Rating: Summary: Exciting and Captivating Review: I really enjoyed reading this book and found it difficult to put the book down. While some books have a slow start, Carnal Innocence draws you into the storyline right from the beginning. The descriptive writing makes it seems as you are actually seeing the events as they happen. If not made for a movie already, I feel this storyline will make an excellent movie. Great writing Nora Roberts

Rating: Summary: Classic Nora Review: If you think Innocence, Miss. is going to be your average sleepy southern small town, thank again! Gossip that travels like wild fire and some pretty gruesome murders make Innocence a pretty interesting place. Nora expertly wraps good plot and nice romance into this book. Classic Nora! I definitly reccommend this title. I'm not a fan of romance without plot, and this title is more like a murder mystery than a romance.
Rating: Summary: Great thriller, fitting title Review: This was my first encounter with Nora Roberts, and I must say, I'M HOOKED. This was an exciting thriller from the first paragraphs, where a boy finds a victim in the horrendous stabbed "artwork" of the killer. Roberts does very well with characterization. Before you are a quarter of the way into the book, you're hooked on the characters and their problems. The characters are very believable. Of course, I especially liked the sexual tension and interactions between the two main characters, Caroline Waverly and Tucker Longstreet. The description of the town makes the reader feel that they are there. The plot is very exciting and doesn't stop adding tension from the very beginning to the surprise ending. No one would ever have guessed the killer's identity! There was plenty for the morbidly curious -- lots of blood and gruesomeness from the serial killer. An all-around enjoyable and thrilling book. Bravo, Roberts!
Rating: Summary: A great Southern yarn! Review: This was the first Nora Roberts book I've ever read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She has an excellent ear for dialogue, and never missed a step with these southern characters. As a southerner myself, nothing is more irritating than a phrase used incorrectly or a bad southern accent (I listened to the audio version). A couple of the characters where a little over-simplified, but all in all a great story. I love suspense books and am a big fan of Stephen King and Dean Koontz, but I also love romance and good, sexy dialogue. Ms. Roberts combines both. This won't be the last of her books I'll read, that's for sure!
Rating: Summary: This book is one of my favorites! Review: I am a major fan of Nora Roberts and I have read many books by her. Carnal Innocence is one of my most favorites. She has a way of really portraying a southern city and the people in it VERY well. She pulled me right into the book and I could not stop reading it once I started! The characters are perfect in their roles and the dialect and wording is absolutely fantastic! This is a great mystery book and one that will keep you guessing until the very end!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: As a new Roberts fan, I became familiar with her more recent works before I could work back to the earlier ones. I was not at all disappointed by this earlier effort - I loved it! Innocence, Mississippi is anything but that. A serial killer has distraught the small town, causing even its women to take up arms... Caroline, a world famous violinist, has sought the town as a sort of reprive from her busy world. A chance to settle back to earth. Instead, she finds herself in the middle of a triple homocide, stalked by a killer, falling in love, and hopelessly content in this place she's beginning to call home. Full of, but overly weighed down by love, Roberts also works more serious themes into the novel. Abuse, alcoholism, infedelity and psychopathy make this more than a romance. I stayed up all night to finish it.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed With Use Of Racism To Tell Tale! Review: As a fan of Nora Roberts, I was extremely disappointed and personally offended that she so freely used the word "nigger" and other derogatory language in telling her tale in Carnal Innocence. As an African American, I found myself unable to get pass these racial slurs as an unnecessary diversion from the main plot. As a successful white writer, I believe that Ms. Roberts (and all writers) has a responsibility to create stories that do not offend other racial or ethnic groups -- even in trying to "realistically" portray the setting. I am disturbed that she found it acceptable to continue to use the "n" word and had several characters suddenly willing to[commit such treacherous acts] in modern day America (in depicting small town racist stereotypes to the hilt), as though she could care less what African Americans and other racially conscious readers thought (...). I would never recommend this novel to anyone who is trying to get past racism in America and does not need to be reminded of the worst kinds of racial prejudice in what is supposed to be an enjoyable romantic suspense work of fiction! Furthermore, I am disappointed that the novel is listed in many online bookstore sites as new, when in fact, it first came out in 1991. This is exploitation at its worst (and likely the fault of the money hungry publisher more than the author)! Nevertheless, I will have to give some thought to purchasing any future Roberts novels after the sour taste this one has left in my mouth!
Rating: Summary: STEAMY SOUTHERN ROMANTIC MYSTERY Review: There are bizarre murders being committed in the sleepy town of Innocence, Mississippi. The writer takes you on a journey of suspicion and innuendo, where you're guessing a different suspect with each new clue. This mystery becomes more indepth as a romantic interest develops between a visiting world-famous musician and one of the chief suspects. You cannot guess the spine chilling conclusion. This book will make you a Nora Roberts fan.
Rating: Summary: A seductive mystery that I couldn't put down.. Review: I half heartedly started this book (thinking it was a romance-and I hate romance novels); but from the first page-I was captured by this story. Not only does Roberts provide a real whodonit mystery, but she also provides the reader with a romantic, seductive character in Tucker Longstreet. This tale had me guessing right to the end. The perfect book to read on vacation-the heat on the beach would mix perfectly with the description of those hot Southern nights.
