Rating: Summary: Fantastic story! With some flaws however. Review: Fantastic story! Delves into the depth and uncovers the bureaucratic corruption going on, on a daily basis on the hill, and around the globe among our so called leaders. Regardless if the story is completely true, based on a true story, or simply fiction, the moral however surly is true. And the world of espionage displayed in this writing sure reflects what the real underworld of intelligence is all about. The reason I chose to rate it with 3 stars only is because I believe the first 300 pages could have been written in 50. The later half of the book is indeed rich and interesting though. Also, the part with the women has nothing to do with the story and was simply added to add spice to the story. It is totally redundant. In summery, this book would have been more interesting, and would deserve at least one more star, had it been a 250-page paperback.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book by a Wonderful Man... Review: This book is engaging and full of rich insights.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: Be advised once you get into this book its hard to get out. While a few chapters of this 500 page brick were highly unessisary the book was incredibly good. I beg to differ with the reviewers who said the book was too preachy. While it did include a trac like christian message it was weaved into the book and hardly noticable (if you skip a few paragraphs).
Rating: Summary: Not what I thought... Review: I purchased this book in audio form for my cop husband and I to listen to on a road trip. Nothing on the packaging indicated this book was loaded with born again sermonizing. We did considerable fast forwarding on our little trip. The military and espionage stuff was entertaining, but as people who do not consider themselves a part of that particular religious circle we were dismayed to have paid money to be proseletyzed at without any warning. Foolish me. Next time I'll be reading the reviews on Amazon.combefore I invest.
Rating: Summary: Best book ever written!! Review: I am planning on purchasing 7 more books for my friends. This book is GREAT and you won't go wrong with it. Caution you won't be able to put the book down.
Rating: Summary: Mission Compromised Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. It was refreshing to be able to read a book filled with intrigue, adventure, and combat operations without having to wade through all the gratuitous sex and foul language. I found the book suspenseful, I had a hard time putting it down. I appreciated how the truth of the Gospel was interwoven thoughout the story in a realistic and faithful manner. I enjoyed the book very much and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Dissonance Review: I did try to read this thing but the dissonance was too great. Every time Mr. North beat the drum of duty, honor, loyalty I kept seeing and hearing my father, retired army col. and verteran of three conflicts, turn off the TV after listening to North testify in front of Congress and say "That man is a scoundrel and a traitor." And then he explained how North violated his officer's oath to the Consitution. So forgive me, I really can't comment on the literary merits my stomach was turning too violently to notice.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorites Review: This book is a great read. I would highly recommend it to anyone who seeks a military adventure with many twists and turns. This book centers on the middle east, Osama bin laden, Iraq, secret assasinations of terrorists, and weapons of mass destruction; it almost seems that North was a bit prophetic in writing this one. Be patient for the first few chapters as you are given important background information and you will be rewarded with a captivating book that you will not be able to put down, at least I wasn't.
Rating: Summary: I could not stop reading !!! Review: Great book, bether then Clancy. I am looking forward to read more from him.
Rating: Summary: Gene Review: Okay story. It reads as if it is his first book -- a bit pasted together. And, a bit shallow with concisely filling in his characters and plot. But, still an enjoyable read. I'm sure his skill will increase with his next books.
