Rating: Summary: A good follow up Review: I did not enjoy this book as much as the first (Deadline), but it was very good. It followed up on some of the characters from the first book that were left hanging. I enjoyed it and would definately read both again.
Rating: Summary: Love this book, read it four or five times, a great story Review: I didn't know who Randy Alcorn was when I found this book lying in my office left behind by the previous occupant. What a winner of a book. It is big, but the story winds up and winds up and has twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. It presents a beautiful theology of God and Heaven. However, if you aren't a Christian or don't care about God or heaven read the story anyway as the theological elements are wonderfully woven into the story and add to the drama. Randy writes one heckuva good book. (and looking at this review you might be thinking I'm a relative or his publisher, but I'm not, I just like the book.)
Rating: Summary: Not His Best Review: I loved The Ishbane Conspiracy and Safely Home, but Dominion is a big disppointment so far. Admittedly, I'm only halfway through, but it has been torturous. If you want a book about God, this is not it. Read his others. This book is about racism and slavery.
Rating: Summary: Dominion Review: This book is superb, intense and the biblical life applications for use in todays life is heartfelt. I loved this book along with Deadline. I am at a loss for words to properly get across the whole sense of these 2 books. I also came away with a sense of peace on some of the issues he addressd.
Rating: Summary: Now I know why my church loves this book! Review: Because it's awesome. We all deal with "issues" in our lives. For some it's issues with gangs. For others it's drugs or infidelity. In addressing the very sensitive nature of the "racial issue", this book will help you see the answer to resolving the "issues" in our lives. I just can't say how important it was for me to read this book! Not only was it a wonderful experience, it was also a stunning novel! A must read!
Rating: Summary: HEAVEN & HELL SO CLOSE Review: A serious treatment of gang warfare, racial prejudice and the human drive to gain dominion. The interlayers of viewpoints from heaven & hell as well as the happenings on earth made it seem so real and close and intertwined. Well developed story and challenging length: 600 plus pages.
Rating: Summary: SERIOUS READERS ONLY Review: This book had a profound impression on my views of the redemption of the gang culture, the depths of race divisions, God's purpose through every circumstance, and how close heaven is to us all. The theme of dominion forges through every character and situation. The length of the book (600 plus pages) and exhaustive treatment of various theological and social issues requires a committed reader. A rich read.
Rating: Summary: Racism is a ploy of Satan! Review: This was a little more difficult for me than most books I read because it is about, and uses the 'lingo' of intercity black teens, gang-bangers and the like but it was well worth the effort. It is an excellent book and really helped me see racial predjudice through the eyes of a black person. It made me more sensitive to the struggles my black brothers and sisters go through that I, a white woman, have never had to face. As in Deadline, to which I suppose this could nearly be called the sequel, it is full of spiritual truths that we all need to understand. I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Dominion by Randy Alcorn Review: It was an excellent book; one of the best I have read besides Deadline. It made me think about issues that I needed to deal with that never occured to me before. In the middle of reading this book, I went to Amazon to buy any other book they had that Randy Alcorn wrote.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE Review: I just picked this book up one night because I was bored. Little did I know that I would never be the same again. This book totally revolutionized the way I think about race relations. I lived around only black people, and I (who am white) was the one living in a minority. However, I knew that I would soon be returning to a place where it would be the opposite situation. This book helped deal with the complex relationships that would ensue. On top of that, this book has one of the best mystery plot lines I have ever read. After reading it three times, I still like it. It should be required reading for anyone, from high school age to adult.
