Rating: Summary: Not an exceptional book Review: The biggest problem I had with this book was my own expectations. Knowing that it had spent weeks on the best seller lists, and seeing the five star rating on Amazon.com, I expected an exceptional book. This one was only mediocre. Half way through the book, I realized that I had not met any character who I actually liked. You expect not to like the defendants, but their attorney (the narrator of the story) is an alcoholic womanizer. His ex-wife is a user. The star witness is so pathetic, you feel sorry for her. Mary Lou is only character I did not feel disdain for, and her role in the story was not deep enough that I felt anything at all about her. The plot is good enough; it is anything but boring. But the fatal flaw in the story is that DNA testing would have ended the case before the trial. But then there would not have been a story, would there? Also, I am not a prude, but I don't really like a book where the "f" word is used half a dozen times on each page. If you are an avid reader, this book is worth reading since, as I said, the plot is good. But if you only read a few books a year, skip this one. There are a lot of better ones out there.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: This book is another victory for this author. I have read Key Witness and The Disappearance and this one was just as good, if not better. I really enjoyed the plot, and the fact that there were subplots within the story of the main character's personal life. If you pick this up, be prepared to not be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Great Entertainment Review: This book keeps you interested from page one to the end. It is pure unadulterated entertainment. The characters are fasinating. As in life, the lines of good and evil are not as clearly drawn as some would like to think.
Rating: Summary: AN EXCELLENT BOOK Review: THIS HAS BECOME MY ALL TIME FAVORITE LEGAL THRILLER BECAUSE OF HOW THE LAWYER, WHOSE NAME I HAVE FORGOTTEN, PREVAILS AND IS REDEEMED. I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF READING IT, ESPECIALLY HOW THE MYSTERY WAS SOLVED, THE REAL CULPRIT FOUND AND HOW JUSTICE PREVAILED. I LOVE THIS BOOK AND HAVE BOUGHT IT FOR MANY FRIENDS.

Rating: Summary: Good as Grisham Review: Will Alexander is a successful criminal attorney and partner in a prestigious firm in Sante Fe. However, it is all coming apart at the seams as his alcoholism and womanizing causes his partners/friends to cut him loose. Down and out, Will is contacted to represent four outlaw bikers accused of an especially gruesome murder that has rocked this smallish western town. The town wants revenge, and quick, ruining anyone who is involved with the bikers. Meanwhile, Will's ex-wife has accepted a job in Seattle and is taking his 10-year old daughter and center of his life (except for the bottle) with her. Now Will is in a fight to turn around his life, remain a part of his daughter's life, and prevent his clients from losing their lives. The story continues at a good pace, especially the many twists and turns in the courtroom. Having read all of Grisham's books, and becoming increasingly frustrated and disenchanted with them, I recommend Freedman as a good alternative for those fans of the courtroom drama.

Rating: Summary: The editor should have cut 100 pages. Review: Will Alexander, one of Santa Fe's most successful lawyers, is asked to represent four members of an infamous motorcycle gang during a murder trial. The prosecutor is positive these four gang members conducted a gangland murder. Will Alexander's instinct tells him that his clients are innocent. The basic storyline is interesting, but the author should have told his story in less than 300 pages. The novel drones on and on. Several times I was tempted to put the book aside and start a new book.
