Rating: Summary: Boring Review: The Rita Mae Brown series is better suited to a TV show than a book. Very little description and lots of dialogue. In my opinion, Carole Nelson Douglas is a much better writer. Her descriptions are glorious, she is full of humor and Midnight Louie has a wonderful personality. Her characters develop from novel to novel. I highly recommend reading the Midnight Louie series. Can't wait for the next book!
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER CAT COZY MYSTERY Review: This book drew my interest because of the stop along the Underground Railroad hidden somewhere in the hospital. I love cozies about cats, and this one didn't disappoint! I have read one or two of Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie's books before, but this one was more entertaining. The fox hunt and breakfast afterward are customs I had not heard of before. I can't understand how such a small town can have so many murders, but that's what makes me come back for more! The animals are ingenious, as usual. How would their mistress get along without them?
Rating: Summary: This cat foams at the mouth too much. Review: This entry in the Mrs. Murphy lexicon is a royal rip-off in the classic tradition of the 19th century peddlers of snake oil. Rita is indeed trying to milk as much money out of this franchise as possible. The sales pitch at the end of the book is at best exceedingly self serving. Only the truely gullible would be stupid enough to believe it. Perhaps it is time Rita informs her devout fans how much money her merchandise and book sales generate for the animal welfare league. And I rather doubt Rita is as bad off financially as Sneaky Pie would have you to believe. Her closets are probably packed full with expensive clothes -- a lot more expensive than what a lot of her fans can afford in their own wardrobes. This particular novel has no substance worth mentioning. Its formulistic, soap opera, format is par for the course. If you must insist upon reading it borrow a copy from your local public library or someone you know who has a copy and doesn't mind lending it out.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, My Favorite Book! Review: Well, whoever said this is confusing for new readers it is not. This was my first as well, but I understood it perfectly. It was exciting, although it was easy to figure out. Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie used the traditional surprise ending. Exciting, and I love having the animals be a part of it, smarting off to the humans. I loved this book! My second favorite is Murder, She Meowed so check that out too! Well, I loved this book, a definate MUST to get.
Rating: Summary: Cute Cozy Review: When workers at the Crozet Hospital begin turning up dead, Harry with the help of her pet companions Mrs. Murphy and Pewter (the cats) and Tee Tucker (the dog) begin searching for the killer. But before they can solve the mystery, more bodies turn up, and soon the police and Harry know that the murder is someone whom is an acquaintance to everyone in the samll town of Crozet, Virginia. Now they just need to find out who. This was a very interesting cozy, perfect for animal lovers. My only pet peeve about this series (as another reviewer stated before), is the amount of characters. The story can become quite confusing when there are characters such as Big Mim and Little Mim. But the story is still good, and quite interesting, and will have readers thirsting for more.
