Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: This book grabbed my attention from the first page and kept it all the way to the end. Whitlow has crafted a story that reads like a cross between Grisham and Peretti. His legal knowledge adds depth and believability, and the power of prayer in our everyday lives comes through loud and clear.
Rating: Summary: The real spirit world Review: This book is both an engaging story of the development of a relationship, the spiritual journey of a modern soul, and a textbook on spiritual warfare. As a jaded, 20th century Christian who had almost despaired of seeing finely crafted fiction portraying authentic Christian themes, I was absolutely impressed by this book. The intrigue and sheer creativity of the plot, the well-developed characters, and the wisdom and depth of the spiritual aspects affecting the plot and characters are all outstanding. I can only hope for more books from Whitlow and a new breed of Christian writer to come from this good seed! A great read with lots to ponder.
Rating: Summary: A very original and suspenseful book Review: This book is one of the best works of fiction I have read in a long time. Once I began to read it, I was unable to stop until I finished the book. The plot of the book was both original and very believable. My mind continually dwelt on the contents of this book long after reading it. Even today, my wife and I will from time to time come across something that reminds us of The List and we start talking about it all over again. Authors come and go but based on his first book, Mr. Whitlow should be around for a long time.
Rating: Summary: The List Review: This book is very well constructed. The action, mystery and suspence is well balanced to keep your heart and mind both fully engaged. You will be thankful for having experienced the story line as well once you are done reading. I usually rate a novel based on one thing; do I think about the characters and their situations in between readings. (as a slow to medium reader I will take several evenings to finish a book this size). I was so into this story I thought of it constantly. It is not a feel good novel, but rather one about real life. This will definatly be a movie one day.
Rating: Summary: FROM A TRUE TARHEEL Review: THIS BOOK WAS WONDERFUL. BEING FROM CHARLOTTE, EACH PAGE CAME ALIVE FOR ME. THE SUSPENSE MAKES THIS BOOK A REAL PAGE TURNER.A BELIEVABLE BOOK EVEN DOWN TO THE STREETS AND LANDMARKS USED. WHAT A PLEASURE TO FINALLY DISCOVER A CHRISTIAN SUSPENSE WRITER.I CAN'T WAIT TO READ ROBERT WHITLOW'S NEXT BOOK.
Rating: Summary: The List Review: This is my favorite book of all time, and I have been an "English major" since I learned how to read! Without preaching, this novel takes the reader to places many have never gone - to the realm of the supernatural. Whitlow combines humor, romance, mystery, and spiritual depth in a very enjoyable way. I recommend this book highly, and look forward to many more books by this author.
Rating: Summary: Intriguing reading: myterious and spiritual Review: This was an unusual plot set in today's complex world where spiritual life is not the norm among the young adults in corporate America. The two main story lines developed very quickly (more quickly than in real life perhaps) and yet it was realistic enough to make you feel good about the outcome. I found this book classified as Religious Fiction in the book store, but the suspense in it was more than mere "fiction." I hope the author writes more books and I look forward to his deveopment of ideas. For the first published work of this author, I think it is excellent. If was refreshing to read a whole book without any curse words!
Rating: Summary: mystery? Review: When I bought this book, I thought I was buying a mystery. Wrong! It would have made a good one. It's a mystery at the start and end. Everything in between is a love story. Too bad, because the mystery part was good.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: When young attorney Renny Jacobson meets with his father's attorney to discuss his deceased father's will, his hopes and dreams of finally being able to enjoy some of his father's wealth are crushed by the will's contents. His father has left him with a seat on secret committee that Renny has never heard of. Renny's quest to find out all he can about the secret "club" leads him into a spiritual battle unlike anything he has ever faced. This book grabs you from the first page. Robert Whitlow combines the writing styles of John Grisham and Frank Peretti, two of my favorite authors. If you enjoy Christian fiction then this is a must-read. I can't wait to read Whitlow's next book!
Rating: Summary: A fascinating discovery of spiritual truth Review: Whitlow does an excellent job of keeping the reader interested in the plot while revealing powerful trues concerning generational blessings and curses, as well as the right for every beleiver to know and hear the voice of God.
