Summary: Hard to put down....a great read!
Review: This is the second book that I have read by Randy Alcorn. As was the case with his first book, And Eternity, I could not put it down. The book focuses on racial and spiritual matters. It challenged me rethink my outlook on racial issues and concerns. The author provided characters who were real and alive. The characters are actively seeking out truth and justice for their community. Christian beliefs and principles are questioned and brought into focus for the reader. Mr. Alcorn has the ability to demonstrate his Christian beliefs and show his love for Jesus. I recommend this book highly.

Summary: Awesome in every way!
Review: After reading The Edge of Eternity by the same author, and thinking it was one of the finest books I've ever read, I was eager to read another Randy Alcorn book. Dominion was exceptional. The characterization was so intense that every person in the story became almost real to me. The plot was as good as the characterization. On top of that, the message was as uplifting as anything I've read. With regard to its treatment of race relations and bigotry, I think this book should be required reading in every high school. That's not in any way to say it's a kid's book. I believe that the longer you've lived and experienced the trials of this life, the more meaningful the book will be to you. Now, of course, I'll have to read everything written by Randy Alcorn!

Summary: Slow at first, then I couldn't put it down
Review: I bought this book soon after it came out because I enjoyed Deadline so much. However, it seemed every time I picked it up I couldn't get into it--until this week. I haven't been able to put it down, for several reasons. It's an excellent story and mystery, for one. But it really made me think about race issues in ways I never had before, and it made me extremely aware of my thoughts and actions when I see or interact with people of other races. My thoughts and actions weren't as nonracist as I like to think of myself as being.

I also loved the scenes from heaven, and the historical information shared there. In a few places I felt like I got bogged down, but I think that's because it was late at night, and I was much too tired to still be reading!

Thank you Randy Alcorn for another wonderful book!

Summary: Dominion
Review: I loved 'Deadline' and found Alcorn's next work of fiction, 'Dominion' even better! His gift for making the reader feel what the characters feel is great. This book gave me suspense, spiritual insight and a greater understanding of racial differances. I can not thank my best friend Amy enough for turning me on to these books!

Summary: An honest view of God's love shared through His children.
Review: It was awesome! It was great to see main characters that walked what they believed regardless of color. Even though God doesn't see color when He sees us, we do. It is important for each of us to understand each other. That understanding comes from knowing where each of us has been and why we are affected by certain events the way that we are. God's love is best characterized by Clarance's father, who is a walking testament of it. If we could all love like that, we could reach the whole world for Christ!

Summary: Hard to get into, but worth staying with.
Review: I had read Alcorn's DEADLINE and could not put it down. This novel was difficult to get into and seemed a little "preachy" at first. Clarence had a major chip on his shoulder, which annoyed me at times, but I must admit that it made me think about the racism (subtle and otherwise) that still exists in America. If you look at reading this book as an educational experience, Alcorn's forays into history and politics, and his occasional sermonizing won't be so distracting. I'm grateful for the things it opened my eyes to, but I think the "Reader's Digest Condensed Version" would be a better read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Read Alcorn's Deadline first, but then be sure to read this
Review: Great plot along with much thought provoking info about blacks in America

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Insightful, profound murder mystery.
Review: For some reason, it took me several chapters before this book captured me, but it did, and I found it at once profound, insightful and thrilling. The insights into race relations are woven excellently into the story. The heavenly perspective was thought provoking.

Summary: Breathtaking!
Review: I love to read christian fiction and having never heard of Randy Alcorn, I decided to pick it up and read the cover. It intrigued me and I went on to buy it. While reading this book I kept telling everyone about this "great new black christian author". I was so very surprised to find out that Randy Alcorn was not black. He captured the life and trials of the African-American experience so well. It was so real for me that I felt everything the characters were feeling. The portholes of heaven were great in imagining all those gone on before us that are now "so great a cloud of witnesses".

Summary: EYE OPENING!!!
Review: I have never had my life changed as much as it has after I read The Dominion!! I am white and was raised in a very sheltered "white world". But I always knew there was more to life than what I was living and more to the african-american people around me. This book has certainly taught me about a culture I had no idea about through its honesty and historical facts and biblical basis. Im recommending this book to all my friends of all races and colors in hopes that we can come to terms with our sameness and realize we are all children of God...and that folks is all that matters!! Hurry out now and buy this book if u have not done so!! You will laugh, cry, and re-evaluate ur life after reading it!! Thank you Mr. Alcorn! Ill be looking forward to another Clarence and Jake book. Perhaps its time for Ollie and Manny to come to Christ!!!
