knew one of the dead attorneys. The love affair between Jack and Gillian is intense and distracting to Jack, investigating a serial killer murdering middle-aged attorneys.

From the prologue to the epilogue, this story moves quickly, building to a surprising climax and chilling ending. French's writing is like John Sandford doing Elmore Leonard. Very good book.

Summary: Excellent Writer!!!!!

Summary: Spine Tingling Thriller
Review: After reading this author's other two books, I made sure I had enough time to read "Wayne's Dead" without interruption before starting. Again, I was drawn into the story from the first and remained engrossed throughout. I can't decide which of her books I prefer, they're all that good. But if you're a thriller lover, this book will not disappoint. It moves like a "Law and Order" script - fast and succinct, no lapses or dull parts. The charcterization is the best, the dialogue freshly real and gritty, and with vivid scenes. The romantic story within the murder investigation is a real bonus. French writes kind of like a cross between John Sandford and Elmore Leonard.

I won't give a summary since that's been done already and can only add this is a mesmerizing look at a serial killer suffering from MPD and the frantic search by the investigators to track their killer before another attorney falls prey.

Summary: Realism
Review: Jackson Daniels is a man with an edge, a man used to being in control of his feelings and his investigations. When a brutal serial killer begins preying on attorneys in Jackson's city, his world spins out of control, even more so after he meets and falls in love with Gillian McKenzie. Jackson finds himself caught between his intense love affair with Gillian and his frantic search for the serial killer who is professional enough to leave a scene sans foresic evidence.

Jackson's partner, Marvin, adds a light touch to this otherwise dark thriller. The characterizations are great, the Southern dialogue realistic, and the premise for the story one I could easily believe to be true.

This is a story that moves at a fast pace and doesn't let up until the end. Make sure you have time to read this one all the way through, because you won't want to put it down once you start.

Summary: Realistic
Review: I really like the premise for this book - a MPD serial killer who takes precautions (antihistamines, shaving, etc.) so as not to leave evidence at the murder scenes. The symbolic killings are understandable, the mental disorder clearly portrayed, and the brutal killer chilling.

French has a real penchant for quirky characters, so throws Marvin into the mix - an investigating detective who offers some comedic relief throughout the book. I really enjoyed this character. Jackson Daniels reminded me of a young Lucas Davenport from the Sanford Prey series - brooding, with an edge.

Summary: Gosh, this book was sooo thrilling!
Review: First, I'd like to tell the world what a 'CF' fan I have become and second, I'd like to tell the world they owe it to themselves to discover the exciting writing-style of Christy French! A new writer (yes) she is but a new writer with style and tons of talent! You Must Read All (4) Of Her Exciting books! (Chasing Horses, Wayne's Dead, Chasing, Demons, & The Bodyguard), fun fun stories!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Chilling thriller
Review: I thought this book was a really good read. A chilling, thought-provoking, gritty, realistic look at a serial killer with a mental disorder. The story focuses on the investigation and the intense relationship that develops between Jackson Daniels, the lead investigator, and Gillian McKenzie, a court reporter he meets during the investigation.
