Rating: Summary: In Fidelity Review: In her gripping, multifaceted novel, In Fidelity, once again M.J.Rose proves that she is both a master storyteller and a skillful portrayer of the human psyche. Once you pick up this engrossing novel, you won't be able to put it down until the very breath-taking ending.Dora Levy-Mossanen's award winning novel "Lyla," is the story of an obsessed woman's jouney to plan her revenge against her husband's betrayal.
Rating: Summary: Great sex, complex characters, a riveting plot Review: Is it my imagination, or is this the first novel I've read that features great sex scenes between a husband and wife, no less? I love that M.J. Rose's novels transcend genre and stereotype (or maybe she's creating a new genre -- nothing wrong with that)and that she integrates eroticism into a tightly plotted, fast read about interesting characters (sort of like, er, eroticism is actually a part of real people's daily lives)and I also love that I was so engrossed toward the end of the book that, when my plane touched down without delays, I was actually disappointed. If you want thrilling, hot and heavy yet complex fiction that doesn't leave you with an awful sinking feeling the next morning, check out this book.
Rating: Summary: A fascinating read Review: It was difficult to put this book down. Suspenseful doesn't even begin to cover it; it was terrifying. M.J. Rose makes you care about the characters so that when they are in dangerous situations you can't stop reading until you find out what happens.
Rating: Summary: Riveting Susupense Drama Review: Jordan Sloan, respected psychotherapist, seems to be able to help everyone but herself. Wrestling with her witnessing her father's cold-blooded murder and reeling from her husband's infidelity, M. J. Rose has given us a complex character and delves into the realm of true fear in her second novel, In Fidelity. At the age of eighteen Jordan watched as Dan Mallory, with whom she was having an affair, shot her father. It was Jordan's testimony at Mallory's trial that sent him away forever. Now eighteen years later, Mallory has convinced a parole board that he has been rehabilitated and is released from prison. Assured by her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Robert; her brother, Jeff; and Mallory's parole officer that he is no longer a threat to society, Jordan longs to believe that he won't come after her. The three men think the phone calls with only a clock ticking in the background are just a prank, but Jordan knows it is Mallory. When Mallory disappears and the phone calls increase, Jordan's life begins to unravel. While she sees him everywhere, those around her ---Robert, Jeff, the parole officer and ever her daughter, Lilly---preach forgiveness. But if Jordan forgives Mallory, mustn't she also forgive Robert's unfaithfulness five years earlier and stop the divorce proceeding she has initiated? Terrified at first for only herself, then for what Mallory might do to Lilly and agitated by a new patient who is challenging her therapy methods, Jordan tries to hold on, but fear and indecisiveness quickly engulfs her ordered life. In Fidelity is a riveting suspense drama grips readers from its first sentence until the past page is turned. Sometimes shocking, sometimes predictable, Rose offers us a chance to think about what we might do if our worst nightmares were suddenly part of our everyday life. In Fidelity is a spine-tingling novel, sure to bring your own nightmares to the surface.
Rating: Summary: Stupendous, once again !!! Review: M. J. Rose's writing style is so seductive, you cannot help getting caught up her stories. I have learned to never start one of her novels unless I know I will be able to read until I finish. IN FIDELITY does not disappoint. Her mother/daughter dialogues ring so true, they haunt you for months. Daughters in the throes of love, and mothers disappointed with their experiences in love, have to work so hard to understand each other. Rose nails this dilemma with such beauty. I have no idea how Rose manages to make each reader feel as if they are part of the story, be it the scrumptious settings as in SHEET MUSIC where you can smell the ocean and feel the spray on your face, or the wonderful little Tudor cottage in FLESH TONES, where you see yourself sitting in front of the fireplace. Amazing! I am anxiously awaiting for her new novel, THE HALO EFFECT, although I know I will be waiting, once again, for the next. What's a granny to do?

Rating: Summary: Sexy suspense Review: M.J. Rose has a knack for weaving suspense and sex into an appealing pattern -- fear and sex, after all, do go together -- and for drawing real people. For example, Jordan's solicitousness with her patients is tempered by her stubbornness in her personal relationships. I alternately commiserated with and wanted to poke Lily, and I think I'm in love with Robert. These are all people I'd like to know. And I'd love to have some of that jewelry!
Rating: Summary: Another fine erotic thriller from Rose Review: M.J. Rose's debut novel, LIP SERVICE, was an erotic thriller that I couldn't put down . . . so when I came across her second novel, IN FIDELITY, I naturally made a point to read it too. While not quite as captivating as her first book, I also liked this one . . . it is the story of a psychotherapist, haunted by the long-ago murder of her father, who fears the killer's revenge when she learns that he has been paroled from prison. There's an interesting subplot involving the infidelity of her husband . . . in addition, the story is moved along by believable encounters with patients, her teenage daughter, etc. And then there are the parts involving sex . . . though not quite as hot as LIP SERVICE, this book definitely would carry an R rating if it were a movie. Lastly, I liked the dialogue . . . it was very realistic. There were many memorable passages; among them: We made love for hours that first time, leaving my bedroom only for something to drink, or eat. We smoked some marijuana and spent the rest of the night listening to a combination of classical and rock music. I watched Robert change the music on my stereo. We listened to records then, and I marveled at the care with which he handled them: only by the edges, not allowing his fingers to touch the surface of the plastic. [the daughter in response to her mother's food purchases] "That's not the point. It's about greed. About being aware of what things cost. You know, there's a Zen story about a very rich man who died and someone asked what he'd left. And someone else said--Every thing. You can't keep it. You have to share it. It's not really ours." It wasn't an exaggeration. I finally understood. If you accept that nothing is perfect and are willing to forgive, if you look at the people around you and recognize them for who they are and for the gifts they have to offer and not damn them for who they cannot be or what they cannot give, if you acknowledge that we are all perfect and imperfect, then you really can live happily ever after.
Rating: Summary: Delicious Review: Now's the time to click on In Fidelity, so you have time to relish this and Sheet Music while waiting for Halo Effect. I love a book where I can sympathize with the characters' pains, glory in their pleasures, and feel just a little bit quicker on the uptake. Excellant suspense. Unlike many books featuring a woman in peril, this one does not feel like a made-for-TV-movie. Readers who grew up on Nancy Drew mysteries and moved on to the suspense of Daphne Du Maurier will recognize a familiar form presented in a format to appeal to literate readers. And, if that isn't enough, M. J. Rose is the Most Sensual Author in the World. I can smell, taste, feel, and hear what's written. Every scene is vivid and engrossing. Reading should always be this pleasurable. Nummy.
