Summary: Ollie...a true American Patriot!
Review: This is a wonderful work of fiction by a true American patriot. Many have forgotten the heroic deeds this man did in service of his country...introducing the scourge of crack to Black America through his dealings with John Hull and other drug-dealing Contras...supplying missiles to outlawed terrorist regimes...lying to Congress...assisting as a military advisor to Saddam Hussein along with Donald Rumsfeld throughout the 1980s, at the time when he was gassing his own people. Ollie is a brave patriot, like Limbaugh, Coulter, and Hannity, with a great story to tell.

You owe it to yourself to read this book!!!

Summary: I wander how much of Colonel North's book is actually fact?
Review: I HIGHLY recommend purchasing this book. I was kept on the edge of my seat. I kept wandering how much is actually fact. The twists and turns keep you guessing and I like the Christian theme Colonel North applied, being a fellow BELIEVER.

Summary: 600 pages in 5 days
Review: Please don't let the number of pages dissuade you from getting this book. Every page drove me to turn to the next and when other obligations called I could not wait to pick up the book again. Col. North does an excellent job at keeping you on the edge of your seat and wanting more. The book is excellent in two folds. Great entertainment and a Great Christian Message. I only wish I had another 600 pages to read.

Summary: Setting up straw men to knock them down . . .
Review: Just read the first two pages right here on the site to see what tired, familiar garbage this is. You'll meet the absurdly cliched character of the National Security Council head who "loathes the military" -- "like his President" (yes, it's a book full of gratuitous Clinton-bashing), is one of those arrogant elitist liberals who went to, you know it, Harvard, AND who's "grossly overweight and disheveled." I'm surprised they didn't also give him dandruff and bad breath. Tedious polemics unartfully garbed in the trappings of a thriller.

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: One of the better books I have read. It made me wonder how much of the book was based on true facts. It's supposed to be fiction, but ... it was so very realistic. The twist of having Oliver North in his own book as a character was really fascinating. I really enjoyed the book, it was very inspiring and encouraging even though it exposed possible true weaknesses in our beloved country. Again, I believe this story was more "real" than most would want to admit.

Summary: A Well-Written Thriller
Review: This well-written thriller keeps you guessing if we're really going to blast the bad guys (Saddam, Bin-Laden and company) to their 77-virgin paradise, or if the back-stabbing National Security Advisor and our erstwhile enemy, now ally Russian general will annihilate the good guys. It's a 600-page book and I finished it in a week, mostly reading it on the subway, and it so enthralled me that on one occasion I almost missed my stop. Besides being an exciting read, the book also portrays our military as dedicated, competent and brave, which is reassuring in view of 9/11, a sentiment seldom conveyed in our media. I recommend Col. North's book highly.

Summary: Fast read, didn't like ending....at first.
Review: I found the book to be very entertaining and a fast read for a 600 page book. I thought Mr. North did a excellent job in writing this book. I liked the way he developed his characters. I at first didn't like the way the book ended, in fact I couldn't believe it ended as such. Then I read...that this book is the first book of a three part series, so the ending makes sense to me. Good book, you will enjoy, IMO.

Summary: Reheated tripe
Review: Probably not the last we'll hear from this lying, contemptuous of Congress cocaine-running weasel. If you really want to waste time reading this poorly written, self-aggrandizing drivel, go ahead, but don't say you weren't forwarned. North's adolescent fantasies of dare-doing and bravado are only matched by his meglomania and imagined self-righteousness. A real snoozer to boot. Wait for the Marvel Comics version, it's not far behind-

Summary: Keep Reading
Review: This book was truely excellent. I did start off slow though, in my opinion, and I wondered for awhile why people were so enthralled. However, the last 200 pages clearly cannot be put down. It is a surprising book also because it details a message of faith which gave me a new appreciation for Col. North.

Summary: Inclusion of the author makes it interesting
Review: This is a fairly good book. The plot is good, but enhanced by the timeliness of the setting - Hussein's Iraq and UN involvement. The characters - especially the bad guys are not very convincing.

North's own involvement in the plot gives it a nice twist. It also makes much of the background material more believable - one must imagine that Ollie knows much about his topic. I actually thought the book was made more intriguing by deciphering North's barely hidden agendae.

Lastly, be prepared for, but not offended by, a few chapters of fundamentalist Christian proselytizing. A bit more of North's agenda thrown into the mix.

All in all an amusing spy/thriller with good hard current events thrown in. Worth the read.
